Fascinating. On the bus to and from school, an hour every day, I read Clan of the Cavebear in fifth grade in 1995. It changed my life. I remember everything clearly, as though it were yesterday. Thank you so much for changing my life through your art.
Genious books - certainly by a genial woman! WOW!!! That is the third time in my life that I read the books. The first time was for myself, as a teenager, the second time I read them to my kids and the third time I read them now. again. Cannot believe how genial is this woman! Chapeaux!!!
On the 30th of August 2018 walking on the platform at the High Barnet tube station I saw a book on one of the bence and I picked it up and started browsing through. In french the title is Les Enfants de la Terre by Jean Auel. And I got hooked.Who left that book there?I who loved book saw that book there and dealing with events of several thousands years ago....Serendipity?.Destiny?.DNA Human History..Fascinating strange ...
This was very nice, cut short I feel a bit rudely. Jean, as a slinger, this man would show his appreciation for your keen attention to detail. I truly don't know how you do it. Still wrestling with the double shot, but I am willing to believe if I had all day it could be done. Your herbal lore is wonderdully detailed as well, I would seriously consider taking this series in my apocalypse bag. I've actually gotten into both slinging and stone painting partly because of the influence of your books, and am beginning knapping and learning about what folks in the NorthEast US used for stone (lacking flint). So, thank you, not only for your attention to detail but for your well-crafted sense of storytelling. You have a keen sense of drama when it comes to it, but it is against a vast landscape that I have been privileged to see evolve. Your deacriptions of the caves were magnificent -- magnificent! Thank you.
Please make another one. I want to know about Aleah's new baby and family. Will she ever find Durk? What happened to Uba? So much needs to be known. Jean, you can't leave us hanging on.
Jean Auel was in Bowling Green, KY and I missed it?😢 I’m only an hour away and I was a student at WKU when I discovered her novels. I named my daughter, Kayla, after Ayla, the😂 smart, strong, independent heroine in the Earth’s Children series. She certainly lived up to the name with her love for fishing, ice fishing, and hunting and her special connection with animals and her work in veterinary medicine. I remember those LOOOONG waits for the 5th and 6th books, but it was worth it!
The 1st 3 books were the best. Why was it necessary to describe the intimacy between Ayla and Jondalar in such detail every time ? I thought it was too much. It is really a wonderful series and I just finished it yesterday.
The fifth and sixth were a pastiche/ soap opera of the material from the previous ones. The quality went down so much here, I actually wondered if the author was okay and whether it was the same person writing them.
why has there only ever been one movie??? I've seen clan of the cave bear numerous times, but have never been able to find any of the others, know I see there is a land of the painted caves movie...what about the other four books movies??????
The reason there was only one movie made is b/c the majority of the people that saw the movie when it came out, had never read the book and could not relate nor understand the scene when Ayla got raped and just judged the movie as in bad taste, it got bad reviews b/c the critics had never read the books at all. It came out at a time that did not do well at the box office, so it did not make back the money it had put into making the money and that is a Hollywood no no, in general. This is why a second movie was never made. I loved every book of the series and enjoyed the Clan Of The Cave Bear movie and the book. maybe one day, a fan of the book series will make a 'made for T.V.' series out of the whole book series and please every fan. She is an awesome writer as time is telling. It is the year 2020 now and she is close to 85 years old now, so I doubt there will be anymore books. :( ♥♥
@@seeDiersoilcrossrowds I also really don't like how they changed the ending. It's so out-of-character for Ayla to leave her child like that; the book ending is much better.
They're really good books but the last one was definitely kind of meh... I waited so long to read it. But the first book was simply amazing and the second book in third book I really really enjoyed. I didn't even plan on reading them I just forgot a book once in 7th grade and kind of the cave Bear was sitting there on the bookshelf for me to read.

It was so good! I read it about the same time in 7th grade. I'm a man and it's not easy to admit but I definitely cried at the end of the book.
I love her books. She is wonderful. Please God let her write more...alwaysv
looking for her books

Wonderful books and great interview.
I’m a tall (blonde before chemo) Ayla. Loved discovering all the similarities between the character and myself.

It's sex-ed, in the best form :-)

what would ayla do
I was disappointed with the last book, Jean could have finished these off with loose ends tied up - Alya meeting her first born child.
What book are you talking about? Because (spoilers), Ayla has more than enough time to meet her first born child.
She’s talking about Land of Painted Caves published 2011. The last book.
