I dont think it'll return ever. Maybe in a different timeline or different reality. But the main one, the main girl is misaka. Misaki's plot is basically the copy of misaka. Level 5 esper, proud of her power, doesnt work on touma, yet keep meeting him in some random street. Although it'll be interesting to make another misaki's arc, She's probably my fav char out of all series. I love a tragic heroine where she ended up happy despite not having a happy ending.

Hopefully, the third saga will reveal more of the "Deadlock" group that attacks Touma and Misaki a year prior to the Index Arc and the "Parameter List" being revealed to the public of Academy City. Also, the only way for Touma to remember Misaki is for his brain to be healed in the specific part where Misaki used her Mental Out abilities to save Touma from dying, thus fixing the anterograde amnesia.

When I first got into anime in 2021 and watched the Toaru franchise, I had no idea about their history (Touma and Misaki) Now, I am gutted each time I see them together😔 I hope they get their happy ending, even though I like Misaka.

食蜂さんと上条さん(インデックスを救って記憶を無くす前)は友達みたいな関係だったんです。それで食蜂さんが悪い組織から狙われた時に上条さんが救ってくれたんですけど重症にあって、、それで食蜂さんが能力を使って治してあげたんですけどそれと引き換えに上条さんは食蜂さんの記憶を失ってしまったんです。それで食蜂さんは守ってくれた上条さんの事を好きになったんです。陰ってたのは上条さんが食蜂さんを覚えてないことを知ってのつらさでしょうね、、
食蜂操祈のエピソード(新約11巻)をOVAでも外伝でも劇場版でもいいから作って欲しい…
