Lexus IS F. Luxury, comfort and craftsmanship are words often associated with Lexus. Any car maker would be happy to elicit such descriptions but Lexus wants more. Toyotas luxury division would love to add one more word to that list: Excitement. And the Lexus IS-F is the first step in making that a reality.

Think of the regular Lexus IS as the automotive equivalent of Clark Kent - mild-mannered and pleasant but a ittle light in terms of excitement. Like Kents alter ego Superman, the IS is transformed into superhero IS-F by way of a flashier outfit, quicker moves and a surplus of raw power. The result might not be faster than a speeding bullet, but it is a fast sedan that Lexus hopes will win over performance fans like the Man of Steel won over Lois Lane. That's cool. Another thing I read was, because of the 8spd transmission it actually gets decent gas mileage for a V8.
At the same time, they said 8 gears is too many (Always shifting)... They loved the manual mode though. I wan't to drive one so I can have my own opinion about it. I actually like all four of these amazing cars... The IS-F, the M3, the C63 & the RS4. I would love to own any of these cars :)

Great review by Kelly Blue Book. The IS-F looks good in this video. Nowadays, I think manual transmissions arent the best choice. Maybe even on track. I think a manual is like an automatic, only slower in a many drag races. With paddle shift and even auto's, you can change gears much quicker and you can control the vehicle like a stick. Saving 1/4 sec. each shift. The Jaguar XF's drive-selector should be ideal, and adding in paddle shifts. Sticks are the past, but it does appeal to a man.
I don't know about this car but, my father has a M.B CLS63 AMG which has 507 HP @ 6800 & 465 LBFT @ 5200 & it pulls like a SOB out of the hole. It feels like it has torque at all rpm's. I've never driven the IS-F but, I'm sure it pulls hard throughout the rev range.
Regarding your comment over 18 months ago. Are Stick Shift vehicles faster than automatics? Are they the same in engineering? If their pretty different in having to build, how come they cost nearly the same? How do you test whether a manual is faster or slower than an automatic of the same Brand and Model? Meaning manuals you tend to lag, how can it be a fair comparison?
I love this car.
I'm talking about the best of both worlds, not the same model vehicles. Between the best of a stick shift car (any car) and the best of an automatic car (could be any car), the best of a stick shift car will beat the automatic??
@PASSDEJOINT paddles are for the most extreme sports cars. Clutch and stick shift are way to slow
none of the problems you find with a manual? in case you dont know traditional manual gearboxes are some of the problem free parts of the car. These F1 gearboxes are ultra-complicated so mechanical problems are more likely.
So between a Dual Clutch Stick Shift Automated Manual Transmission vs a Pure Automatic (Paddle Shifter Push Button) advanced transmission, the Dual Clutch Stick Shift will win in the race?

LOL, tight backseats with 3 person in it. Of course, since this is a 4-seater car since the back seats are bucket styled seats for 2
I like how BMW fans hate this car and saying that the M3 is better, yes it is but only by a bit. How long have BMW been making sports cars? This is Lexus's first try, practice makes perfect! And the Mercedes shouldn't be compared to the Audi, Lexus, or BMW.

@ashton6637 So, it's poor handeling and massive wheight still made it slower than an M3 around the 'ring.

isf looks like an is350 from the front, the side lateral vents are not good enough in my opinion.
In the UK the C63 is most expensive.

@marnus2612 Well that's a nice car, but also way more expensive. But I looked on a website that reviewed it and they said the car seems detached from the road, which surprises me because it's a Audi. But the ISF is only Lexus' first try at a proformance car.

KBB just showed they were total ignorant snobs. The IS-F is not an automatic. It's like referring to Porsches as automatics. These cars have a Tiptronic, or in IS-F terms, a Direct Sport Shift gearbox. You can shift BOTH from the paddles OR from the stick, a very neat feature. KBB also neglected to mention the C63 was ///AMG, a crime in my book. Dumbasses didn't even mention the HP or Torque numbers. I'll help, 417 HP at 6600 revs and 371 ft-lb at 5200 for this 5.0L V8
m3 would smoke that, m3 is car&drivers best car in the world
should of hold off on the isf and saved up for a LFA

@Miike92 well i dont know i have the lexus ISF And I Enjoy My Ride ... And I Seen A Couple Of M3 For The Run And Miike92 is right the m3 dont have the look but by the way u cant always drive at 100mph so i just park the car outside and watch how i get da girls......

F stands for the race circuit and the slight curve on the upper side of the letter illustrated the first corner of the fuji circuit and i believe this review is full of mistakes

Hahah! i love how all you people that probably drive Dodge Caravans talk so much smack about this car. The m3 is an awesome car, but too common. I haven't seen another IS-F on the road yet.
Great car!! Very expensive up here in Canada. The fun starts at $67,700 , with the series 2 package add $4550 and you get $72,250 plus tax $81,642 ! but wait that not all! You have to pay the freight and administration fees. Bring $82,000.
yeah the old "my friend has one" ok....well ours, all brake rotors warped, transmission failed at 70k miles, odd noises and cheap materials, terrible refinement....if theyre so good...why are they going bankrupt....??? the only reason we have one is cause its the company car.

IS's rides are not that good for a luxury car to behin with...and those are M3's of previous generations...im not going with just topgear....anyways that shouldnt matter much, anyone in this market knows that they arent going to get the same ride as an S550 or LS460

well my sis has an IS250, and it does not ride well, maybe compared to standard toyotas and chevys, but not a Mercedes...anyways BMW still owns this sector.

idk why people still compare american cars in these...theyre so unrefined and plain shit...and the DCT transmission is just as fast as both of those. The C63 is a little more powerful but weighs more...so straight line acceleration is almost equal
They should not make a is c f because the sc is badicly the is c f.
but a manual would give the driver more a need of skill.
m3 is not agressive at all. It has the looks of a old civic. It is soo plain and bmws always look the same

this is a beast, that needs to be locked up in a cage, and fed meat from time to time, but that said i would still love to ride it!
i almost bought this car and im glad i didnt. theres much better cars coming out soon within the next 2 years, besides, the benz c63 amg and bmw m3 is way better than this crap
