daniel hindley this post has nothing to do with evolution. But compared to other historical figures the evidence for his life is astounding. To deny the accounts of Jesus you would have to deny truths about any historical figure because Jesus was most well documented.
But just so you know christians believe in speciation and adaptation. So in a nutshell (and please don’t be overly critical of this example) a lion can become a leopard, and a leopard can become a cougar and a cougar a housecat (speciation) and a leopard that lives in the mountains could become a snow leopard and have a get a white coat (adaptation), but christians don’t believe that a dog could become a cat or a fish could become a bird. We are also awestruck at the world. And think it’s just as ridiculous to think that this world could have come from nothing. In Romans 1:18-20 says,

I had many misconceptions and hearsay opinions until I actually began to read the Bible for myself and I found that I was miserably ashamed of my arrogance and biases, God forgive us all, since not one is good not one but his son, praise God.

Most errors are through translation. If you refer to the Aramaic and Hebrew Bibles it is better explained.

The last point he made was very important. Papyrus in the 1st century was extremely expensive. People taught one another orally. They had fantastic memories because, as Frank said, they didn't have cell phones, computers or even paper to write down everything. So when someone important (Jesus) said something to them, they memorized it and could recall it later with great accuracy.

Those words are an exact quote from Psalms 22 which was written a thousand years before Jesus and tells everything that would happen on the cross. Jesus was teaching that we need to read to old testament to understand what happens. Great questions! I think Frank responded to Grace's underlying concern, but a more direct answer to her first question is that scribal errors can be accounted for in a variety of ways. Some changes were accidental (copying a word twice, omitting a word, skipping a line, misspelling, etc...) but some changes were intentional (conflating readings, clarifying speakers, etc...). Frank is right that we know where these variants are. In response to her 2nd question, I would add that we don't have to blindly follow the majority text. It's not the number of manuscripts that determine the original. Often, it's the shorter and harder reading that most likely gave rise to the later readings in the majority text. Variants in the New Testament don't have to shake our faith.

If there was just the oeiginal, then the original could have many interpolations or removal of words. As a result, it would be less reliable.
But if u got multiple copies of the original, CRAAP test can be applied and if one person alters the text, it can be easily identified

Having copies might mean you can piece together simple mistakes, but it cannot tell you if whole sections were removed or made up from the original.
But if someone have the original it doesnt matter how error the copies that person can say "ive the original" instead of "ive copy II" which can be wrong too. Preserving the original is so much better. I think Frank is made mistake

Have you considered that all or most of Frank's apologetics have already been compiled into these slides to have ready (as visual aid/added credibility) for any questions that may come up? In other words, the slides don't prove the questions are planned, but rather anticipated. Watch the visual cue he gives his tech at 4:26, I imagine they practice pulling up these slides at a moments notice to be synchronized with his words.

A person who is genuineky seeking answers about God, Jesus and/or salvation isn't concerned about scribal errors, when reading the Bible. The message of salvation has never been changed, regardless of errors or whatever translation one reads.

The texts of all three chapters are different in many respects. We intend to give
only three discrepancies in this book. 1. We read in Acts this statement:

voice, but seeing no man 96.”
This statement is contradicted by the following statement:
“And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but
they heard not the voice of him that spoke to me 97.”
The contradiction between ”hearing a voice” and ”heard not the voice of
him” speaks for itself.
2. Again in Chapter 9 we find Paul quoting these words of Jesus:
“...and the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it
shall be told thee, what thou must do 98.”
Chapter 22 also contains this:
“Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which
are appointed for thee to do 99.”
But in Chapter 26 we are told a different story:

purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which
thou has seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee.
Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I

sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in

It may be noted that according to the first two texts, Jesus did not assign
any duty to Paul at this occasion, but he was promised that he would be told
after he arrived in Damascus, while the later statement shows that Jesus
explained his duties at the time of his appearance.
3. It is understood from the first text that the people who were with Paul
stood there silently, while the third text shows them as having fallen onto
the ground, and the second text does not mention it at all.

