- Kaboom has been around for awhile, but the clown on the front has changed a little over the years. This cereal was only discontinued in the past 5 years or so, but it hasn't been really popular since back in the 70s -- with the exception of Tarantino using it in Kill Bill.

Discontinuing the cereal was one of the worst mistakes General Mills has ever made
no sir not just one, it was THE WORST mistake general mills has ever made😭
Ain't that the truth , ruth
I loved that cereal. I wish they would bring it back with its original flavor
Man, this cereal was my shit! Brung back memories with this one. Too bad it got discontinued 😔 GM please bring it back 🙏
I really missed these.
This is a very addictive cereal its my fav . So simple but yet sooo yummy 😭😍
I used to LOVE Kaboom. I'll NEVER understand why they discontinued it. It was SO good.
I love Kaboom! I want it back!!!!!!
I've waited so long for this Kaboom reference! Finally!
I loved Kaboom and Booberry. When I would visit my Aunt in Florida they still sold it. I would go to our local grocery store in Illinois and one day and it was gone. No one was overweight at the time because we played outside and walked to school.
This was my favorite cereal growing up, last time I saw it was in the movie ' Kill Bill '...wish it was still available..😒🙄❤️
I wonder how movies do research for stuff like that could be interesting doc
You mentioned the "bright yellow" cereal box as though that was the orginal color, but I remember it being a lighter yellow in the 1970s.
I thought it was discontinued in the 80s. Didn't know it lasted as long!
A lot of people didn't realize that!
I found a couple boxes in the 90's and was surprised then no more Waaaa!!!!
I agree
I remember eating this one morning before setting off on my bike to ride to school around 1969. I was never a morning person, even in 5th grade, and the exertion proved too much (I should have stuck to the bus...) - I puked. And I remember it being the most COLORFUL puke I'd ever done - or seen! Good times, good times ...
🤣🤣🤣
I definitely miss this cereal it was my favorite.
My favorite as well 😌
Ppl are funny, they say they will be missed and blah blah blah but...we have the power to bring them back. If we wanted them back we could, were the boss ppl forget that. My point is they don't have to be discontinued. If we want em back let's make it happen.
How a cereal WITH ABSOLUTELY ZERO-TO-NO TASTE WHATSOEVER (in the main pieces)
lasted THAT LONG on supermarket and mini-mart shelves is beyond me!
I'm surprised that factor wasn't even mentioned. Hasn't anyone else noticed that with Kaboom?
Kaboom was the first cereal in the memory banks of my mind. Growing up in the early 70's my 2 primary concerns in life were Saturday morning cartoons and my daily cereal. My mother allowed me to go to the cereal isle to make my own selection while she grocery shopped for all the other non-essential food supplies. (Times were different then, no fear of being abducted while unsupervised)Kabooms may have been my original and one of my most memorable childhood cereals but priorities changed due to THE PRIZE. Freakies and Moonstones always had cool prizes and, therefor, became my usual first choice. Capt'n Crunch once had a plastic submarine that would dive and re-surface when filled with baking soda (I think). It was all about the prize in the box, hence, I was so disapponted if we got a variety pack. Grandparents always had Special K or plain Corn Flakes...Boring! I don't recall Cheerios having fun prizes which is why I didn't eat them until I got older.Great memory rush thanks to Cereal Time which made me remember Grins & Smiles & Giggles & Laughs!PS. I am now addicted to the Cereal Time song and made my wife sing it to me before I would give her a kiss goodnight.
I'M A 70S BABY, ALSO, AND I REMEMBER EATING KABOOM FOR BREAKFAST BEFORE I WENT TO SCHOOL N ALSO ON SATURDAYS AND YES, I COULDN'T HARDLY WAIT TO WATCH SATURDAY MORNING CARTOONS....THOSE WERE THE GOOD DAYS N TIMES, I MISS THEM ALOT AND I WILL NEVER FORGET THEM!!!! HUMBLE BEGINNINGS!!!!
Happy National Cereal Day from Cereal Time 🥣
It's been around for that long? I never saw this cereal on shelves once in my entire life!
I loved this cereal it was one of my favorites.
Kaboom and King Vitaman sold well during the time I work for the supermarket.
Of course, those 2 cereals were on the list for the WIC program.
I remember seeing this cereal throughout my boyhood, and you had to go to the local neighborhood grocery stores to find it instead of the big supermarkets like Publix and Winn-Dixie. Perhaps it's one of the most fabled cereals I never ate.
Hahaha this one so far has been my favorite, super informative/entertaining
This was always my FAVORITE cereal when I was a kid, Please bring it back General Mills...!!!!!!!
This was my favorite cereal when I was a kid. Best cereal ever!
