I know it is a little tough to introduce another challenge with the ammunition crisis. Though visit your local outfitter shop and you may be surprised I found pallets of ammo this weekend in my local shop.
Train, Have Fun, Keep Them On Target and submit your targets and times to mr.revolvrguy@dayattherange.com
If you wish to support the channel in a different way PAYPAL is available. Here is a link to my paypal account so you can help support my channel directly if you choose . You guys cannot know how it means to the wife and I.

Though we love keeping the articles updated and making video’s for the site it was important for the wife and I to have something more to offer. All funds go back into the channel for equipment and other items required to keep the site and channel going like ammunition.
Each item is made with love by the wife and ships promptly. There is not an online store at this moment as we did not want to add any additional cost to the items.
Great video!
Hey Buffalo.. like you videos.
This man understands, lives and breaths the “gun culture”. I wish you were my neighbor, Sir.
You kick boredom in the ass, every time I learn something fun! Keep the good work, boss!
Just your enthusiasm alone makes your videos fun to watch…Long video, but I wouldn’t of minded it if it was twice as long..I carry a 686+ but I wouldn’t mind switching it off with that very nice carry comp once in a while.
I was hoping to see a Colt Cobra in the mix.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. Entertaining but also informative. Thanks for providing the content and enjoying yourself while you do it! As a retired U. S. Air Force NCO, I sincerely thank you for your service brother!
Best 3" revolver video, yet!
Very good video. I too agree that a 3" revolver is the best combat revolver. I have a Ruger SP 101 3" 357, A Rossi RP 63 3" 357, and a Tuarus 856 Defender 3" 38 special. I really want to add a "Snake" to my collection being a King Cobra 3".
so much fun!
Ya buddy super excited to hear that. I just purchased mind looking forward to getting it.
Love it baby! Great enthusiasm 😊
Good stuff. This would be fun to try
Fun video. Good job! I’m going to try that with my Smith model 63. My hands are old and beat up, the 63 had a great trigger and no kick.
Love the video!!! Your quickly becoming one of my favorite gun channels on UA-cam! Your also helping me be more confident in thinking, that a 3 inch revolver should be my next choice for a home defense/occasional carry gun, over a 4inch barrel!!!!
Great info video. Thank you
Way to bring it big daddy
Great video from a fresh perspective!!!!!!
Thanks for the great work!
Thanks much Tim.
That was fun to watch. Enjoyed it, thanks.
Sweet glad you enjoyed, I was having so much fun I let time get away from me and the video was a little long. Thank you for stopping by.
Another fun video Eli !
I wish your videos were longer and more often. My wife an i enjoy your channel alot. Can`t wait for the next upload!
As a 50-year shooting enthusiast and retired LE, I have put considerable rounds down range with revolvers and semi-autos. The 357 magnum has always been a get the job done round. Lately, I've considered switching to a 3" 357 as a daily carry gun. I've looked closely at the choices in the 2023 market. I had hoped to see the new Colt King Cobra in the lineup for this video, but your choices did not leave me disappointed. Having shot the 4" version of the 2022 Python which is in my opinion a superior gun to the old models, I would love to own the Hollywood as you call it, but the price tag is a bit steep for my wallet. This video and your most creative challenge course have inspired me to get a 3" 357. And I subscribed to your channel. Look forward to more great videos from you.
They say "you'll run out of time before you run out of bullets"... not always I agree..but, drills like this are good for training....totally enjoyed the vid.. That S&W comp and the Python are nice! thank you.... retired Senior Chief.
Thank you Sr Chief I agree the fight is not over until every ounce of the will to fight have left my body and thats when I -- Well you get the point
My favorite 3" is my SW Model 60 3".
Nice get out and shoot it and join the challenge.😁
I'm a revolver guy also. Smith revolvers and 1911s. In the winter I carry a smith 3 inch 625 45 acp.
I have a new Colt King Cobra 3” .357, will try this in the next few days, another great video.
Kevin come back and let us know how you do.
@@Dayattherange
Ok did it today, I have always been a S&W or Ruger revolver shooter, this Colt King Cobra is my first double action Colt very nice.don’t know how to add pictures
@@kevinward8915 Kevin email them to me and I will put them up on my website dude this is awesome mr.revolverguy at dayattherange.com
DATR, you get so pumped up......... Take any one of them and practice, you were close but no cigar !!
