      Those that can make you believe absurdities can make you commit attrocities. Such is the power and evil of religion.
      A disturbed person is a Christian and wants to shoot up a school. The person prays and prays and prays for god to help him, but his anger is too great. He gets a gun an starts shooting innocent people, killing dozens, until He is shot by the police. As he is dying, the shooter says, "I'm sorry God...I tried but I wasn't strong enough. You have always been my saviour please forgive me for my sins...I repent..." and then dies.
      And your god welcomes him into heaven.
      During the same rampage, an atheist teacher repeatedly goes into the hallway to save the lives of students. After saving a dozen children, he is shot by the gunman and he falls inside his classroom and students lock the door. A student says they will pray for him. His response is, "Why? There is no god...." and he dies.
      And god sends him to hell to be tortured for eternity in the flames.
      And you have no problem with this. Absurdities and atrocities.

      I don't see it. Neither does science. Note that science isn't absolute (that's why Frank hates it. He needs that anchor in his life), it's about probabilities. Randy had a prize of $1M for anyone who could prove the supernatural. The prize was never claimed. So much for "objective reality".

    • @ron7328
      @ron7328 Рік тому +4

      @@HansBezemer he doesn't hate science. he's just pointing out what the most logical conclusion is. when have you ever seen life come from non-life? How do we get order out of chaos? the logical conclusion is that there is a creator because it's scientifically impossible that everything we know and see came from nothing. the universe is chaotic, it can't put things in order on it's own. there has to be someone or something fine tuning the universe for it to work. it's like playing a musical instrument. an instrument can't play itself. a musician has to play the right notes in the correct order for it to work. Nobody can truly prove anything. All we have is evidence and the evidence points to a creator. not nothing.

    • @HansBezemer
      @HansBezemer Рік тому

      @@ron7328 It's simple - the universe AS A WHOLE falls into chaos. That doesn't mean that it happens everywhere at the same rate at the same time. E.g. there is a remote chance that all molecules in a container end up in the same corner. That's how probability works.
      And there is no fine tuning of the universe. It's a compelling philosophical question, but there is NO PROOF whatsoever that these constants even could be different. The reason for that is very simple. We've never seen a case where 1+1 doesn't equal two. We've never seen a triangle which angles do not add up to PI radians. We've never seen a consequence preceding a cause.
      Hence, it's completely possible that those values cannot be different at all.
      I give you another example. As someone with both a CS degree and a biology degree I can tell you DNA is not nicely laid out. There are lots of duplications, inefficiencies, non-coding DNA - errors no well thinking developer would make. I've also experimented with generating code using genetic algorithms. You find the same sort of flaws in code that is generated that way. So either God is a very lousy programmer OR those sequences were generated by a genetic algorithm.
      Every theory is composed of pieces of evidence. When the evidence is compelling, a hypothesis becomes a theory with a higher of lower degree of certainty. In science, it's rare to find absolute truths. There is always a degree of uncertainty. However, some hypothesis have more credibility than others. The credibility of ID is quite low. There is absolutely nothing that clearly points to design.
      As a matter of facts, recently we found that RNA molecules can replicate and are subject to algorithmic improvements, just like DNA molecules. That you haven't seen it or believe it is inconsequential. That's merely a fallacy of incredulity. I haven't seen the sun rise this morning. Yet I reasoned that it has.

Yeah, the bible doesn't tell us about other universes. It literally only talks about our planet as if it is the entire universe because that's what bronze age mythology tells them.

      Sure, much agreed.
      The Scientific methods limitation is that it cannot measure or assess non-physical things.
      So it's useless to verify or falsify Metaphysics: those realities that are Spiritual & Mental:
      How much does Love weigh ?
      Hate ?
      Truth ?
      History ?
      These things lack all physical reality, yet they control or effect all Physical reality.
      This is why using so called "Scientific" objections to God's existence are fallacious.
      When a prominent (Atheist) Scientist stands up & declares
      "God MUST not exist because we can't locate or measure Him", watch out.
      That man has just stepped outside the realm of Science into Philosophy, but either hasn't recognized it or isn't being honest about his Transition.
      He's now operating as a Materialist but making absolute claims about a Metaphysical reality Science can't speak to.
      At best he's confused - at worst he's an covert Evangelist for Athestic Materialism, yet unaware of both his predilections against God's Ordained Spiritual reality OR the limits of Scientific observation.
      The Truth is we all know God us our CREATOR, Father & Redeemer from within ourselves - God has whispered this in our Conscience, shown it in Nature & Written it in His WORD.

      It doesn't apply to God, because God is not part of nature. Nature was created by him. Christians don't believe in a created God. We believe that creation came out of God and thus all the laws of physics--everything material--is caused by him.

      This is the 21st century dumbass, stop talking that way. And actually, I should say that it's the 28th century since the founding of Rome, since I wouldn't want to use your silly calendar that counts time from the birth of some random hobo Jew. Also, Yahweh was just some random god of storms that became the national god of Israel, but was worshiped alongside many other gods in the Hebrew pantheon, and Yahweh only became the only god of the Hebrews when the Jews removed all of the other gods from their pantheon, due to the rise of Jewish nationalism and the Jews wanting to destroy their similarities with the Babylonians, which was in turn due to the Babylonian Captivity. So the only reason that the Abrahamic religions, which are the most popular religions in the world, are monotheistic and not polytheistic, is the arbitrary actions of King Nebuchadnezzar II. So you're living an arbitrary lie.

