It's fantastic to listen them. Joey and Kenneth come from the same planet than Simon and Garfunkel or Lenon and McCartney, nothing less. By the way, in some TMCK sings, I could not avoid to think in them.
The inspiration derived from David Rawlings is unmistakable in the style of play including the use of the capo and the gyrations of the small body guitar and head movements. But what is up with the towel tied on the neck?
And I saw them in Berlin. After seeing them on the internet so many times they seamed strangely familiar, slightly 'unreal' I was wondering, what really is real, in any case its just an impression on my retina or my eardrums. Well, they were real, some of that sound pressure was real, unamplified, and it reached my ears and my aura. I think some of THEIR energy came across to me.
+Alan Heck If you see them at a small enough venue, you can hear their voices and guitars over the amplification. They play an extremely quiet show, extremely intimate.
Why does he tie the rag to the end of the guitar? I assume to dampen the sound but doesn't the capo cut off the vibrations up the neck and therefore anything above it doesn't have an effect?
+Mitchell Borbridge That was a pretty tongue in cheek comment. He said that it is because he gets fret buzz down low when he puts his capo high up the neck.
That's probably a very old guitar and so that might be why it causes fret buzz when he puts the capo on the higher frets. He's had that guitar in every performance I've seen
It is an old guitar; in fact, it is a 1954 Martin 0-15. Small little thing, and the tone it puts out is exactly what he needs; he has tried other guitars with the Milk Carton Kids, but has stated that it's absolutely not the same thing. So he has to use the guitar. Unfortunately, as the others have stated, fret buzz occurs when he places the capo higher up (which he tends to do regularly, if not all of the time), so the white rag basically mutes this buzz.
I love you guys; I'm old enough to be your grandmother and you remind me of The Great American Folk Revival but decades and decades better...
Look how they sway to their music and play with their eyes closed. They're completely in love with what they do.
These guys are one of music's most undervalued projects.
Yes indeed
Beautiful stuff!
That boy can flat play a guitar. Love the grace notes, and somewhat bluesey/jazz feel that he brings to their songs.
And can play them while singing those harmonies. Unreal. He plays as easily as breathing.
Saw them yesterday in Lüdenscheid, Germany. Great concert!
Talent, ability and a touch of class. A new fan.
Saw them in concert in Brisbane a few years ago. Super harmonies, a great folk duo.
Kenneth is an unreal guitar player god damn
Matthew Sunday o
He is, godly.
There are so many talented people in our world.
Eyes closed, all feel. Special Player.
Beautifully interlaced vocals with feeling and inter collated string guitar music. Such pure sound!
It's fantastic to listen them. Joey and Kenneth come from the same planet than Simon and Garfunkel or Lenon and McCartney, nothing less. By the way, in some TMCK sings, I could not avoid to think in them.
Sensacional essa dupla. Great. Lovely!
fucking hell kenneth is a peach of a player
Nice one ... I'm looking forward to seeing them in the UK soon, at the Union Chapel, Islington.
Pete Hunt I was there too. Amazing concert. Was totaly worth coming all the way from Switzerland;)
Absolutamente abducido por este duo. Desde España...... Felicidades..!!
At minute 2:43, Kenneth flubs a note. I am actually relieved to know he's human, perfection like this is almost frightening.
john finck I don’t think that’s a flub at all ... basing it off of the following chord - it was intentional just a simple walk up
Ya, definitely intentional. He loves his emphasized chromatic passing tones. Genuine flub at 3:00 though
Yep, no flub. Just double stops and a bend. The flub at 3:00 was legit like was said.
Ken is still pissed from night before and Joey is totally fucked off with him, it's in the eyes lol
Best guitarist ever!
I'm not sure, but I think I saw Kenneth give Joey the stink eye during "New York"
Not fair that Kenneth play like that because I wanted to learn their songs, but it's not humanly possible

That's a beautiful bolo tie.
Simon and Garf even down to their sizes !...beautiful
Is it just me.or do in get a Simon and Garfunkel feel from.these guys.
As they've said. They're a folk duo, so there's some inherent similarities. Other than that fact, I don't hear a lot of similarity in their style.

Should be working but isn't this much much better

+Lucas Beslow "Because it's alluring." His words not mine.

This year we are ALL "couch potato guitarists"...
what kind of strings and what gauge????
If Simon and Garfunkel had liked each other...
I just skip through the songs to hear the banter.
+Krantz Yes!!!!!
+Krantz seriously, i think literally every interview i see them do they have an argument or make aggressive comments to each other. they're great
+Cameron Olson passive aggressive that is
+Krantz You're missing some beautiful music, then!
Joey looks baked.
Such nice music by such unlikable individuals which makes it sound worse to me.