This makes me want to take my 38 spl snubby out !!
Really like your video
Just found your channel.. Enjoyed the video.. You got a new subscriber..
I could see a 7-7-7 jackpot challenge. Last shot after a reload.
sent you an email
That looks like fun Eli...you did well. When I get out from this annealing rabbit'hole project, I giv'er a try this summer.
But I have to warn'Ya...I really suck at revolvers double action. ...😎
Yeah right you suck stop sand bagging.
Good video, thank you. Subscribed a long time ago ....
Appreciate the continued support Zona
Lovin the”L” frame.
I really enjoyed your video.
I like that you show case different revolvers from different manufacturers.
Thank you David
USMC! Ooh Rah!
Commenting for the algorithms. solid dude. great info and presentation. Prof. Dayattherange
Well done video. I am sure that this is more difficult than it sounds, especially when it's done on camera for all to see... I am not sure I could agree that the Python was inherently more accurate than the other revolvers because you had been practicing the 6-6-6 shoot on the mod 65, the Kimber, the Ruger, the S&W Performance center, and the 686 before you finished up with the Colt. So, it might be that at the end you were just more accurate because of the 84 rounds (including the wadcutters) you had already fired. However, it did seem that you enjoyed the Python a great deal.
I might try this with a model 13 3inch barrel (last FBI issued revolver).
Marines can shoot!
USN Aviation '65 -'69, USN Medical Corps '76-'82
Thomas get out and try it I would like to see how the model 13 performs. You could be right about the number of rounds but keep that between you and I as my wife said the same thing, last thing I need is her hearing I said she was right 😁
Great video! I carry a Ruger SP 101 with a 3 in barrel.
This drill was originally developed by Larry Vickers and is a variation of the Bill Wilson 5-5-5 drill.
The only snubbie revolver I own is a J-frame Smith in 38+P. I've named her 'Snappy' because of the pain it imparts trying to shoot it. She is miserable to train with. A delight to carry, but miserable to shoot. Great shooting MRG! Thanks!
read here dayattherange.com/?p=9668 on additional classes
Good video I really enjoyed it those are some nice 3 inch revolvers.
Love this guy ! Great video
Love your channel. Just started getting into revolvers. Like the 6-6-6 challenge and can’t wait to give it a go!
Kenneth let us know how you do.
Awesome video!! Love revolvers.
Great episode Love that k6s Hope to have one someday 💥 Love my 686+ also
Thanks Alex --- Get out and try that 686 in the challenge and have fun.
Super video. Honest. I have a J frame. Planning to be my carry. I am looking at 3 inch 6 round too.
You keep coming up with really fun videos. I like your targets you should market them.
That S&W 686 is beautiful, I'd like to try that one, but short of that, I'd have to go with the Kimber. I have the snubby version with the concealed hammer, I love that gun.
Love it - gonna have to give this a try. Semper Fi, bro!
Semper Fi brother let me know how you do.
💯☝🏾💯
That S&W model 65 with the bobbed hammer and milled barrel was sick looking. The 3” Cs-1 is a badass too. I have a Cs-1 with some original S&W combat grips on it. It’s such a pretty and good shooting 357. I also have an original prelock 19-7 Kcomp. I don’t shoot it but for a few times and it is one of the best looking revolvers I’ve seen with a phenomenal trigger.
I always enjoy your videos.
I talked to a guy who bought a " snubby" 357. Light weight. The rounds , together weighed more than the revolver. I told him how shooting that Smith with full 357 would hurt. He came back looking to trade it for something with more heft.
Good video and job well done. It is easy to see that you enjoyed yourself there. I would have liked to see the Shootoff with the snake and S&W Performance Center. I love Ruger and have always thought they are over-build and strong. However, their trigger needs work to put it in the same class as the Snakes and Performance Center models. Semper. FI Marine.
Love your vids..great straight ho eat shooting! Keep up these kind of fun challenges!
I would take that Carry Comp if I could justify the $ price. Guess my SP 101 will have to do for now, lol
My opinion the 3" is the best barrel length for revolvers used in the defensive carry role. That Carry Comp 3" is one I've considered.
