I think I know why the RC truck with dynamite trick kept working. In the first movie, every time a clever trick or strategy was employed all of the Graboids were in the vicinity. Because of this when one died the others were able to observe what happened and learn from it very quickly. In this movie however each Graboid that gets blown up is alone, no other creatures around observe and learn so the same trick continued to work. Of course this discounts the fact that the writers may have just been plain lazy.
+Alexander Frost he's done biology videos for the alien and predator species and has said there are alot of requests for one to be done about the graboids and while probably do one in the future plus they're pretty interesting you should check them out
+Alexander Frost That and given how every small moving target they'd encountered prior to the movie was a prey animal, well, it's not surprising that they could exploit the graboids' hunting instincts like that.
I watched all the these movies as a kid with my younger brother. To this day if you yell, "it's gonna be BIG!" I'll instantly know where it's from. One of my favorite monster designs and life cycles.
I love how when the place blows up the building that they originally were hiding behind is absolutely demolished by the blast as Burt stated it's a good amount of consistency that most movies ignore
+ArmaBiologica35 Yeah... kind of a problem there. Also, would have been awesome to see graboids in a jungle setting. Of course, it also probably would have meant the shriekers would have multiplied to infinity before anyone could come up with a big enough bomb, so...
+Decker Shado I have a theory as to why the graboids weren't learning from mistake, it because they have no way of telling a different between the arc explosives and actual prey, hence why the kept going for them
+thexenochannel - You know... funny enough, I actually personally disagree. At least AVP:R did some cool new things in regards to the mythos. The predator in the movie, namely Wolf, is my favorite predator actually. Though, I still think AVP:R is an awful piece of shit... but, I personally think it has more redeemable qualities than the Tremors sequels. Because meanwhile, the Tremors sequels ruins and rapes almost every single thing that made me love the first movie.
+kurvos I will agree that Wolf is one of the best Preds and in truth, I would've killed to see him in another Pred movie. I think AVP:R had some of the same issues I found with the "It's Alive" remake. Some cool ideas were there but they "dropped the ball". The potential was there but the execution was botched.
I love your reviews man. On a personal note I really appreciate that you are a gun enthusiast, or at least knowledgable about how guns and gun laws actually work.
21:13 and the filmakers understood that the biggest danger of an explosion is the shock wave, treating them like proper explosives unlike michael bay who treats them as small fire crackers
I mean Burt's first kill you can see dust fly from the back corner of his truck showing that the shockwave of his 4 pounds of C4 went off hit his location but he probably made bigger explosions than we think he makes
Why would Ortega know what they're called from a video game, even a successful one? Does he strike you as a gamer? Even now my Mum wouldn't know who Sonic was, and games are WAY bigger now than they were when this was made.
I believe his point is that these are an entirely new species that became so popular that they spawned a game based off them. Ortega shouldn't know the name based off the game, he should know it because they're common knowledge enough to inspire a popular game.
@@SatanicBarbeque I mean the way he talked made me think he just didn't want to freak earl out by saying the name and lose his chance at having him hunt them down because he said "certain underground creatures" in a very slow way which makes me think he knows their name but was most likely hoping to draw him in without saying the name and thus scaring him away
I recall a line quote from Bruce Campbell regarding "certain" sci-fi channel movies: "Do you prefer cancer over AIDS?" I think of that quote when I think of Tremors 2 and all the sequels .
"Yeah I was having a real hard time, then I looked down at my wristband and thought... what would Michael Bay do?" I think he would be proud of Burt as I am proud of how funny that line was.
@@TimeTravelinc Not unless he time-travelled. The mousers were introduced in the 1980s TMNT cartoon. Possibly, the Shreikers were somewhat modeled after them, or it could just be that there are only so many ways to design a concept before some unintended repetition occurs.
Despite what people say, this was one of my favorite b-movies to watch with my family. The scene when they found Pedro's dismembered hands played nicely with the music, and it genuinely creeped the fuck out of my brother.
