He probably knew she wouldn't respond to him romantically, but he may have been hoping she would at least cozy up to him for moral support in her grief.
So. Non-spoiler: Littlefinger thinks through chaos, he can climb the ladder. He had an issue with Ned's eldest brother, who gave him that scar because Littlefinger challenged Brandon for the honor of Catelyn Stark. As a young teen, he got Lysa pregnant. This is why she was married to Jon Arryn. He needed a fertile wife. And in order for Ned and Robert to get Hoster Tully's armies, Jon Arryn and Ned married his daughters. This I think, angered a younger Littlefinger. So once Ned heard Jamie killed the former king, the Lannisters and Starks had something of a feud. Littlefinger took advanage of this and moved the Starks and Lannisters like chess pieces against eachother until the war started. So Littlefinger climbs the ladder and gets revenge on the Starks for losing Cat. This is my opinion based on what you've seen on the show. Backstory: Littlefinger grew up at Riverrun with Cat, Lysa and Edmure. Lysa loved Petyr, but he was into Cat. Except Cat was betrothed to the Starks (originally to Brandon, who was Ned's older brother. Petyr challenged Brandon for her hand and Brandon kicked the shite out of him. Cat had to intervene to save his life (which in hindsight is her biggest mistake). Lysa went to Petyr in his sickbed and they did it. It's unclear if Petyr was well enough to know it was Lysa and not Cat. (As Petyr implies he has had sex with Cat when he has not per her own narration.) Lysa became pregnant and was forced to give up the baby, something she never forgave her father for. Then when Jon Arryn's son died alongside Brandon Stark, Cat married Ned instead and Lysa was given to Jon Arryn--who was much older than her--because she had already conceived and he needed an heir. She was unhappy in this marriage. On Petyr's say so, Lysa killed her husband which began the series. Lysa sends Cat a message saying the Lannisters did it, so Ned would be suspicious. And then, of course, it is Petyr who says he will pay the goldcloaks to support Ned but instead supports Cersei and Joffrey which leads to Ned's death. tldr, Petyr started this whole thing because he's creepily obsessed with Cat as this thing that was denied him. Littlefinger would do all of this for one simple reason: "Chaos is a ladder." By creating the war between the Starks and the Lannisters, he created the chaos which would allow him to climb higher than previously possible.