If you're dreaming though, your respiratory system is at function while your body is in a paralysis, so in your dream you will be able to breathe through your nose while closing your nose. ITS OFFICIAL - ATHEISM IS A FAITH BASED RELIGION !
    ATHEISM IS A RELIGION according to a 2005 Wisconsin Federal Court ruling on the matter of Kaufman v. McCaughtry, as well as the Torcaso v. Watkins case that was affirmed by the 1961 U.S. Supreme Court--the highest court in the land--where court rulings become national law.
    The Supreme Court has said , "A RELIGION NEED NOT BE BASED ON THE BELIEF IN A SUPREME BEING." The court described “SECULAR HUMANISM AS A RELIGION.".
    Meanwhile, a London based ATHEIST church (yes, you heard me right, ATHEIST CHURCH ), known as the Sunday Assembly, has announced it will open Sunday atheist missionary churches in 22 cities across Britain, United States and Australia.
    The London based Sunday service meets with its followers on a Sunday morning (just like a real church), which included a sermon (that's propaganda to you and me), singing and free tea and coffee at the end so all the atheists can discuss their faith amongst fellow believers.
    Well, now you know - atheism has its own church - its own religious creed (evolution), its own Pope (Darwin) and now its been officially recognized by the Supreme Court of the United States as a religion proving that it IS possible not to believe in God and still be recognized by the highest court in the land that Atheism is a FAITH BASED RELIGION !

      The scientific view, the view that provides actual evidence, is that there's no reason to believe that "someone" created the universe.
      If Turek wants to advance the theistic view a millimeter, he needs to address the scientific evidence, not the opinions of atheists.
      Turek's ignorance begins with the dichotomy he presents in the first seconds of this video. The rest is a very long and impetuous corollary.

    For anyone wondering where the "quantum vacuum," meaning the quantum fluctuations in the vacuum, come form, they are a result of the Heisenberg uncertainty principle. This is a very well-known fact in physics. He could have just looked this up.
    Also, by "because there is a force like gravity, the universe can come from nothing," Professor Hawking was saying that because gravitational fields *naturally* have a negative energy, unlike negative energy fields that arise in positive-negative energy pairs in the vacuum solely because of the uncertainty principle, they can arise along with positive energy fields in the positive-negative energy pairs that arise from quantum fluctuations in the vacuum (depending on which theory of quantum gravity is true) and actually stay there, rather than being there for a limited time determined by the uncertainty principle, and this could've been what happened at the Big Bang. So what Hawking was saying made perfect sense and was perfectly coherent, but Turek took the statement out of context and acted like what Hawking said was insane, which makes me think that Turek is intentionally lying to get people to believe what he's saying, rather than just being deluded. So for anyone that believes what Turek is saying, and believes that a god must exist, then why would Turek have to intentionally lie like this to get people to believe in a god?

    Michael, why do you insist that hell is a torture chamber? It's rather a classic and inaccurate view. Hell is just separate from God, much like sin is the absence of God. If you or anyone else, God forbid, ends up in isolated hell, it will be because you chose to separate yourself, not because you're imperfect. Remember, Jesus is the reconciliation, median, and propitiation for your imperfections in comparison to God's perfect standards. All you really need to do is accept that. Simple as that.

      "Hell is just separate from God, much like sin is the absence of God." - So, your god notion does not include omnipresence?
      "God's perfect standards" - What perfect standard are you claiming? Passages such as Deuteronomy 20:10-14: Conquest, Mass Murder, Slavery, & Rape seem to make such statements absurd...

    • @castrokobe24
      @castrokobe24 10 років тому

      Buddy, Omnipresence just says you have the power to be present, which entails the power to become absent. God would not be present in hell because he is the sum of all good.

    • @MyContext
      @MyContext 10 років тому

      Alfredo Castro 1) So, your notion of omnipresence as claimed in your god notion is a power that can be activated and deactivated as opposed to a supposed state of being?
      2) You don't see a contradiction between the idea of all good and the idea of supposed creator of hell? Which is better to you eternal torture or non-existence?
      I am left to wonder amount what people call good given the horrors that some consider to be good at least from my notions.

      ***** lol, I never mentioned God didn't create hell. Listen buddy, your attempts to disprove or discredit God by sheerly anthropomorphizing Him are clearly outdated and it is a very poor excuse not to believe. Who said He wants to do anything about it? Are you implying there should be no justice, and people should do whatever seems fit to them by their own disgraceful standards? You make your own choice to enter a realm of complete isolation from the presence of God. It's not the professor's fault that the student failed his class, but it is the student's lack of self-discipline, integrity, and motivation. Don't blame the professor, you make your own choices. Take some responsibility for once.

    • @MyContext
      @MyContext 10 років тому

      Alfredo Castro "You make your own choice to enter a realm of complete isolation from the presence of God." - No evidence for the claim of a God existing, which makes claims such as yours worthless.
      You are of course free to make up all sorts of notions, but in the absence of evidence (demonstrable cause/effect linkage) for existence, your claims are on par with claiming any number of fictions as truth.
      There is no discrediting a concept which has NEVER been shown to be, since, given the absence of evidence all claims of god (deity) are arguments from ignorance.

    As a Christian i would point out that Hawking says It Appears to be fine tuned, meaning he believes it’s only fine tuned in appearance not that it actually is. However the mathematical odds of the seemingly fine tuned universe happening out of Randomness and not an Advanced Mind similar to that of Man’s, are so astronomically enormous that it would’ve took a Miracle for them to happen. which would then prove the existence of Miracles which are defined as “a highly improbable or extraordinary event, development, or accomplishment that brings very welcome consequences.” Hawking then contradicts himself.

    I think you worded it fine. Some times I think of God in a deistic way. Maybe he's just cruising by making planets. There are so many. I really want to believe but I feel foolish when I say it out loud and my questions never get answered. I'm glad you're not just reading scripture to me. I find it annoying when people do that, so thank you.