I actually got into the Franchise from this film, I found it ironic to me at least and dubbed it my favourite. I love the way the creature changes things up drastically, it's like your equipped to take out a tank only to find out you going to be taking on a horde. Fear can happen when you think you have everything prepared and then suddenly, things change without your say what so ever. Plus, the Shirek will always be remembered my mind.
Now this is what i call a review. Keep doing these. They are excellent. Love the way you basically show us the films main points so we can decide for ourselves if we want to watch.
I know you posted this a long time ago, but I only found your channel maybe 4 months ago, I loved Tremors ever since the first movie was released on VHS (I'm old,) and you do GREAT FREAKIN' reviews! (and you truly do have the best hair!) Thanks for keeping me entertained!
I've been a fan of tremors since the first came out and to this day I can't stand any of the sequels. The second is possibly the only one even remotely worth sitting through. But my god man, once we get Jamie Kennedy in these things...it starts to become very apparent that it should've been a standalone film and left alone...
I'm really satisfied that the big explosion at the end looked like a proper high explosive explosion instead of a standard Hollywood gasoline fireball.
When I first saw the movie I thought the Shreakers were entirely new species that hatched from a bunch of Graboid eggs. Of course later entries (TV and movies) made them a lifecycle stage.
“Burt, are you sure you’re out of bullets? Did you check all your pockets?” I laugh every time I hear that line. I do actually enjoy #2 but more because I found it humorous lol
I think the reason the graboids aren’t attracted to the changing graboid is they recognize the noise as a graboid like the graboid would always be hunting each other if they didn’t recognize graboid noises
I love the original. I adore the sequel. I enjoyed the third movie. And I love the prequel. I never cared all that much for the later movies with the outlandish cgi, and sure the first four movies used more cgi as they went, but i love how they managed to more or less mesh practical and computer effects.
I think why the Graboids fall for the TNT Cars every time was unlike the first film, they weren't close by to notice. Remember film 1 there was only 2 when they tried this, both of whom were surrounding them. Plus you gotta expect 1 out of so many to be smarter, but yeah since they are very spread out they have no idea the TNT is killing their friends, at least right away. EDIT:OR you could say since their so close to "birthing" they need to eat overwrote their "must kill but be smart about it".
The practical effects in this movie are awesome, but the CGI hasn't held up all that well (then again, it had 40% of the budget of the first movie so I cut it some slack). From what I understand the reduced budget and loss of Kevin Bacon and Reba damaged the potential of the movie.
Did anyone notice that when they drive to mexico in one of the shots you can see the rear shock absorber hanging from the truck! Nice small reference to the first movie, since Earl did not even fix it for all these years since the graboid attacked it!
Personally, I like how Stampede wanted to throw fans a bit of a curve-ball with each sequel, rather than just have more repetition of the same exact monster killing the same exact way. One explanation as to why the Graboids in Mexico act differently is possibly due to them being a different genetic offshoot, as we see in the later sequels that there is some variation in traits. It could be that this population of them weren't quite as bright as the ones we saw in the fist movie. Maybe this strain is the "inbred hick" strain? Also, Burt's .50 cal BMG round was "custom cast from solid bronze", as Burt had either engineered it or had it engineered to shoot a graboid though dirt.
The first one is great because the monsters are not explained, keeping them in mystery, like the first Alien. Once you give it too much exposure....well, this movie happens.
I know I'm way late, but I disagree. I feel like leaving too much unexplained detracts from the movie. Anybody can have some unexplained monster lurking around killing people. That's not very exciting, though. Even if it's something as unique as the graboids, you can only rely on mystery for so long. In fact, something as unusual as the graboids kind of NEEDS to be explained to some extant. If the monster were just some random serial killer or a more mundane thing like a demon or a giant lizard, we could fill in the blanks ourselves. We, the audience, have seen enough horror movies to know what these things are and where they likely come from. But a screaming worm with eels for tongues that's the size of a bus? Holy shit, that's weird and new. I want to know more about it!