Nice video. Really informative. Lotta great comparisons. Currently I do not have a 3 inch out of all of the ones you had. I would have picked the Python. However, when things get back to where they should be, I would like my next purchase to be a S&W 686+ 3 inch
They make some sweet one for sure. Good luck on your hunt let us know if you find one.
I love 3in revolvers as well. My favorite in my pre-lock SW model 65 although I might need to machine change the front sight like yours after seeing this video...
Fun video. IMHO you should have used the carry comp vs the colt. Your groups were much tighter with the comp than the cs.
Great fun…. S/F
Ive got to see this!
If hickok45 were a Marine...this could be his channel. Ya'll would make good neighbors.
I like your videos. Enthusiasm and passion without arrogance or stupidity. Unfortunately, these qualities are not common in UA-cam gun videos.
Those are strong comments to live up to -- just me being me honored and humbled that you enjoy.
I would suggest getting the Crony out to compare speed. Then take each apart, mic and weigh the bullets to see if they are the same ammo.
Whew , you were cooking on some of those . I wonder what Charlie will do ?
Charlie will flinch! ...😎
So do you think the Python is worth the price or maybe someone might be better getting a special upgraded version of a smith and Wesson?
Fun video but I’d venture to guess your shooting consistency is more in question than accuracy of the revolvers.
That Colt is fine.
Been a while since I watched this one Michael thank you for bringing this back to me, that dancing Pony was dancing on this say. It might be time to ask my friends for all of their 2in or less😁
The cold python three inch anytime
How about a S&W Model of 1955 from the holster into an IDPA target? I wonder how good I am with that thing.
You can send me that 3” 686 whenever you’re ready.
Awesome video and a fun variation on the Bill Drill. With my G19, I can achieve 6 A-zone hits from 7 yards in under 3 seconds from the draw. I don’t think I’ll be able to meet that standard with a .357 mag revolver, but I’m going to get my Model 66 out to the range this week and give your drill a try!
Looks like you shoot the K frame best.
6:15 I’m pretty sure by USPSA rules that shot on the lower left would still count since it’s barely touching the line.
5 shot should be 5 shots in 5 seconds at 6 yards. That would be fair.
Colt magnum carry 1999
The problem for me is my stubby is a 5 shot 38 only and my 357 is a 6 inch single action
We can create a class for 5 shot 5-5-6 5 shots, 5 seconds, 6 yards. I would even be willing to create a class of 4 inch and above. 😁
@@Dayattherange what about for single action revolvers
@@donaldballman2825 I would be willing to create one for single action. WOW WOW WOW not sure I would ever get 6 shots on target in 6 seconds with a single action. That would be worth seeing.
@@Dayattherange I know I couldn't
@@Dayattherange need to watch some old Bob Munden videos my friend,,,,I'm pretty sure he could do 6 at 6 in 6 with an old single action in 6 tenths of a second or less, don't know if you know who Bob Munden was (he died in 2012) but he is considered to be the fastest gun that ever lived, ripley's did a bit on him and it was determined that he was actually quite super human with his quick shooting, with science proving something like he could draw, fire and reholster a gun faster than a normal persons nerve conduction velocity could even comprehend the necessay movments involved in the action,,,,something to that effect,,,,,,completely incredible and actually even makes guys like Jerry Miculek look kinda slow.
I carry a model 13. Had it 38 years. I believe your 38 hand loads are not the best loads . 357 full house are more accurate.
Just found your channel love your content revisiting and early love with revolvers currently only have 2 hammerless j frame and an old police positive 4 inch
Trying to decide what’s next looking at chiappa 30 , S&w pd or the Kimber k6s any thoughts ?
oh my kimber k6s dayattherange.com/?s=kimber+k6s
I wonder what the name of this drill is.
We rebrand to Murphy's Law
@@Dayattherange love the idea. And revolvers.
If you had to pick one which would you say felt the best in your hand?
Based upon feel in the hand only I would say the S&W 686
@@Dayattherange Thank you sir.
" Butch Reno"
Sorry just too too much talking and saying nothing, and not enough shooting!!!
So…. 96 rds fired , not enough shooting? In a video? 😂