God has the power to preserve his word. If you can believe God has the power to create the universe and everything we see in six days, then you should be able to believe that God has the power to make sure his true word is available to every generation with corruption. It would be unjust if man had corrupted God's word and that no longer was there a perfect Bible in the languages we speak today.
I think you have to understand that the quantity of people who wrote back then was not like it is now with nearly 100% literacy in our developed countries. If you could write back then, you were EXTREMELY useful, and people didn't have time to waste such an ability on making things up or purposefully altering things out of enjoyment or agenda. If you were going to translate something like a biblical account, you probably were a Christian/Jew/Hebrew that was serious about propagating the correct message. You made damn sure what you were writing was as accurate as possible. You were a scribe, and not everyone had the same abilities as you. You were serious in preserving a text that you believed should be remembered for generations upon generations. It is ridiculous to believe you can view cultural values the same way over the course of literal millennia. These people weren't just sitting around in air conditioned rooms writing comic books. They were writing down what they believed to be the most important documents of all of humanity. That responsibility was surely taken with a great deal of diligence and respect.

I beg to differ with Frank on this one. The Jehovah's Witnesses altered the meaning of a very short scripture with the placement of ONE letter, and another scripture with the placement of a comma. Both instances change the meaning of the scriptures and how they may be understood by a NEW believer.
One is John 1:1 The Word is God to The Word is A god.
Luke 23:42-43 Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” They move the comma to read: “Assuredly, I say to you today, you will be with Me in Paradise.” See how it can alter the meaning in a subtle way?

'Gospels are not accurate' vs 'texts we have are accurate copies'. I could make a 100% accurate copy of some Harry Potter book, but that doesn't mean the content of the copy (original or not) is accurate to real life.
You are comparing a fictional writings to non fuctional writings. Harry Potter never existed but Jesus did. There was actual historical evidence that Jesus existed. However people disagree on whether He was just a religious teacher or God in human form.

As far as the trinity goes Jesus is not The Father (the one Jesus directly interacted with a lot - Matthew 3:17, Luke 9:35), The Father is not The Holy Spirit (and vice versa following the same logic) yet they all are God. Each of them have their own roles in the trinity. So as Christians follow Jesus, who is God (Philippians 2:5-6, John 1:18), we are ultimately worshipping God

The nearly identical translations/transliterations of the Dead Sea Scrolls and the King James Bible just add onto the divine inspiration and miraculous preservation of the holy Word of God. Later manuscripts have it, then more and more as time went by because the addition was then copied and recopied.
Some bibles have the statement, but give an indication or a footnote stating that it wasn't in the older manuscripts.
People make a mountain out of a molehill of this topic.
It really isn't such a big problem.
This is a good example, but the "errors" most people talks are just translations than can be "better", but is completely normal, and ofcourse is always better to get closed to the hebrew culture to understand the message better.

In The KJV I have found many errors. The reason for the errors is we have a translation of the original.
A Greek and Hebrew scholar once said, trying to translate the Greek and Hebrew language to English and not lose the true meaning is almost impossible. Some of the true meaning has been watered down, not intentionally, but it's what happens during the translation.

What a shame that people are fooled by this, when the manuscript in original is talked about it means the language it was written in when it is translated to any other language it looses a lot due to differences languages have as per their socio/politico_economic evolution and when no original document is there one cannot say what the alterations are and retrieve the original from.
For example if Goethe's original manuscripts are lost the translations wouldn't retrieve the original. It's very easy to see nobody has succeeded to retrieve the omitted part of Micheal Angelo's painting even.

My computer has in it replies to hundreds of questions.... Every time I answer a question, I have the foresight to save it. Because I know that I will get that same question again. Retyping the answer to a question over and over again every time you need it when you have access to a computer is just stupid. I would say the same thing would apply to Frank Turek and his presentations. The fact that he can pull up a slide to help answer an off the wall question at any time is simply a matter of good organization.

In Matthew 1:16 it is written that Jacob was the father of Joseph, who was the husband of Mary and in Luke 3:23 it is written that Joseph (husband of Mary) was the son of Eli. The question is... Who of the two (Jacob or Eli) was Joseph's father?

Something else I'd like to point out. These videos are clearely edited for brevity sake, if for no other reason. Some have commented about how fast Dr. Turek was able to bring up power point responses to questions asked. But two things about that. For one, he has to approach his computer to find the power points. And for another, there is clearly video editing of when he approaches his computer and the time it takes for them to appear on the screen. The video was edited so that we are not seeing the time it takes for him to find them, so that, to us it appears as though it took no time at all. That just isn't the case. And by the way, editing videos in this way is just normal and common practice in filming and presentation - lest someone now further accuse him of deception.

