I think some expanding foam might have reinforced it enough? For those who might not be able to rip down some scrap. Along with some construction adhesive / clamped Down until it drys

Nicely done! Say, what is that angled driver you used to install the screws into the frame? A regular drill is often too large yo lay flat... your tool worked great? Link for it?

If I wanted to put this in a steel door to get better air circulation would it be easier after cutting frame out to drill screws in or to put supporting wood blocks in? I believe it’s honey comb material inside the steel hollow core

What if you want to add a vent to a door and have it look nice on both sides of the door? And what if it's a solid core door?

Is the vent big enough for the system?

why did you not put this in the centre of the bottom panel? seems little OCD maybe but for a carpenter / woodworker i am surprised how you putit off centre

Although I can appreciate your wanting to have all the millwork matching I still think for the needs of this doorway I would have used a full louvered door. As long as the door casing and paint match up to the rest the door wouldn’t have my discerning eye drawn to this applied vent with the gap from the raised panel.
I also disagree with you only using 4 screws. I would of like to see you use all 8 to help this modified door regain some strength due to the hole. I also couldn’t sleep at night knowing the door wasn’t trimmed out around the opening on the inside.
Please don’t hate me, I have OCD when it comes to design. I would of like I said earlier first choice to use a louvered door or perhaps distantly second, to create my own handmade louvered vent where the whole lower raised panel would be gone to give the door better visual balance and not make it look like an afterthought.

I don't think anyone disagrees with you on the preference for a louvered door (it being nicer and all), but once you have a solid door (as I do) and you want a transfer of air, instead of paying $500 for a new louvered door, spending $50 on this transfer grille seems the money-smarter way to go. Especially if the door (as in my case) is a mere door to a utility room.