Well stated! The fact that the Graboids were treated like real world animals (a vet checks up on El Blanco in the TV series) was something I always liked about Tremors that made it unique from other monster movie franchises.
Decker I don't review movies but instead of just assuming what they had on the truck you should also consider the fact that they didn't think the chain would be snagged and killing worms was a priority, so armor penetrating rounds, bolt cutters, and higher caliber rifles weren't high on their list and regular rounds would do the trick if they got too close. and what the hell do you think Grady was trying to shoot on a very bumpy reverse truck ride through the country with dust being kicked up by the chain ripping through the ground like a hot knife through fucking butter.
Ok so regarding your frustration about the Graboids being killed by remotely detonated RC cars, its because the Graboids are spread thin across the land and so they wouldn't relay that the cars are booby trapped and because they wouldn't have time to spit out said booby trapped toy cars because of the detonators
I think I know what happened to the guy with the truck that got his hands ripped off and eaten. One jumped on the hood first and started to rip it to pieces, he swives the truck and jumps out trying to get away but gets cut off by the second one jumps up on the back trying to get away, again get cut off by the third and tries to pull himself up onto the roof of the car in a last-ditch effort but gets caught by his leg(s?) and ripped away without his hands killing/eating him.
In fairness to the graboids not learning from the guys blowing them up, in the first movie the creatures learned and planned by witnessing the human's efforts. If the guys took them out one at a time without any others nearby it kind of explains why they failed to get wise.
11:15 you normally could just send it USPS, as long as it's in the same state the post office is willing and legally able to ship long guns between unlicensed citizens and since this is their way of asking for a divorce, they could ship to another state due to them being married and already owning the firearm (through join ownership) the only issue would be if it's automatic, since they are collectors its more than possible that they have a fully automatic version which while still being able to ship USPS get a lot trickier due to the machine gun registry
The reason that the graboids in the first one learned not to eat the explosives and the one's in the second didn't took me some time to figure out. In the fist movie they were all in relatively close proximity to each other and cold observe and learn from each others mistakes. In the second one they were more spread out and didn't have that advantage. at least that's my take on it.
19:47 that only works if the creatures have been documented in the fossil records and since it's established that these creatures predated the known records and up until recently haven't been seen because they can lay dormant in an egg for indefinitely as the third movie established that the graboids in that case were dormant for over 300 years so it's unknown how long they can lay dormant but my guess is there is no real limit to that
I enjoyed the first 2 movies a lot. It was 3 and onwards that the series started going downhill in writing and presentation. The CGI in part 3 especially didn't age well in my opinion.
Damn son where'd you find this. Agreed with most of it, I really enjoyed the 2nd one, the third was meh, but a few good moments! 4th was silly but a fun concept XD but the 5th......ewwwwwww Semi cool moments, but too many cringy moments, especially the horrid scene with badass Burt being caged and pissed on. Just stupid. Atleast these movies were semi serious XD
I really like the intro of the toy car it uses perspective and sound distortion to make you think they are using a massive suped up jacked up truck then you see the dynamite just slightly before the camera pans out to a toy car strapped with explosives it's a amazing use of a fake out you think they got some heavy artillery to destroy the worms then you find out it's just a toy car with some dynamite strapped to it plus the reason for no other graboids attacking earl and Grady is because the other 7 were changing hence the reason why Burt's truck looks like crap
that wasn't a joke name in the 1st movie, that is what they called them in the 1st movie, they chose that name to honour that guy i forget the name of after he got killed by one.
The first one was a favorite when i was a kid, the second was ok. I might've seen the third but don't really remember & don't care to watch any of the others.
I have a theory why the control car kept working maybe they were targeting gravoids who are alone that means none of the others could learn from it if they're not there
This is my favorite Tremors film, never cared to see the rest apart from one. I just noticed all deaths are Mexican. Idk if I would've gotten offended since I'm of Mexican descent, but this movie was just super fun. Mariachi song was cool.