When he said, you can reconstruct the original, at the 0:57 point, I don't necessarily agree with that 100%. To know what an original document actually stated, there are a lot of factors that could come into play. For starters, let say an original document was written by someone in the year 50AD and it gets lost, but there are other copies that exist which were all written in the 3rd century. A person can study those copies and compare the errors, but doing that won't necessarily reconstruct the ORIGINAL document. It's very possible that something could get added by a person other than the original author that shows up in the copies, but was never in the original document. I THINK a good example of this would be the following passages in the Bible:
Mark 16 : 9 -20
John 7 : 53 - John 8 : 1 - 11
Those passages are present in later manuscripts, but they are not present in earlier manuscripts. This is why those passages are included in the KJV. Translators for the KJV only had access to a small number of manuscripts while it was being composed. Later in the 17th century after the KJV was composed, more and more earlier manuscripts were discovered. It's more likely that the earlier a copy is, it's probably a lot closer to the original. For this reason, passages like those and many other or either italicized, footnoted or not even included in the RSV, NIV and even the Jehovah's Witness Bible.
Some people say this kind of stuff is trivial and doesn't matter, but I disagree. If the Bible are actually the words of God to man, I think even the trivial stuff matters and it really matters if entire pages are left out, or if other stuff gets added in.

I have never heard of entire pages being left out of the Bible. But I can tell you this with absolute certainty: if you really want to save yourself, you can pray that God will give you faith. This is part of the difficulty of the modern age, we are so far removed from the times, places, cultures, and languages of the Bible. Personally I think that God knew that there would always be scoffers. There were even when Christ was on the earth. Even seeing miracles in front of your eyes didn't make believers. God just doesn't force faith on people. But faith is, essential to say the least.

@kpec3arrival Mark 16:9-20 is such a page. It's a more-recent replacement for what appears to be "entire pages being left out of the bible". Also, you may what to look into the history of the four gospels. They are out of order in the bible from the time of their authorship. Mark was the first written. Mark describes Jesus as pretty much a prophet, but very human. Matthew and Luke came next, which describe Jesus as a direct representative and creation of God. John came last, and describes Jesus as being God. Here's the funny part: all the letters from Paul (that are listed after the gospels in the bible) are actually older than any of the gospels, and they don't mention most of the qualities of Jesus or his stories that are found in the later gospels. It's an interesting transformation of Jesus becoming more fantastical, holy and god-like with each generation of stories being told about him.
Most Christian scholars say Matthew and Luke borrowed much text from Mark as a template for their on respective gospels (i.e., Markan priority).
So while the skeptic might be "wrong" to accept Markan priority, she certainly cannot be considered "unreasonable". Thus it is reasonable for a skeptic to accept Markan priority.
Even *inerrantist* Christian scholars admit that Matthew sometimes "changed" or "corrected" or "toned down" Mark's words:

If Matthew believed Mark's text was "inerrant", then Matthew would have believed Mark's particular choice of wording is precisely what God intended. Think about it: you are an inerrantist, correct? Have YOU ever "toned down" text you believe Mark authentically put in the gospel bearing his name? NO.
If Mark said Jesus "could" not do a miracle due to the unbelief of others (Mark 6:5-6), you do not "tone down" this expression. Thus, as an inerrantist, you are forced to disagree with any Christian who WOULD tone down Mark's expression, such as Matthew, who renders this in 13:58 to say Jesus "did" not do a miracle.
Mark's expression denies Jesus' ability. Matthew's expression only denies Jesus' action. Matthew was clearly dissatisfied with Mark's text, so Matthew clearly wasn't an inerrantist.
We are reasonable to agree with most Christian scholars that Matthew in 13:58 is indeed toning down Mark's expression:
6:5 This statement about Jesus’ inability to do something is one of the most striking instances of Mark’s boldness and candor. It is omitted by Luke 4:16-30 and toned down by Matt 13:58.

No, Dr. Blomberg, because a) you don't know that Matthew's version is an "interpretation", it could just as easily be a "correction", and b) the better question to ask is why Matthew didn't believe the way most inerrantists do today, i.e., that Mark's text is clear and doesn't need "interpretation". Indeed, there is nothing about Matthew's version that suggests it is an "interpretation" in the first place.
Since this is only a defense of the skeptic's "reasonableness", the fact that some inerrantist might not accept Markan priority, is irrelevant. The skeptic can be reasonable with these arguments even if the inerrantist doesn't agree with Brooks, or doesn't accept Markan priority.

My kjv is worn out and not that old. I have other translations that I’ve been given over the years as gifts that are still prestige. In a thousand years my kjv will be gone but those other translations/manuscripts will last forever

I'd argue that you're misquoting Erhman. He does not believe that the NT text is reliable because he doesn't outright say it. He just said that the mistakes don't affect the core Christian beliefs, which isn't saying that they don't affect the historical evidence for the NT.