Us even people who read the books couldnt be sure tgat things would go that way on the show. So that was a fun element. Even when people would do spoilers then.
Good lord my dude, the world around you came crashing down 😂. It's easily one of the best reactions to that Petyr Baelish reveal. Little Shitfinger is a fantastic villain. Now that's how you write great characters and tell an amazing story.
LBarry thank you for the upload, I so enjoy your vids they are so awesome! I almost lost it when your called Robin Arryn a TiXXy Sucker OMG, that long ago "romantic encounter" in the Fandom spawned a theory that Lysa became pregnant, and Robin is Petyr Baelish's son, and Lysa's marriage to Jon Arryn just might be Littlefinger's first move on the Chess Board. That justifies why Petyr caters to him, he calls him Uncle Petyr ...
Littlefinger also knew Jon Arryn was conspiring with Stannis as he knew he was the rightful heir and Petyr would have a harder time gaining trust with Stannis as he has done with the Lannisters
Remember back in like season 1 or 2 when Littlefinger said something along the lines of still having a mark from his fight with Brandon Stark from navel to collarbone? That was when he dueled Brandon Stark (Ned's older brother, the one who was strangled by the Mad King) for the right to marry Catelyn. Obviously, Brandon easily won. This is why Cat was betrothed to him and then Ned after he was killed. After this duel, Littlefinger had to have extensive medical treatment and was a bit delusional. It was during this time that he slept with Lysa, thinking it was Cat. This is part of why he held onto his love for Cat in the first place. He thought it was reciprocated until many years later when he discovered it was actually Lysa. This is also why people have made remarks about Littlefinger settling for his second choice of wife.
BARRY! I love the fucking videos you make. Love your attention to things and memory of what's happened. I love watching you work through what's happening in real time. Next episode is crazy bro....Def think you should make a tier list for the dead.
12:02 In the books, i'm convinced she's actually representing a River Goddess. In the first chapter the dress she slips on "feels like water to the touch". There's alot of other good metaphor/symbolism, but I don't want to spoil too much for peeps.
Since you are so far ahead, I think I can just go ahead and point out that "Cersei being chill" in this episode is because she wanted to convince all the judges to take her side on the trial. From the beginning, she’s been very open about her disdain towards Margaery, but now she's advocating her to become the queen: because her father is one of the judges. Cersei was very much against sending Myrcella to Dorne, and the relations between Lannisters and Martells are extremely tense, but now she's having a heart-to-heart with Oberyn. When Tywin told Cersei she would marry Loras, she was furious and outright told him she is not going to do it, and that’s what she kept saying. Yet somehow, now she’s agreeing to it just like that.
That’s right. Cersi is trying to charm and manipulate Tyrion’s judges. She goes to Margarey instead of Mace because Mace is a dummy who is controlled by his mother and daughter.
I don't think this is a spoiler but with Littlefinger, it started with the duel with Brandon Stark for Cat's hand in marriage. Peytr lost and has never gotten over it. I love parts of episodes that i never realized would be some of the best random reaction moments, and Lysa telling Sansa about marrying Robin is one of those unexpected favorites 😂
If the women of Craster's house didn't stay in the hut and didn't join the Night's watch you could almost guarantee that they joined the wildling army. They couldn't possibly survive by themselves and they knew how weak the Night's watch was so joining the army was probably the best choice. Also, I don't think they wanted to tell the Watch that. 😅
Yeah the wildling army isn’t far from Craster’s keep by now. That’s why Jon wanted to kill the mutineers before the wildlings captured them and found out how few men the watch had at castle black
Sam is constantly taunted about Gilly at Castle Black. Not only is she the only female, the Night's Watch despise wildlings as generational enemies. Most of the Night's Watch ranks are filled rapists. When he brings her to Molestown I don't believe they knew of the massive raid on Olly's village yet. The information he's going off of to make his decision is based on the wildlings Jon could report which were numbers that are probably commonly raiding the North.
17:02 okay so: The duel that has been mentioned before, wherein Baelish challenged Brandon Stark (Ned's older brother), for Catelyn's hand in marriage, led to Baelish injured and under sedative drugs (Milk of the poppy / opium lol). While he was completely out of it, Lysa snuck in and raped him - Baelish thought, because he was so out of it, that it was Catelyn, so he let her do it, leading to Lysa also thinking that it was consensual sex, and that Baelish loved her back. Now after this, Lysa obviously thought that Baelish loved her, leading to her undying love for him. And yes, Baelish set it up: He did indeed lead Ned to King's Landing, and from there, helped lead him to Robert's Bastards. He did it very subtly; he never said "Look at this sus shit", but just said "Hey, these are the last people Jon Arryn saw before he died. Wanna see them too?" Which easily manipulated Ned
To your point about Tywin and his kids, it’s definitely valid, but as an addition, in the books, Jamie Cersei and Tyrion are a lot younger than they are portrayed in the show
Never forget what Littlefinger said..."Chaos is a ladder..." and he lives by this throughout the show. Were you thinking Locke was one of the good guys?!
It's a crazy twist that the Lannisters had absolutely nothing to do with Jon Arryns death. They didn't even necessarily know that Jon was close to discovering their secret.
Ep1 - jaime: "whatever jon arryn knew or didn't know died with him." Neither jaime or cersei were smart enough to figure it out in spite of pycelle the lapdog knowing his dying words were "the seed is strong" and what book he was reading. Poor dummies were screwed without Tywin.
