    This is one of the easiest and most practical methods for secretly switching out cards. I'll be teaching a really fun trick next week that makes excellent use of this move!
    P.S. If you already know how to do the Glide, you still may want to check out the lesson video as I also teach and additional improved handling which has an advantage over the standard method.

    Weirdly got back into card magic after a year hiatus- only for you to start releasing content- amazing timing. Quality and content hasn't decreased at all- jumped right back where you started.

    If you continue to push the Ace in, you’re into a palm position. I can see this cool switch, followed by card to back pocket.

    I'd probably come up a way to mix this with letting the spectator pick the card, then put it on the bottom and perform this. Or make it more mysterious and not put it in the bottom, promise that you'll put it on the bottom, control it to second to last, maybe show the spectator the bottom and be disappointed that it's not their card, continue to deal "the bottom" and tell them it has turned into their card. It would also be fun to show them the random card first but deal their card, then perform "the magic" on the deck and show that in fact their card has disappeared from the deck, and show that it was on the table all along. There's quite a lot of options to combine it into a very mysterious rollercoaster of emotions it seems like.
    Very practical.

    I love things like this. I feel like there's a lot of people who try to learn crazy moves that I find aren't practical in live performance. For video purposes because of the time we are living in now people can be technical but I'm always a huge fan of simplicity. Magic doesn't need to be complex.

      @@Wir3dMagician I disagree strongly. The glide can be an extremely useful sleight, given that it’s used appropriately.

      @Wir3dMagician 3 роки тому +2

      @@ashwinsmagicandcardistry There are tons of different techniques to do the exact same thing. This move is not natural, no one deals the cards like that ergo: this move is for beginners.

    • @federicotomassetti9434
      @federicotomassetti9434 3 роки тому

      @@Wir3dMagician it's a youtube channel, so for sure it can be for beginners, but at my eyes it doesn't seem not natural. It all depends on you and your standard movements I think. If your spectators are used to your sleight and you do the movements always in the same way everything will be ok . Said that I'm a beginner and I'm nt an english mother tongue, so I apologize for any mistakes :)

  • @memorizer4941
    @memorizer4941 3 роки тому +1

    Out of curiosity, where did you learn this version of the glide (as opposed to the standard lengthwise grip) from? I’ve seen it in both Expert card Technique and Card Control (Arthur Buckley).

    • @52kards
      @52kards  3 роки тому

      I originally learned the lengthwise grip first too, but I just started doing it this way at some point since it's how I normally grip the deck and feels more natural.

    This is taught very differently in The Royal Road. Hand holding the deck jogs the cards in that version.

    I think you are overthinking this move. It can be done like the first method but without ever moving your index or thumb.. simply use your pinky of your left hand while turning the deck over to slide the bottom card to the side. That way your fingers of the left hand can be perfectly still, making it look like you’re doing nothing at all.

    Asad; love your work. But I hate the glide. It is so unnatural. A participant/spectator who sees you pull off cards from the bottom would have to think, "what?" Especially when you say - in the video - "Let's see if your card is at number 7 " ... and then you begin counting from the bottom! Maybe the glide passed muster in the old days, but I can't see it do anything but raise suspicion today.