I wonder how the first Graboids and Shriekers (and the Assblasters) survived... during the pre-Cambrian era... and the Cambrian, Ordovician, Silurian and Devonian eras. As they are carnivoruos land animals, they survived about 200 million years before they had some insects to eat and another 50 million years before the first amfibious vertebrates come out of the seas. 250 million years without food!
I really enjoy this and the first Tremors movies. Part of my childhood for sure. Tried watching the third one years ago and couldn't make it through it.

Tremors 12 Script Review:
[CUT TO]
Burt Gummer in Hospital bed. Wide far angle.
[CLOSE IN]
Burt starts trembling.
Emits groan and "Eeeeaaahhhh"
[BACK OUT]
Thanks Bert, now all the ads I see while watching these are about parts for the HK91 and G3 rifles.
19:47 that only works if the creatures have been documented in the fossil records and since it's established that these creatures predated the known records and up until recently haven't been seen because they can lay dormant in an egg for indefinitely as the third movie established that the graboids in that case were dormant for over 300 years so it's unknown how long they can lay dormant but my guess is there is no real limit to that
The oil worker also plays carter (the guy who gets stepped on) in The Lost World Jurassic Park
Omg I was wondering who else actually knew who he was. I almost thought I was the only one lol 😂
*Sarcasm
So nice to see you active
but they named the graboids in the first movie (the chinees guy said that he liked the name graboid)
I enjoyed the first 2 movies a lot. It was 3 and onwards that the series started going downhill in writing and presentation. The CGI in part 3 especially didn't age well in my opinion.
Tremors: Great
Tremors 2: alright
Tremors 3: meh... not that great but not too bad.
Tremors 4: alright
Tremors 5: gtfo of here with that.
Damn son where'd you find this. Agreed with most of it, I really enjoyed the 2nd one, the third was meh, but a few good moments! 4th was silly but a fun concept XD but the 5th......ewwwwwww
Semi cool moments, but too many cringy moments, especially the horrid scene with badass Burt being caged and pissed on. Just stupid. Atleast these movies were semi serious XD
Tremors 6: Where tf was all the snow?! I was promised snow!!
12:05
More "Jaws hitting Quint's boat: Land version".
3:18 Decker has no chill
10:32 why do I find that so wholesome?
that wasn't a joke name in the 1st movie, that is what they called them in the 1st movie, they chose that name to honour that guy i forget the name of after he got killed by one.
The store guy
The first one was a favorite when i was a kid, the second was ok. I might've seen the third but don't really remember & don't care to watch any of the others.
It was a very good sequel but do you know what'll make it better
KEVIN BACON
I have a theory why the control car kept working maybe they were targeting gravoids who are alone that means none of the others could learn from it if they're not there
This is my favorite Tremors film, never cared to see the rest apart from one. I just noticed all deaths are Mexican. Idk if I would've gotten offended since I'm of Mexican descent, but this movie was just super fun. Mariachi song was cool.
Grabboids were in the mood for something spicy.
I am so sorry.
A hundred grand may be chump change. I can still think of a lot of things I can do with that much money.
RIP fred ward
I wonder how the first Graboids and Shriekers (and the Assblasters) survived... during the pre-Cambrian era... and the Cambrian, Ordovician, Silurian and Devonian eras.
As they are carnivoruos land animals, they survived about 200 million years before they had some insects to eat and another 50 million years before the first amfibious vertebrates come out of the seas.
250 million years without food!
2:11 I had no idea. Thanks for the info, Decker.
Little known fact; in Spanish, "ol`e" means "taco".
In the German dub the name Graboids (well, Graboiden, but close enough) is actually pretty fitting since "graben" in German can mean "to burrow".
maybe they don't have bolt cutters
I really enjoy this and the first Tremors movies. Part of my childhood for sure. Tried watching the third one years ago and couldn't make it through it.
Best reviews with the best hair.
11:34 The same fricking one? Well. What the heck reason did they have to call Bert up then?
I’m dead with the 4k thing 😂🖤😂