@@im2arrogant118 the advisors don't necessarily share all of the information they have with their masters, as they try and manipulate events from the shadows. This is also shown by an even crazier twist in the books: Neither Jaime or Cersei sent an assassin to kill Bran. That was just Joffrey being malicious after hearing Robert say "it would be better to put the boy out of his misery". So the Lannisters didn't kill Jon Arryn OR order Bran's assassination - yet this is what primes Catelyn and the Starks to assume the worst. I would be certain that Varys and others knew all of this, but either said nothing and lied about the identity of the owner of the dagger.
@@Andrew-jb2ib I completely agree with all of that. Except for Pycelle. Pycelle is Tywin's lap dog and only seems to be loyal to the Lannisters (except for tyrion of course), but he wouldn't be privy to their secret so he wouldn't have known they were suspicious of Jon Aryn. It still feels really weird to me how careless they were about it and how lucky they got in spite of that.
It goes back even further I think. Brandon Stark was originally supposed to marry Catelyn before the rebellion. He and her father in law were killed by the mad king. Brandon went before the mad king to try to confront Rhaegar about kidnapping Lyanna, his sister. It’s believed that he heard this news from Littlefinger when Littlefinger tried to dual with him over Catelyn years ago. This made the mad king kill him and his father.
3:55 they cant go back to get gilly because they know that the wildlings just raided it and they can’t leave the castle to have any outdoor encounter with them because they’ll get cooked
they didn't raid it tho. they raided a village but they didn't raid mole's town until 3 episodes later. I understand that they're aware of a risk of running into the wildlings but they already knew about that risk when Sam dropped gilly off in the first place
@@LegenbarryReactionsI think going to Moles town is a sneak away kind of thing. Like going into town when you're on base. Sure, people do. And during legit trips like a supply run or R&R , understandable. (Does the nights watch have R&R?) But to just duck out like you are running to the store, I think is not allowed. That's was my impression.
As you're weeks ahead i can say this but yeah Petyr Baelish gave Lysa Tears of Lys to poison Jon Arryn knowing that the only other person Robert trusted was Ned. Then he told her to send a letter to her sister telling her it was the Lannisters. All the while he bankrupted the crown, pocketing alot of it for himself. Furthermore; the war he set in motion destroyed House Stark and essentially bankrupted the Lannisters. He became Lord of Harrenhal, the largest castle in Westeros and also plotted the regicide on King Joffrey. The Dagger plot involving Bran's asssissins eventually causing Tywin to invade the Riverlands also heightened tensions between the great houses, and again, that plot was also Petyr's. He had to weaken the great houses in order to supplant them as he can't climb the social ladder in a stable realm - he needs chaos and fracturing the Stark-Baratheon-Arryn-Tully alliances was the start of it. Many don't know but the War of the Five Kings parody on Joffrey's wedding was Petyr's idea. He whispered it in Joffrey's ear knowing he would never miss an opportunity to humiliate his uncle. Why? Because he knew it would likely anger Tyrion and cause a scene between the two of them - making Tyrion even more guilty. This plot also got him in good graces with the Tyrells while still maintaining a great relationship with the Lannisters. Then - he marries Lysa Arryn to take power in the Vale, later killing her to become the Lord Protector. He also ferried Sansa Stark away, the key to the North - and later persuades Cersei to make him Warden of the North no matter what happens with the Boltons and Stannis. Petyr Baelish destroyed House Stark, Arryn, Tully and almost drove the Lannisters into poverty. He became Lord Protector of the Vale, possibly Warden of the Nortth and is Lord of Harrenhal in the Riverlands.
Fun fact Jon Aryn and Stannis were working together to figure out the truth, but when Jon died, Stannis quickly left Kingslanding ( probably because he thought that if the lannisters could kill Jon,they should be more than capable of killing him in the same way) (Also stannis in the Books informed Ned about Jon's death via a letter) Since we see him preparing His army in both the books and the show, Stannis was obviously waiting for the lannisters to reveal their hand
The previews for the episodes be spoiling everything when you really pay attention 😂 Or at the very least, they hint strongly at what’s about to happen in the episode.
Yup, Baelish got Lysa to poison Jon Arryn, and then send a letter to Catelyn saying that the Lannisters did it and were a threat to King Robert, thus pitting the Lion and the Wolf against each other. What exactly did he think that would accomplish? He does say that "chaos is a dagger", so it could all be to shake things up to create opportunities for him to exploit. Did he plan Ned's downfall all along? Or did he only betray Ned when Ned was determined to make Stannis king; because with Stannis as king, someone corrupt like Baelish, at best, would loose position, and at worst he might find himself short a head. It's interesting to think about what exactly Baelish was planning on, and what was him adapting on the fly, but regardless it has turned out great for him so far!
As far as the "why," in the books it has more to do with what Lysa didn't want to see happen to Robin but in the show it's chalked up to "chaos is a ladder" 🤷🏿♀️
They don't say it in the show, but yeah, Lysa basically pretended she was Cat and SAed Baelish. He was drunk and unable to give consent in his condition, & he believed he was having sex with Cat. Lysa got pregnant, and their dad (Lord Hoster Tully of Riverrun) made her drink an abortifacient. She almost died bc of that, and then she was married off to Jon Arryn soon afterward. She did not want to marry him. It's messed up fr

