Wildwood Guitars has had a long, illustrious relationship with both Paul Reed Smith and Dave Grissom, both of whom have been heroes to the Wildwood Staff for a long time. When Paul Reed Smith offered Wildwood Guitars the chance to raid his sacred Wood Library, we knew we had an opportunity to do something special. The Wildwood Staff has always been captivated by the incredible craftsmanship, gorgeous finishes and unparalleled consistency of Paul's works of art, and the opportunity to hand-select our tone woods to create a batch of visually stunning, tonally breathtaking instruments was just too exciting to pass up. It seemed like the perfect time to simultaneously pay tribute to both one of our favorite artists, and one of our favorite models in the PRS lineup: The DGT.
We flew out to Stevensville, Maryland, where we spent hours picking out incredible tone woods find for our very own Wood Library run. Every detail mattered, from the density of the necks to the specific weight of the mahogany backs. Paul was kind enough to allow us to choose every piece of each instrument, and we kept tone at the forefront of our mind as we agonized over which pieces of wood would sound best.
With the already-outstanding DGT as our platform, we elaborated on the wonderful groundwork laid by Paul Reed Smith and Dave Grissom. We took extreme care in selecting the finest quilted maple tops and Brazilian rosewood fretboards, and the result is a visually stunning aesthetic that compliments the incredible tone of the DGT pickup set and the choice mahogany and maple body. If you've ever chatted with us about Paul's phenomenal instruments, you know how much we love Dave Grissom and his outstanding signature model. Now, we invite you to experience the DGT's comfortable neck profile, top-of-the-line electronics package, chameleon-like sonic versatility, and drool-worthy cosmetic appointments with a little bit of Wildwood magic sprinkled in. We are honored to present our take on a modern classic: The Wildwood Guitars Wood Library DGT Artist Quilt.
No one is ever really done buying guitars (and any guitar player who says otherwise is lying), but playing this PRS might make even the most adventurous collector contemplate settling down with one axe. This thing can do it all and look good doing it! The neck pickup is deep, luscious, and detailed, with low-end response that would make most bassists jealous. The bridge pickup sounds like a ‘roided-up Tele! It skronks when you pick hard and chimes when you lay off, but it’s still fat enough to cover just about any classic rock and roll tone when you add some crunch. Warning: picking up this guitar may make you a six-string monogamist!

Anyone know what these frets compare to in an easy to find guitar center type guitar? I like the idea of these except for the maybe too tall frets and would love to try something similar if possible before buying one!

Greg Koch is the finest demonstrator of guitars in the world. It does make me sad that he’s not as silly as he used to be. With his dramatic fitness alteration it’s almost like it’s a different person. Also, nice guitar.

Richard Pounds does it hurt to be stupid? Coil splitting is different than tapping. Very different than saying same word with a different accent.

does it hurt to be stupid? I don't know, maybe you can tell us. PRS use taps, it's common knowledge. They used to use splits but for nearly 10 years they've used taps where some winds on the 'dead' coil are left connected, to keep the output up. You can verify by tapping on the pole pieces, you will hear both coils still work and there is little hum. They use a resistor to do this. 5 second google and you can see for yourself.

Richard Pounds I wasn't aware they took Gibson's flawed headstock break angle and alignment of the tuning pegs. These guitars are visually more pleasing, but they do lack the sound. You got to call it fair, otherwise people will sniff out your 100% biased bullshit.