I remember Kaboom cereal! Mom bought it for us 1969-1972. The commercials of the clown took place in a circus and everytime, someone ate the cereal , he would yell "Kaboom"! and there was a sound of a cannon and pyrotechnics on the TV screen. It was a catchphrase on the elementary school grounds in the early 1970s. We yelled it in the cafeteria , and playing kickball. We also said it as we played with our clacker balls ( they were called Klik Klaks in Los Angeles) and lining up to to go back into the classrooms. I think Kaboom tasted like Trix cereal and it was good. I haven't had Kaboom cereal since 1975 , but remember it and the clown TV commercials for over 50 years.
I looked up "kaboom cereal commercial" on UA-cam and there was one right on the top
Yeah, I just noticed that too. Bad timing on my part. I recorded this particular video about 5 months ago before that video was posted online. That's what I get for recording some videos way in advance. :(
Where's the Kaboom? There was supposed to be an earth-shattering Kaboom!
LMFAO!! All these comment about watching saturday morning cartoons and no likes on this??? IT'S A CLASSIC!!
Wow I can't believe I found this. This cereal reminds me of being poor in the 70's, and having food stamps, Kaboom was somehow, with WIC, one of the only cereals they allowed you to buy because it had a high vitamin content, but yeah, definitely a nostalgic feeling watching this video. Good stuff!
Favorite cereal as a baby, I remember it was so good and I was at least 2 at that time (I was born in 2000)
The fruity Cheerios tastes very similar to Kabooms. It’s the closest thing you’ll get, sadly. I really miss Kabooms.
I remember eating this I forgot how it tasted.
Let's hope in 2018 the cereal will come back
May 2, 2019!!!!
I remember that cereal, we as kid's begged our mother for this (Kaboom cereal) & it was disgusting, and we wouldn't eat-it, so it remain on top of refrigerator, for like 5 years my mother refused to toss-it, because we begged for that particular brand, & gave her so much grief about it! True story, we discuss it often, as adults & laugh.😂😂
Ka-bummer!👈
You guys didn't like it? Too sweet? 😂
Cereal Time TV no, it tasted like medicne/ vitamins....to the contary not enough sugar.😂
I saw a kaboom, cereal, commercial, on youtube, a really old one.👍 Actually right before this video.
"Kaboom" I see what you did there, Tarantino!
I really appreciate that you do this you don't have to do it and after everything you do you try old cereal sometime I love this channel it could be my favorite channel and whenever I'm at the grocery I think how nice of you it is to do all this
Thanks for watching!!
Man this used to be my favorite cereal, i really missed it 😢
Its weird that kabooms and king vitamins cereal leave a mark in your memory and even your sensory nerves bc my tongue gets nostalgia from the thought of the box 😭
I remember in 1969 ,I was 7. Yrs old. And I saw the commercial. Ask my mom to buy it for me.
I loved that cereal!
Bring it back!
That box is from 1977?! Huhhhhhh
THATS the year where the first Star Wars movie from the original trilogy!
I missed them!!
I miss this cereal so much
I was so pissed off when they added marshmallows to the cereal because I was allergic to the gelatin that was in them. Gelatin is also in Lucky Charms, Count Chocula, etc
Your Chanel is awesome jaja
Thanks for watching!
Great video! Kaboom was always a B-list sugary cereal to me, but that didn't mean I didn't have some great affection for me. Perhaps the weak mascot prevented it from being as beloved as so many other cereals back in the day. And I don't recall any great premiums either, which undoubtedly made it less appealing to my childhood self.
Yeah, they didn't seem to have a wide variety of great premiums.
The 1987 box is the one i grew up with. I never saw the other 2. They didn't have that last Kaboom box where i lived. It must have been only in certain states.
They always seem to change a good thing to a less good thing. Honeycomb got the "suck" treatment and thankfully they changed it back. Kaboom tasted great in its original incarnation.
super video
I used to love KABOOM!
Kabooms was my favorite cereal i miss it.
Claus Siri darling don't forever chomba the wait is my favorite city sacando marques para que
I used to buy Kaboom at IGA in the early 2000's
Wow, my mom and great grandmother Did 2!!!!
I loved kaboom, they need to bring it back.
I can't say I've ever seen or heard of Kaboom cereal till now. It must've been regional.
It definitely wasn't regional. It was a national brand for years.
Commercials are on UA-cam now
Has this ever happened to you? You eat so much Kaboom that you're feces turns green? No? Guess it was just me.
Probably the old school cereal i miss the most....it sucked after the recipe change. Last time I remember having "the original" was in the mid 1990s after I found a few boxes at a mom-and-pop store on vacation.
Yeah, when they changed the recipe it definitely lost it's appeal for me.
We need a petition to bring back Kaboom.
the original kaboom was a staple cereal at our house in the 70's because it was less expensive then fruit loops or trix. I remember that it tasted great.
What was your favorite cereal from the 70s?
i would have to say that my favorite was a cereal called freakies. i think there is a commercial of it on youtube somewhere. very catchy song where they said they lived in a freaky tree, they never missed a meal because they loved their cereal. great prizes and great characters. by the way i love your channel!
