Great game! And PBY pilots/crews were some of the bravest crews of the Pacific War. They saved countless downed airman and ship crews while at sea. There’s actually an account of one landing to save a torpedo bomber during the attack on the Yamato.
This one was much more fun then the current WW2! Really getting tired of America steam rolls through and no other side is recognized. Every side deserves to be shown!
You people need to grow up. If it was a British series guarantee it would center on them to the point that history would be warped and we'd see things like Lancasters dropping the nukes, Royal Marines island hoping etc.

It a merchant ships, so it is understandable, they are using 50.cal and 20mm which have quite pack of a punch to the wood and light armoured steel ships hull. The enemy also loading fuel, ammo in that ship.
I can't believe there are people who does not know there are steel plate covering the ship's deck and its thicker than your average sherman. These wooden decks are for visual purposes, the steel decks are usually concealed by the layer of wooden deck.
For those who Complain mg take out full squadron of Zero plane read about the Zero Nickname "FLYING MATCHES" the zero dont have protection layer like the american plane due to their terorism believe "Kamikaze" mission

The Consolidated PBY-5 (this being the -A model) in the Pacific was used by the US Navy, not the Army Air Forces. The USAAF did not do Black Cat missions. The USAAF was in the Pacific with Mustangs, Thunderbolts, Lightnings, and Warhawks.
1: They were merchant ships, not battleships, they had nowhere near 100mm of armor 2: The Black Cats actually did this kind of thing, so its not nonsense, they ravaged Japanese merchant ships all across the pacific with black painted PBY's with bombs, torpedoes, and .30/.50 cal machine guns.
To be fair, you're comparing one of the strongest weapons back in WW2 to one of the weaker weapons of today's times. A .50 cal on a plane was amazing back in the war but nowadays, it is not that strong when an aircraft can carry a ASM, which can sink a ship faster than a .50 cal could ever hope for.
Anyone know how accurate this mission would be in real life? Using these seaplanes to strafe enemy ships like that considering how slow and lightly armoured they are....
The black cats did exist in WW2 raiding Imperial Japanese's merchant ships on night time though but not on this intensity. The game wasn't actually meant to be historically accurate since it was supposed to be a prequel to the black ops series.
I wish my gunners were like this in war thunder.

This looks realistic with everyone screaming, gunshots, plane sounds, explosions, kamikaze sounds, the fire, the smoke, etc. It looks real war
The planes kamikaziing into the ships and water with the "REEEEEERVREEEEEE" gave me chills

A quick note:
PBY-5 catalina did NOT had 20mm cannon...
It had a max 12.7mm
There was a version of catalina with dual front mounted hispano 20mm automatic cannons, not in a turret though.

This is one of the best missions that Call of Duty made.
Some of the American ships get shot and blow are destroyers some of them has similar looks. like the first class destroyes, Melvin and Fletcher.
