The Snap Change is one of the, if not the most visual color change out there. Popularized by David Blaine in his Street Magic TV special, it has now become a staple sleight of hand technique for card magicians world wide. It does have some angle issues, but when performed in the right environment it can create a moment of pure magic. Enjoy this one, it's a gem. Learn more at 52kards.com
The thing i find interesting about magic is that even when i know how trick is performed i still find it impressive because of the skill of the performer.
@@rymle you listen here, you don't have to be rude, I'm just stating my happiness and opinion so don't you dare even start a fight with me, learn how to respect others you piece of shit
Finally an in-depth guide on the snap change! All of the other videos I have found on UA-cam are like "OK here's how to do it OK bye" but this one actually goes into detail to tell you how to do it. Great video!
Reminds me of bad skateboarding trick tips. In I think the first CKY movie (maybe it was the second I don't remember) bam Margera does a hilarious parody of bad trick tips. He goes "ok, so the trick is a switch stance back side tailslide, AKA SSBSTS. Approach the ledge with speed, Ollie, turn, slide, and ride away clean." Lmaoo it's so funny, look it up on UA-cam if you want, it's hilarious especially if you skateboard or ever used to skateboard (and I mean real skateboarding, not some longboard shit, walking around with your longboard like a fad hopper wearing thick framed hipster glasses because you're willing to just jump aboard whatever's popular at that point in time no matter how embarrassingly pathetically obvious it is that you are doing so.
Ive been doing magic for 24 years, I have learnt hundreds of changes, slights subtlety etc palming methods and advanced manipulations, this change has always eluded me, you literally said ONE thing which ive never heard before in tutorials for this ONE thing, and i can finally do this, i honestly cant thank you enough!
honestly its a lil complicated, i have huge social anxiety problems always have, but when i get my cards out im taking people out of their comfort zone and putting them in mine, this allows me to relax, sets me at ease and my confidence sky rockets cos i know im about to make their day :)
I remember learning this trick like 10 years ago, and it took me months of practice to get it looking fairly good. Don’t give up! This trick takes lots of time to perfect, but once perfected, it blows peoples minds! Really good reactions. Also, for the people that have perfected it. You can take it a step further. Take three cards instead of two, do the snap change and the two cards will come to the front and fan out, making it look twice as amazing. Not only did you change the card, but you changed the card into two completely different cards. It also hides the back card that little bit better! Good fun.
THANKS SO MUCH! I used this to get a date to homecoming and she loved it! I had the first card say will you, then the other ome said go to hoco with me!
I almost never leave a like or a comment on a video but I'm definitely giving you one I watch 3 snap change tutorial unable to perform it growing increasingly frustrate because I was convince my hand was too small to allow my middle finger to pull back the card I saw your video and I thought to myself why the hell not in the middle of the video I stopped to go practice in front of my mirror within 10 - 20ish try I could do it the first time I succeed at a decent speed I was shock I spend a minute just starring at the card filled with joy and pride now 30 minute later I can do it pretty fast you will never see this but nevertheless Thank you
Learning how to actually snap the card didn't take me so long, but man oh man combining the snap + flick + some words, that's another level!! Brains on fire
This was the very very first move/trick I learned, 3 years ago. I still perform it today, and this tutorial reminded me of the awesome time I've had since I started magic :D Thanks Vinh!
Same thing for me! I tried to learn this when i started 2 years ago, but it didn't fit me as i wasn't able to perform it cleanly. Thanks to your advice i now love it, thank you!! :))
Great teaching. Clear, thorough, detailed, fun-really perfect. I'll be watching you a lot more. Thanks for the great job. You're a terrific teacher and person. Can't wait to get this change down.
Thank you! I’ve wanted to learnt this for the longest time. Finally did it today and have it almost perfected. As for “resetting” the cards, I’ve found that quickly slapping them back on top of the deck works pretty well. Pulling your indexed finger in towards the heel of your hand at the same time, will drag the front card almost entirely back into position with the “palmed” card. Rotating your wrist at the same time as you slap them back on top of the deck adds speed, flourish, and helps visually and audibly conceal the “rejoining” of the two cards. You can even work it into your routine if you like as this places the original “vanished/swapped” card to the top of the deck. It works nicely with my “bad penny” routine where a Joker keeps turning up like a bad penny instead of the expected card.