It broke my heart that an off hand joke I made had such an impact for her.
I am very glad she's worked through things enough to get better. And also knows that something I said as a mean tween was not reality.

Your reactions are awesome because of how real you are.
We were all jumping around like you. Comparing notes with each other was so much fun.
Top tier entertainment & why I am here!
I love the undertaker bell 🔔 one of my favorite parts of your g.o.t. reactions😂
Best reaction ever!!!!! haha
RIP Karl Tanner, a Legend in Gin Alley!
Littlefinger also knew Jon Arryn was conspiring with Stannis as he knew he was the rightful heir and Petyr would have a harder time gaining trust with Stannis as he has done with the Lannisters
Petyr Baelish is like that. He literally started the Game of Thrones!
20:40 I don't know if anyone remembers when Petyr was auditioning Ros, he told her he hates all that fake screaming and moaning and carrying on 😂
Remember back in like season 1 or 2 when Littlefinger said something along the lines of still having a mark from his fight with Brandon Stark from navel to collarbone?

In the books, i'm convinced she's actually representing a River Goddess.
"The seed is strong..."
I love love love Daario #2
(Does the nights watch have R&R?)
But to just duck out like you are running to the store, I think is not allowed.
That's was my impression.

As you're weeks ahead i can say this but yeah
Petyr Baelish gave Lysa Tears of Lys to poison Jon Arryn knowing that the only other person Robert trusted was Ned.
Martin drops a hint that Lyssa was responsible by calling the poison that was used “Tears of Lys”
@@andrewward5891 such a cool little detail! Never thought of that
That happens with Baelish, he creates rumors that cause Chaos and then years later the lies become history..
I always wondered if Robyn might have been Baelish’s. From her “wedding night” comment
(Lysa explaining the real introduction to this story): Expositi-on
(Littlefinger kisses her to shut her up): Exposi-off
You are too cute! I love your reactions!
Fun fact
Jon Aryn and Stannis were working together to figure out the truth, but when Jon died, Stannis quickly left Kingslanding ( probably because he thought that if the lannisters could kill Jon,they should be more than capable of killing him in the same way)
(Also stannis in the Books informed Ned about Jon's death via a letter)
Since we see him preparing His army in both the books and the show, Stannis was obviously waiting for the lannisters to reveal their hand
He did it because chaos is a ladder.
Here before the bots, thanks for the upload my King! 🎉
The previews for the episodes be spoiling everything when you really pay attention 😂 Or at the very least, they hint strongly at what’s about to happen in the episode.

Back wit da drip. Lol, im corny.

Yessss Bazza. Hear ye, hear ye
It was smart to lie about the spoilers though you can’t lie
They don't say it in the show, but yeah, Lysa basically pretended she was Cat and SAed Baelish. He was drunk and unable to give consent in his condition, & he believed he was having sex with Cat. Lysa got pregnant, and their dad (Lord Hoster Tully of Riverrun) made her drink an abortifacient. She almost died bc of that, and then she was married off to Jon Arryn soon afterward. She did not want to marry him. It's messed up fr
