Hi Charlene, I completely recognise how you are feeling. My eldest is now 21 and living in Leeds. I recognised that what I was feeling was grief. As a Mum, we have so many hopes and dreams for our kids. I didn't realise or acknowledge that when they leave, they only need us when THEY need us. I acknowledged that I wasn't the centre of his world anymore, and that was so tough for me. Everything you say I completely agree with, but on the flip side, there is us, the Mum. He was world ready to start his journey, and I felt left behind almost. I don't get to stand by his side and help steer the ship anymore. An end of an era and the start of a new. Very exciting to watch, but I didn't give much thought to being left behind. So, for me, it was and still is, to a certain extent, a grieving process and the release of any remaining attachment, too. ❤
