I play a '70s Fender Telecaster that's been my primary bass for 30 years and for a time I had a '66 Thunderbird as well. Those De Gier basses sound amazing and truly capture the tones of the basses they are emulating.
Nice review! The fiesta red bass really grows on you. First I had to wait for Gregor to send it back to Sander :) Now I own it for a couple of weeks and I cannot stop playing it. Very inspiring instrument, not only its unique sound but also playability is excellent. I sold another bass to get this one, best decision ever!
The early 50s P bass pickup and the late 60s Tele bass pickup (very similar single coil pickups) are the best sounding bass pickups. I'm surprised that more makers don't use them. They just create the most perfect bass sound. Those De Gier basses do sound great, especially the blue one.
I used to have a bass like this. The through-the-body bridge is a bad idea. It makes the higher register of the E string so out of tune it's unusable. It once caused the E string to break, on stage! I modified the bridge to be more normal. This was the original Precision bass. Then in 1956 Fender went to the current model.
De Gier is up there with the very best. No question about it… Not cheap but fair priced for a handmade masterpiece. Don’t judge before you actually played them.
I have encontered basses with truss rod adjustments at the bass body ( Not in the neck ) where the truss rod adjustment opening is " Too Small " for the truss rod adjustment tool to work without damaging ( Scratching ) the pick guard. As a result, the neck had to be detached from the bass body to adjust the truss rod noting this is painful. Have you tested the truss rod adjustment on these basses to see if access is done easily without contortions, without special tools and with " No " damage ( Scratching ) to the pick guard. Note: Thes basses sound awesome !
For 4150 euro, you can find a vintage Fender or a custom shop and have some spare money, and as much as they try nobody will ever come close to a sound of a vintage instrument, not to mention they have more of a resale value than these basses. To me the noise-cancelling single coils never have that single coil twang and I'd much rather have some hum than a plastic sounding pickup. Yes it is hard to hear that difference in a mix, but if I don't like the bass sound dry out of the amp I feel inclined to avoid it when picking an instrument to play. Just my two cents, the sire D5 is a much better option for a LOT less money.
Fender made them in the 70s, called A-neck Precisions. I have two of them. They are awesome. For buget basses the new Squier Sonic P-Basses have a jazz necks and NO extra bridge pickup.

Actually old instruments can be incredible, and they sometimes tell a story. Artificially "aged" instruments suck. There, I said it. It's an euphemism for "we couldn't bother to get the finishing right, and we'll even charge you extra for that!" And people buy them - it's unreal. PS. These don't even *sound* that good.

A jazz bass does not have a "neck" pickup. That is, a pickup at the end of the neck. As seen on EB3 basses. It has a "middle" pickup, and a bridge pickup. With the "middle" pickup being near to the centre of the body when measured from the bridge to the neck.
The finish has zero impact on the sound of an electric instrument. The sound of an electric instrument comes from the electronics and only the electronics. Tone woods, finish, hardware material etc are all snake oil. For the love of god please stop with this.
Please educate yourself on these topics. It always baffles me that people who have obviously never compared similar instruments with different features make these claims towards industry professionals. Confidence should be backed up by knowledge. Go and learn

maybe take the time and get some real world experience. Go to a well stocked guitar shop and compare 2 identical Fender basses, one with a maple fretboard and one with a rosewood fretboard. This is just one change, that already has an audible impact on the vibe of these basses. But it goes much deeper if you're willing to dig deeper. I'm well educated in this matter. I've worked in this industry for over 20 years and spent a lot of time to learn what impact different woods, parts and finishes have. There are tons of videos backing your opinion on UA-cam, but they're all flawed. Of course pickups & electronics have a massive impact on sound. But it's foolish to think other factors have none. Doesnt seem to be made very well, bridge is shit, frett board is cracked on one , pickup winding on single coil shows instead of being covered ! Not good at all !
Crazy how much people are willing to pay for inferior hardware, just for the vintage look and vintage sound (e.g. possibly (not necessarily) bad intonation with this bridge 😅)

That’s typically an issue with Vintage or Reissue Fender Basses. De Gier does not make mistakes like this
