Thank you for making this video. I was influenced by Adventism but stopped after learning how shady their history is. So many Adventists repeat the same talking points answered here and do not know that their leaders contradicted their doctrines. The sad part is that most will not come across this information, preferring to stay in their echo chambers, not knowing that knowledge is deliberately being hidden from them. But I take comfort in knowing that God is in control, and will guide his elect.

I can't help but notice how dispensational premillenialism/Christian Zionism is inherently charismatic and gnostic and how it's led to false churches such as Seventh Day Adventism and Jehovah's Witnesses. It's rather odd because many popular disp premills, most notably MacArthur, are very cessationist as well. On further looking, it appears the Mormons are essentially pre-mill as well...

I like SDA's in general and one man has an incredible testimony about how GOD saved him, his family and his marriage. Eric Wilson is his name and he's done some really great videos exposing martial arts and other practices. For a while I'd watch his sermons but time and time again, I was put off at how much he mentioned Ellen White in his messages. He would read her hot takes on issues RIGHT along side scripture and it essentially resulted in me no longer listening to him.
Honestly, I can't understand how someone can have a testimony about the LORD and still adhere to SDA teachings.

I'm an Adventist pastor and I affirm your reaction described in this comment. The people who feel the need to preach Ellen White in place of Scripture are very frustrating to us. It is our fault for obscuring the difference for many years, mainly because we were unlearned. Ellen White historically fulfilled a biblical prophetic function to challenge the church. She did not lead the church and absolutely denied having a role of adding to Scripture. I hope that clears it up a little. I am so sorry for your experience. It is still far too common.
(I'm probably going to get push back on this, I'll try to clarify where I need to)

Great presentation. I think SDAs are slowly moving toward orthodoxy. A friend of mine basically admitted to holding to at least 4 of the 5 Solae, with "Sola Scriptura" only being admitted if it allows for subordinate prophecies. A lot of the legalism (vegetarianism, no pork or shellfish, etc.) seem to have become strong suggestions rather than strict requirements. And they are Trinitarian.
Dr. Martin was willing to admit that they no longer classify as a "Christian cult" in subsequent revisions of his "Kingdom of the Cults". But they still hold to "investigative judgment", "soul sleep", and obviously the Saturday Sabbath. They still revere Ellen White as a prophetess, although they seem to focus more on the Bible than her prophecies now as compared to the past. These are still serious errors in their theology, but I'm not sure whether they are serious enough on their own to exclude them from Christianity.
I don't know what to make of their church, to be honest. Maybe some of the older members are more legalistic than young members, or maybe they have a different display of what they believe to outsiders vs insiders.

The sabbath commandment is not ceremonial, but the invitation to join the rest in the completion of creation, which was, is and is to come, when Christ returns.

Jesus met with them that day, and exactly one day later - also a first day. The example of the Apostles is binding. Let me be VERY CLEAR. My two closest friends are SDA. But they and you are not correct about this. I did not IMPLY anything. I will state clearly that some of God's Laws do and have changed. Theologians call these positive laws. Adan and Eve's children must have married each other in the 1st generation. Abram and Sarai were half-siblings. But with Moses, it is incest to marry anyone closer than a first cousin. Every SDA that I know believes that bloody animal sacrifices, Aaronic priests, and Temple worship have ceased because they were ceremonial laws. God does not change, but His revelation is progressive. And He has every right to change outward regulations. Question: if God's Law never changes at all, why did Ellen Harmon White condemn eating meat? Jesus ate lamb and fish. I serve the God of the Bible. The "mark" that is on me is Trinitarian Baptism. I will probably listen to an entire hour of it because you have started off by acknowledging the abysmal quality of the criticism that is usually directed at us, so I know you won't waste my time with that. At 1:30 you bring up covenants. Of course, this is the standard Calvinist approach. It is your answer to many things. We also love talking about covenant, but we believe nobody was ever saved except through the covenant in Jesus' blood. Therefore the old covenant was not salvific but a national covenant and the new covenant is the eternal Way of salvation always intended for all nations. I hope you agree with that or this will be hard for me to watch.

I'll comment on where I'm up to: Doug Batchelor is a professional communicator and businessman. He is not atypical of Adventists, we like him a lot in general, but he is not actually a theologian or some kind of church leader that you could point to as authoritative. This would be like me tearing apart Mark Driscoll and claiming I've disproved Calvinism. The reality is that we Adventists think for ourselves, to a fault, we don't pay much attention to our theologians or our church leaders, we pay attention to our Jesus.

I don't agree with most of the SDA doctrines, especially Sabbath keeping, but they do have ONE thing correct that the rest of mainstream Christianity has wrong. They believe that ONLY believers in Jesus will receive immortality at their resurrections and get eternal LIFE. I agree with them! Many christian churches today believe and teach that unbelievers will also get eternal LIFE..... in Hell. This couldn't be farther from the truth. Immortality, the ability to LIVE forever is a free gift that Jesus gives anyone who will put their faith in him and seek after it (Romans 2:7). Unbelievers do not seek after God and immortality and thus when they are resurrected unto judgment they will still be MORTAL beings, just like they were before they died. When they are cast into the fires of Hell, they will be destroyed, die and perish forever, just as Jesus said they would. (The wages for man's sin is DEATH) No one LIVES in Hell for all eternity. They die forever! 1John 5:12 "He who has the Son has life; he who does NOT have the Son DOES NOT HAVE LIFE." Sorry Christians, NO LIFE in Hell.

Essentially what he said is that Calvinists and Reformed Christians evangelize because they are commanded to do so and that God will use evangelism as a secondary means of grace to then save people himself. Although in the end, his saving grace is irresistible and He can save people in any way he chooses.
