    Basically Core is the 'Core' models made to a certain specification.
    Wood Library allows dealers to order a 'run' of Core instruments with some different 'wood' choices - want a Custom 24 with a Maple neck instead of Mahogany, wood Library.
    Private stock has more options and can be a unique spec - the 'only' guitar like it in the world.
    Other than that, there isn't a vast difference. You are paying more really to 'deviate' from core specs and a more 'unique' flavour - you are paying for more 'exclusivity' as there are a LOT fewer versions in that 'spec'. Quality wise, there is really no difference - you don't get the fancy 'colours' (like their Glow burst finishes), but they have pretty much the 'same' hardware, the woods are all 'treated' and 'cured' the same - just maybe not as 'aesthetically' pleasing...

    Thx for a great video. I own a custom 24 ten top, and a Koa custom 24 Private Reserve. Big bucks for both guitars, especially the Koa, Private Reserve. The bottom line is with PRS, all their instruments are awesome. Moneywise, you get what you pay for.

    Certainly appreciate the clips and the wonderful playing. It seems to me that the major difference in the three were the neck woods. The Core model had mahogany. The wood library had maple. The private stock was Brazilian neck and fretboard. Those are some mighty big leaps between the instruments, all other things considered.

    Maybe this might help someone decide. I have two wood libraries and 2 cores.
    Special 22 Simi Hollow Wood Library with roasted flamed neck, ebony board and amazing top. Mine like the one shown here are 58/15 MT's not LT's. The neck pickup in regular position (not flipped) are now the LT's. I love the feel of the neck. Only imperfection I could find was inside the sound hole the wood braces had rough finishes. Wood slivers hanging down. I was able to fix it myself. Out of the 4 this is my 3rd favorite. I thought it would be #1. For Looks, weight, and feel of the neck it is #1.
    594 Wood Library with a rosewood neck ebony board and another amazing top. Again the neck feels great. The only imperfection was the nut was narrower than the board and neck..Very odd. My favorite pickups to start but now seems a little dull. PRS team is working on it and putting in TCI's. This was my favorite for a year but now I think it's in the 4th position. For looks it's #2 and feel of the rosewood neck. All the PRS Guitars I have came with the perfect set up for me.
    Core custom 24-08. At first I was not sure about the pickups 58/08s. After 2 years I now know this is the last one I would ever sell. The top is great, not as fancy but it feels and sounds the best. I usually prefer raw necks but the gloss neck is no problem. Also I usually like low wind pickups but again it sounds great. This one is my favorite PRS.
    Last is a core 24 Floyd. The Metal pickups can do anything. Rolled back it sounds so nice for just a bit of break up. Again I thought the Wood Libraries would beat this one, but this one would be my second keeper. Also for the times I need a Floyd this might be my number 1 Floyd guitar.
    The special woods on wood libraries don't always translate to better sounding guitars. I do love the feel of the necks on the ones I have. So many videos make it to seem like the higher up you go is always better. The better woods make it sound vintage is not true for what I've played. This seems like a bit of snake oil salesman pitch. My experience of living with 4 models over 5 years tells me different.
    With all that being said I still would love to try out a Private Stock but I would need to play several to decide if I would pull the trigger. I like to keep a guitar 1-2 years before deciding how I feel. I've only sold 3 guitar out of 45 ever. At some point I will have to get down to 20 or so guitars.
    PRS Guitars are great.
    I sent my 594 back to PRS for a re set and they are going to put in TCI 58/15 LT's (tuned for more clarity) vs the Standard 58/15LTs and look at the nut. They are the best for working on your PRS Guitars. I trust PRS so I know when it comes back it will be the best version of the guitar it can be for what I wanted.

    • @marc8vino
      @marc8vino 2 роки тому

      Just received the 594 back from PRS. They put a a better fitting nut, replaced the bridge volume pot and put in TCI 58/15 LT pickups with more clarity. I asked for TCI 58/15 LT pickups with more clarity. They did not disappoint. Now that I know fore sure the volume pot went bad maybe that's why I started to not be crazy about the original 58/15 LT bridge pick up. This guitar is better than ever...it's in the running again my favorite PRS. It's love that PRS has the option to send back a guitar to get a fresh reset and inspection. Just a little thing like the nut not perfect always bugged me but now that is not an issue. PRS makes some great guitars and the factory set ups are just right for my liking.

    • @marc8vino
      @marc8vino 2 роки тому +2

      I just found out they never replaced the original pickup. As I wrote above I was wondering if the original would still sound good if the volume pot was replaced. Sure enough that's what happened. The volume pot slowly went bad and I strayed further away because it was not sounding good. It seemed to not have the volume to match the neck. I should have known better and figured that out. Anyway just thought I should share this info.

    I have two PRSs. My first was a 2012 CU24 Experience. It is an amalgam of different parts. 7.8 lbs of awesomeness! It has a Private Stock flamed maple neck with MOP eagle headstock inlay. Mexican ebony board with Macassar ebony headstock veneer. Gorgeous Artist bird inlays. It's in the Autumn Sky finish with gold hardware. Plays/sounds every bit as good as it looks.
    My second one I got a few years later. It is a Wood Library DGT in faded Whale Blue on a killer flame maple top. Mahogony body....of course....It has a Korina neck with Cocobolo fretboard. Has Ivoroid tuners and it just looks stunning. The neck carve is Grissom's, so totally different than my CU24. Both of these will go to my kids. Somepoeple invest in cars, stocks etc. I like guitars!

    The Holy Grail is to find Private Stock details on Core Model and Wood Library models. The key design details are the small abalone Eagle on the headstock and abalone Bird Neck Inlays, gold locking tuners, a roasted satin Flame Maple neck , plus the Artist Package Quilted Maple Tops in a custom color/finish. The best example is the 35th Anniversary Custom 24 Core models from 2020-21. They include the Eagle on the headstock and abalone Bird Neck Inlays, with Paul's Guitar switching circuit, like a CU24-08. Getting the Artist Package Quilted 1-Piece or 2-Piece Maple Top is the Unicorn. This Artist Package Quilted Maple Top is way beyond a typical Flame Maple Ten Top.