Nice! Thanks for watching! I did a Freakies video awhile back: ua-cam.com/video/IZOqj0UoYVw/v-deo.html
Cereal Time TV is it ok if I have
nebraskahusker247 I also use to eat Freakies. They had little figures of all the characters I had them all. Ah memories....
My grandma was 8 when this came out
Yay gabe liked :'D
if you haven't already maybe a good idea for a video would be to go over why cereal doesn't taste like it used to with the modern formulas substituting cheap ingredients
That was a creepy-looking clown.
That is the only cereal I was ever willing to fight with my mom for. I was OBSESSED, and honestly, I'm 45 and still think about (& wish I could get) Kaboom cereal. In early 2010 I found a rural country store with 7 boxes on the shelf. I bought them all and ate them within 2 weeks 😂 I've never seen them again until this video.
General mills and all cereals have been 💩💩💩💩 since 2011.
Best cereal in history. Bring it back General Mills.
If she yelled “KABOOM!” as she shot through the box, she prob would’ve survived 🤷🏻♂️
I loved this cereal regardless of my dislike of clowns.
If you ate a cereal with a clown mascot, did it taste funny?
Funny, I grew up in the 60's and 70's are a lot of cereal watching Saturday morning cartoons and we never had Kaboom. It just never really appealed to me or my sister.
My parents used to buy this cereal every now and again back in the 90's but not very often. To me, the cereal was unremarkable. I guess for me, it could be the bland flavor, or maybe the generic motif, or that in there were a lot of better tasting cereals on the market at the time, but it just never stood out to my 8 year old self.
Mind officially blown from that Kill Bill clip. I really thought this stuff was fake.
See? You learn all kinds of new stuff watching Cereal Time TV! Just like I learn all kinds of vegan recipes while watching Irvz All In It!!
They did the same shit with the monster cereals. Leave them as oat cereals. Fuck corn.
i found a 1969 kaboom cereal ad here on youtube. it was posted by someone named Chucky Lou Memorial Film Society.
I saw it! I recorded this video like 4 months ago before that video was posted. That's what I get for planning ahead.
weird how I've never ever seen this cereal on shelves before in my past. I wonder if it was regional. I'm in Oregon.
It was all over the country. I think they just fazed it out in the 90s. But if you were a kid in the 80s you should've seen it somewhere.
Was there a Cereal called "Sis-Boom-Ba", back in the time?
Green Doo Doo maker
Lol!!!!
Man I miss brightly colored cereal. Don't even care if it turned my poop green
Me too!
Lmbco!!!!
I remember this Kaboom cereal i remember we as children were struggling to eat my mom fed us best she knew how.
These were some hard to chew cereal
I had it back in 1992
I heard that Kaboom started to taste awful when they changed the recipe. I remember you saying it was dissapointing. Was it a huge change in taste?
Same with the Monster Cereals. They went from a Oat recipe to a corn recipe and now they taste like shit.
JohnnieRock I like the Monster cereals, though..
@@railenherman6482 they were my favorite growing up. The recipe in the 70's and 80's was much better. I think General Mills switched to corn for a lot of these cereals because its cheaper.
😄😄😄😄💯😎😎😎😎💯💯💯😄🤑🤑🤑🤑🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🎪🎪🎪🎪
Was this cereal ever popular?
look up kaboom cereal on youtube ! commerial for KABOOM CEREAL is there !
Yep, it seems like it was added to UA-cam shortly after I filmed this video. Wish it would've been up before I posted this one.
my boy
Nice release date
I loved this stuff as a kid but rarely bought it because other cereals had better toys and stuff inside. That seems kind of stupid now. Forgive me Kaboom, wherever you are.
The reason Kaboom lost its popularity was because General Mills KILLED it by going the cheap route and converting to Corn. They ruined it!
A commercial has been found
....this cereal wasnt brought to you by a damn thing but cardboard.....they used to bullshit on their marshmallow inclusion.....my mom bought this all the time because it was cheap and she needed her name brand coffee and Marlboros.....ahhhhh....childhood.
This looks like a happy version of trix.
The taste was more in line with Lucky Charms. Yummy
It just went kaboom also I they should bring it back
I see what you did there 69 lolllolololol
Well my 80s nostalgia just got unlocked today.
I voted for Trump because he promised he'd make America go *KABOOM* again.
Ive had it.
Kaboom if you will
Kaboom was great in the 70s I can still remember eating it in the summertime and it would give me energy! It was very fruity! Cereal in the 70s was so much better I would give anything to be able to taste cereal like it used to be especially boo berry , Franklin berry the flavor and texture was sooo good! Rich in flavor nothing like it is today it was not shinny and lite it was dense and oat based now it’s corn cheaper!! So disappointing! Fruity pebbles is the only one that is still the same.
Very cute
Did they make a pokemon cereal?
