- Pete Townshend and The Deep End - A Little Is Enough
2. song of the greatest concert ever!
This video is recorded from a Laserdisc which should be the highest quality source currently availabe. Unfortunately, there is no DVD :( Just second hand VHS or Laserdiscs.
If you like it, go and buy a CD - it's called Pete Townshend's Deep End Live!
It does not contain all song from this concert, only 12 of them (be careful to buy the version with 2 bonus tracks).
(C) Copyright Eel Pie and Atlantic video.
I hope the guys from Atlantic will die in pain for not releasing a DVD.
What Springsteen is to some, Townshend is to me.
A hate object?
Yes.
@@thomasandersen6719 The Loss is, not Pete.
Springsteen wishes he could wash Petes shoes.
@@ge2623 Pete actually went to Bruce's first UK shows -- offered him plenty of advice. You can read about this in "Born to Run," Springsteen's autobiography
GOD GENIUS lyrics, alien guitar skills, Pete is the Penultimate.
I love this live version of A Little Is Enough. The brass really adds a whole nother dimension to the already sensual song.
Agree 💯
Absolutely right. It elevates the song in so many ways
I really think this is one the best rock songs ever. I never tire of it, the lyrics are so great. Well done Pete!
Townshend's music and lyrics are food for the soul.
Hey nice profile pic
@@imspecialinabadway haha! Thanks, you too
Pete rocks. Period. Legend.
Pour your heart out Pete! Absolutely the best....
That is the greatest rock ‘n’ roll concert I have ever seen, hands-down.
Wow, so much talent on one stage.
If Pete had kept Deep End going for a couple more years, he might’ve had a very different career. Still, no complaints.
Can't get enough!
WHAT A BAND!!!!!! WHAT A SONG!!!!!
Incredible version... I think I like it better than the studio version!
I like most of Pete's live stuff more than the studio versions.
Everything Pete does is better live I have listening to Pete Townshend The who since 68- 69. And listen to an interview with him and he said that most of his work is for the stage. And Pete Townshend is a musical genius
I love this Man! Keep singing Pete! Saw you last week...You are the sun that warms those that listen....I will always be in Townshend land and thank you for that love!
Pete Townshend is a musical genius. Nothing more to be said
@@jimwelsh997 Yes he is and beyond! Thanks Jim!
The story of why he wrote this song (from his autobiography) brought a tear to the eye.
Love the wind chimes at the beginning! The main synth riff from this tune appears in lyric form in Pete's "Uniforms (Corps d'Esprit)". I love how he mixes and matches melodies over the years as he figures out the final and proper destination of bits and pieces of composition.
Pete scrapes springsteen off the bottom of his Birkenstock’s at the end of each day!
Reminds me of my dad. Happy Father's day to all fathers out there (myself included)
my favorite townsend song....
Pete rocks and wrote probably the most thought out music that will last for years, even other than a song like "Who Are You"!
The song Who are you wasn't as much of a inspiration as some other songs but the video and a poster I hung in my bedroom was. As a Strat player my whole playing time him with Les Paul #6 and playing in front of a wood and wicker Boogie really stuck in my mind. Enough to get a black Les Paul and a wood and wicker Boogie in my life to this day. Still got a fantastic Strat but use my Les Paul a lot all through that W a W Boogie S O B . I think about that poster a lot and even watch the video just cause of that poster from 40 yrs ago. I play certain Who and solo songs just not that 1. Very important song writer in my life. But as someone commented here so is Springsteen.
This makes the studio version literally obsolete..
My God, how this rocks!
This is a treasure if only for that piccolo trumpet.
great performance
Remember people, this is from a guy who is all but deaf at this point.
never misses a note !!!
My wife and I have made this our song. Especially when we get mad at each other. Just a little is enough. Not everyone understands.
Musical Genius
Straight from the heart. You can feel it.
This might sound weird but I like watching Pete on stage especially when he's singing
Weird no at all I saw the who 5 times and my ears are still ringing and I fucking love it
And Pete Townshend is a musical genius
Thanks for the upload!
Bongos, love em
A full-throated tune coming at you. Is Rabbitt on synthesizer?
I was at this
SOMEWHERE are 5 people that gave this song a negative..... I hope they don't run for office.....
David Gilmour on the axe
That dude playing the drums had to be one of the greatest drummer's back then. I know his name Simon but I don't remember his whole name. He is not Keith Moon but he does kick the shit out of those drums. PETE TOWNSHEND is a musical genius nothing more to be said about that.
Can someone tell me which synth model is being played by Mr. Bundrick in the intro?
I was just thinkin' the same thing! He did during this era.
There is another video of this song (must be same series of concert) with a disastrous ending - some kind of misunderstanding between the horn section and rest of the band : hilarious !
It's Gilmour, mensos! Welcome to Rock-n-Roll!
Simon has a St. Louis Cardinals hat & SF 49ers jersey...WTF?
PETE TOWNSHEND
Nice!
It took a while for psychoderelict to go DVD. So hopefully !!
Simon = Awesome
I missed a calling somehow. I haven't heard anyone play bongos congos tombas as good as I can except for some of Santanas guys. God that sounds self elevating I know but I see people playing and think , move aside. Just gimme a chance. God what Id give to be on stage with PT and DG..
Pete when is you little is all
Is that Simon Philips on drums??
The one and only!
David Fucking Gilmour!
Rock musicians in suits or muscle shirts, looks funny from today, but they made us so mature :-)
Is it me or does Pete look like Nicholas Cage here?
Noticed it right away. Wearing make up or something. Looks like Cage fo sho!
was this his pinnacle of his career????
No.....he hasn't reached his pinnicle yet!
I wonder if it was Pete's idea to change the ending in major rather than in minor like on the album. Might have been that you can't have a fadeout like on the album either. Would have been kind of a bummer to finish in minor a song that starts in major anyway...
I prefer the album version but for a show this makes more sense.
This is what, 1984? 1985?
I'm seeing Pete, another guitar, bass, drums, percussion, harmonica (?!), four horns, two women ("and the colored girls sing, doo d'doo..."), three male singers... Did I miss anyone? 15 people onstage. And the concert version of Quadrophenia died because Pete wouldn't add a keyboard player.
Win Bent Roger didn’t want the keyboard player
No it is not David Gilmour, it is Gene Simmons in full makeup
People focus on some really minor shit. The song and performance are great.
I did not know Joe Montana played drums.
is a little bit slower than the album track, could it be faster?, a little is enough... *tudum dum ptsss*
But rocks so much more! The arragement is much better!
I thought this was going to be a littles enough by angels and airwaves lol :)

pete told the bass player to settle down in this video
Fantastic song for this poor sound...
Damn I love those black girls
Tempo is slow........I like the original much better.
I think he is bisexual, he's admitted to gay affairs and having a crush on Mick Jagger but he has also been married once; has several children; and is currently in a relationship with a woman, Rachel Fuller and has been with her for a long time now.
Is Pete Townshend gay. He just doesnt appear so. But I believe he is. Just sayin.
who cares if he is . is that bad. are u a gay? are u bad
Why does it tickle you so ?...if he is, he makes a damned good job covering it up...without appearing to...!...I think, knowing his ways, he'd be open about it...
Kenny Jones said "he's an odd fellow but definitely not gay".
Who cares
