Useful tutorial, and every time I see the name Telomic I can't help but think about his excellent remix of Daydream. P.S. DNB Academy - maybe have your guests record a short video beforehand with audio from both the mic and the DAW to adjust the mic volume as it's really quiet here and I had to ride my external sound card's volume knob, other than that a massive thanks to you and the guys in the tutorials this year.
+1, This happens so often. Don't want to complain about free content, but it always feels like a such a waste - especially when we all work with audio.
Brilliant tutorial, took me several very pleasurable hours to work through it properly as there is so much useful content packed inside! Really appreciate you doing this!
man it sure would be great if a1/8th of the DAW interface wasn't obscured by a giant advertisement so i could actually see what parameters the teacher is changing.
I've made massive strides forward since following this, Telomic is a great teacher and I'm now going to sign up to Dnb Academy, hopefully there will be more from Telomic or others tutorials and courses are like this?
Haha i have always wondered what the "key track" on a filter does and never realized its actually THAT simple... :D Never paid attention to it really... Just noticed it does something and sometimes it sounds better with it on and vice versa. We always learn new stuff and sometimes the stuff we learn is something really simple, but helpful.
Hey, wonderful video! Really insightful on how easy drum n bass can be to arrange; I think a lot of people get intimidated by it by how complex it sounds on the surface, but you provided enough info that it's a rather smooth process. I'll certainly be referencing this video when producing it Just a bit of feedback: please balance your voiceover for the overall loudness of the video, I found myself dialing my monitor knob up to hear you and then had to turn it right back down during the sample pack plugs or when you were mixing/balancing instruments.
This was rad... I've been doing house for 20yrs and just succumbed to my love of liquid and started making some.. love your style and approach.. Will you have part 2 where you mix it?? Peace from New Zealand
Great tutorial and track sounds massive!! But I want to ask: are there any decent, in-depth tutorials on how to actually program drum loops such as the ones used in the video? Obviously not everyone has access to all theses loops and it is generally better to know HOW you make these loops (such as the classic dnb shaker loop you used, which is amazing!)
What packs/sounds do you guys recommend with this? Im gonna buy the artists course, but prob need more cause Im new to this genre so my sound/preset library is empty (Could you tell which he used here also?)
Apologies, I don’t use logic much, but if you make the original sound using a simple synth, retro synth could do it (2 saw waves detuned a few cents from each other, full sustain on the envelope) and do any filtering you want, I usually stick to simple notch filtering (which you can even use an EQ for tbh) to keep the top end there. Then bounce it out and import it into the logic sampler (used to be EXS-24 but I think they have a new one?) and automate the pitch wheel like I have the transpose, then all the filtering could be done with EQs or the free KHS filter, and the free OTT plug-in at the end of the chain! Hope that helps
I don't usually, I have done in the past, but I usually keep them driving down the centre, and add most of my width through spacial effects (reverb, chorus, delay etc.), the small room reverb I use on drums is usually enough there Mainly because everything ends up summed to mono on some systems anyway, and so avoiding adding too much in the mix stage means you don't end up running into trouble later, but everyone has their own way of doing it and you might find adding width gives your drums the spice they need
id love to see how that reese bass fill or break is done in FL studio its hard to follow anybody know? or any tuts out there that show it? loved this btw mate
Got to thank you brother for the professional way you teach 10/10 Does DNB Academy offer training online if you will you be headlining after watching your video I came up with some awesome baselines from serum and used the waves effect on the leads like you did used waves VOX ON A VOCAL SAMPLE CALLED ITS LIKE LIKE BEST TUNE I HAVE EVER MADE AND MADE A REALLY COOL SOUNDING PAD caps off with Absynth and sounds really cool kick and snare and shuttle to hits hats and breaks layered off the top and I love the little trick of the utility never knew that trick ,and the way you put your parts in for labelling Any more videos I have subscribed Thanks mate I am a fan keeps the cool videos coming Love it Big UpS
Couple of reasons I do it, 1 is to 'spread the load' slightly, so that one plugin isn't doing all the work with taming the peaks, and the second is to catch anything the clipper may have 'missed', any fast transients that might have slipped through. I've always found (at least with Kclip) that even if I'm clipping, if I put a limiter afterwards, there will always be bits it catches
@@TelomicUK I’ve never really checked with Kclip, I just always assumed it would catch everything - tbf I do use it with soft on 0% so maybe that’s why. I’ve been grappling with this Clip To Zero strategy for a couple of months now and it’s a bit of a headf**k sometimes. Thanks for your reply! Nice to see your quick workflow early on in the video ✌🏻
Cool. Lots of good Info here, and I like your idea for using blank clips as section markers. I use studio one and even in my daw, track markers are a bit ugly and kind of just look like a mess when you zoom out on your project. Big up
@@rola8597 I don't think so? Maybe a limiter just incase anything peaked too loud for the recording (although I'm aware of the voice/Ableton balance issue, I'll fix that for next time), I try not to, get the mix as good as possible and the master afterwards to elevate it, rather than mixing into a mastering chain
One of the best tutorials on this channel

Been having a major block in my creative outflow for over a year now. - This triggered my spark again, thank you!
wow thx, best liquid tutorial maybe on yt:) the track speaks for itself
So many thing to learn from this video! Big respect Telomic!

Yes we have many courses like this and also a new Telomic course coming soon!
I would buy it immediately! Great tutorial
ONe of the best Liquid tutorials out there... Trust me ive seen them all 🙏
Great master class! So straightforward and amazing result. Thanks a lot! 🙏🙏🙏
I love the simplicity of production that’s exactly what we’re looking for 😌

Clicked because the track colors reminded me of candy corn, stayed because sauce

can anyone explain in detail how hes creating that filler reese bass?
Sounds great

Could anyone explain how to make those mid bass rips in Logic? great tutorial but its annoying when they use stock plugins

Awesome tutorial! Thank you! Quick question though; Do you pan your drums when you're mixing?

If you put a clipper on the drum buss, why would you need a limiter afterwards?