Wow you really teach this trick/illusion well! Thank you for all the subtleties that most of us need! I'm not a magician but I have been doing sleight of hand for 15+ years and "magic" tricks for 25 years. Again, thank you!
I've noticed while practicing this trick that with the right hand movement and a bit of practice, you could hide your card back as a double card. If you slide your dumb up and turn your wrist inwards, your cards re back against each other. A good excuse for executing this move is that you want to prove you're not hiding anything behind the card by showing the audience the side view. You do this move while you turn your cards.
I would not do that because as was already mentioned there is a chance it would flash. One thing to do is to pass it over the deck held in the opposite hand and drop the card on top. This is all about timing.
If you do it quick enough, you could even show you have two cards, then bam! They are reversed. That's what I'm trying to do. I have his trick down pat. Now I'm trying to do it so I can show the people i DO have two card then I flick the cards and they switch spots
I learned it around two days both hand working and alive , i did it by using with cheap deck . but i don't think cheap deck make a good slide tho . if you want to show this magic to your friend . atleast you bought bicycle card . depend on your currency .
Serendipity or what , I watched this video 3 years ago and learnt this trick , now I watch askvinh videos all the time to better my communication skills , didn't realize that the same person taught me magic .
Two things: First thank you for teaching me how to do this trick. I look forward to practicing it. Second, thank you for being a delightful person. I loved how you opened this with a story about meeting people. It was very nice.
If you're having trouble doing this move, and the placement of fingers feels outright weird try it with the ring finger. That's index, middle and ring finger at the front of the card, with ring finger doing the flicking motion. It's quite a knacky move, but learning it this way felt so much more right for me. But try both and stick with what you prefer since every hand is something unique. Just a little tip, you know.
That was by far the best instructional video EVER teaching how to perform the snap change. Thank you so much for taking the time to go over every detail so clearly. I’ve been failing for years to master it... now that I am aware of the need to relax my index finger I can finally can do it well enough to start truly practicing. Thanks a million! 🃏♦️🎩
Excellent tutorial. Thank you. Regarding the flick, I would say, aside from distraction, it actually makes it make more sense in the mind. Magic needs something. Some sort of movement, or focus. Either words, or gestures. And that is the gesture. Timed right, it seems like it was the flick that caused the change.
Just want to say 100% brilliiant tutorial, I struggled initially to get to "grip" with the techinique but you demonstrated it so cleanly and clearly that within a within a minute or so, I got the technique, I can't perform the trick fast enough but I have only just watched your video, plenty of practice coming up! Thanks again for your brilliant tutorial 👌
I had watched another video on this, and you go way more into depth. My major problem was applying to much pressure to the cards as I was doing it!. Awesome vid.
Loved the tutorial! Well performed! I've actually learned this trick for 5 or 6 months before this and I'm confident enough with holding the card in the middle rather than being in the bottom of the card by tilting the cards a bit upwards. But, I think I've gotta learn this new holding trick!! 😊😊
No matter how many times I see it is a trick and no matter how it is explained I still believe in magic. To be able to do this must take unbelievable amount of time, only true magicians can accomplish that. Awesome teaching great video for future card magicians... I'll be watching you.
Vinh Giang you're great at teaching as well. I always teach things this same way, and never ever have I found anyone else who has the common sense to do so as well- what I mean is, (and it applies to "explaining" anything really as well) that you go over everything and explain to the listener what they need to know whilst assuming they don't know anything about what you're teaching/telling them yet. If you're teaching a skill or trick or something and you do know that they're aware of one of the steps then that's a little different- but you'd be amazed how many people just teach or even explain things to others as if the other person already knows 30% of what is being told/taught. It's like they're defining a word and using that same word relentlessly throughout their definition
hmm u r putting pressure on the lower finger more than upper finger behind them with the help of ur thumb. try placing the thumb equally on both fingers that r on the front from the back
It took me a few hours of practicing, while I was bored or just hanging around I practiced it and I’ve got it down! It was much easier than I thought, thank you for this tutorial. ❤
