Attach this monstrosity to a hades breaching drill to deepstrike it and get some melta damage
Absolutely. Name another Astra Militarum unit this good at offensive melee that can go through walls. Bullgryns are the anvil and DreadNork is the hammer.
Vindication
This combo has been beating me up for this entire edition. Can confirm this kills things.
I call mine Nork Vader. He's the real warlord of my scion army.
As a Harker, I'd love an updated Catachan army with Sergeant Harker
I have this in one of my 'theory crafting' lists but I plan on dropping one of the chainswords for the heavy flamer in the command squad.
What utility do you keep the heavy flamer for? Just curious
@@blebblebberson9327 I just feel that you will get more value out of it over 3 chainsword attacks, seeing as you will likely have 'Fix bayonets' rather than 'Take aim' its also nice to have some more auto hits and good for overwatch in a pinch. You're effectively only losing 2 melee attacks anyway.
Remember RaW when all the regular catachans die and the command squad ends up on its own THEN the whole unit uses the T6. so the other 5 command squad dudes can get the beefy toughness too just after the units already shattered
@@chae7684 just hope the attacking unit didn't cause to many wounds past the bodyguards, the toughness of Born doesn't count until the units are separated between attacks.
@@karlnygren you could choose to allocate them to the officer though since all "bodyguard" models are dead to soak up that juicy 4+ FnP. Or straken for that matter as he has a better save and would benefit from the FnP too until they separated. If you're feeling lucky that is or it's something that won't nuke them from existence if you fail
@@chae7684 good point. And if you put them on Straken he gets the fnp until the attack ends. So he could survive it. Edit: which I on second reading of your comment notice that you had thought of, nice 😁
It’s going in all of my lists. For the pure fun factor alone.
Look like a fun thing to put in a crassus 😊
What about the crassus? This squad needs protection. You can plop this unit in a crassus with a 10 man tempestus squad + tempestus command squad + eversor assassin, which uses up its 35 man capacity exactly.
Regimental advisors can be added as well… kinda expensive but it adds 3 more bodies
Smash the like button for the Emperor
I smash the like button for General Mordian; I leave a comment for the Emperor O7 😂
I combine the DKoK with the PCC, Nork and a Preacher giving Nork that Sustained hits.
Pricey? That's a steal for the pts cost! Glares accusingly at the recent Ork update, 240 pts for 6 MegaNobz, with 12 total melee attacks (klaw).
I usually run this with the regular ogryn bodyguard and it works great. No mortals but it's still consistent.
I've been wanting to go with a scion command squad with Nork and attaches and storm up the table. Attack something, look at stuff for artillery and aircraft (who uses that though) and then use reinforcements to bring back later and do it again.
No deepstrike unfortunately but lots of wounds with toughness 6 and 4+ (or 5+ for attaches) save.
Doesn’t the “loyal protector” let him deep strike since he isn’t “attached” to the Scion command squad but rather “joins” it and counts as part of that squad for the remainder of the game? Like a 6th member to the squad is how I interpret that rule.
@@jacksonwoodward8723 he joins it before the battle starts and he lacks the needed ability (deep strike), so shouldn't work. But I do agree that a lot of abilities spill over to the rest of the units models, but not this I bet.
All this needs is a stormlord to drive them around…
seems really dependent on getting that one big charge and as mentioned thats a heck of a lot of points...going with 1 squad of catachans and the regular ogryn body guard would make it more in line with a krieger/marshal blob at 190 points at least and you'd still have 17 models and only losing a couple of flamers and some chaff. no head butt but not sure thats worth the cost when things are already this risky and expensive and already has some hit power.
edit: could be interesting next to some rough riders...
I have a TON of games with basically this load out. I quite like it.
Hmmm yeah I could throw this together, just need to find a good nork proxy for my chemdawgs.
Etsy has some good Death Korps themed Ogryns/Bullgryns that would make a good proxy.
Does this blob lose Scouts 6"? I'm guessing that, once you implement the PCS, and Nork, they stop being so sneaky, and at this size, they also stop being cozy inside a Chimera, so how much casualties can they expect to take GETTING to their big fight? I like that a lot of this works when they are charged, as well, but then I assume whatever plans to charge them will shoot them up, first, or a support squad will riddle them with shots, and then a charge will happen. What's the likelihood most of this unit actually gets to fight before field conditions whittle them down?
Unrelated, but I wish that such bodyguards had a special rule that let them use THEIR Toughness, since it's likely a safe bet at least some of Nork's point cost is based on that high Toughness. Oh well.
You can do the same thing with techpriests, servitors and a normal ogryn bodyguard.
If 1 is good why not hav 3?
Is it the dreadnork?? No. Does it kill Angron at full health if you get to throw grenades and get the charge, yes if you roll average. This combo slaps so hard. Punches well above it's weight every game
thats a good combo, but i take a different approach. i use stracken to get lethals, and then i use a regimental preacher for sustained.
You didn't even mention all the lasgun shots with lethals and the flamers, yeah this is looking fun and yes competitive
Does character or command squad joining a unit gain that unit's special ability? Can platoon command squad's models get 'grim demeanor' after joining DKOK squad and 5++ save from a death korps martial in the same squad?
Yes.
It's why the Dread-Nork is good. Lethal, +1Str, bonus AP.. Platoon commander with powerfist, straken and Nork all hit hard.
How does Nork go from T6 to T3 by being with th catachans?
He doesn't he goes to T3. He has to use the majority T of the unit he's in AKA the command squad
Above is incorrect.
He's uses the bodyguard units toughness because it says to in the core rules. Has nothing to do with "majority". However if it is just nork and the command squad the unit would be T6.
@@morganrudolph7929 Also, he can't be wounded before the bodyguards (Catachans that is) are all gone. Wounds can't be allocated to attached units.
@@karlnygren not quite correct, you can't allocate wounds to a character in a unit while the bodyguard is still alive.
Nork is not a character so you can pass wounds to him or anyone else in the command squad except the character model in the attached leader unit.
I miss creed and kell
Rambler is great, don't get one of these with a light and skip all the pens and buy a pen they work better lasts longer cost far less and sre easyier to write with
first of all is getting it to the enemy, cant do it in a normal transport and i hope your enemy doesnt bring flamers.
Crassus is the answer 🤣
I can't stand that you have to use the "majority toughness" for units. ESPECIALLY for Bodyguard models.
When the bodyguard squad dies, the command squad will become T6 while the ogryn is alive
Brood Brothers where?
o7
why do I hear a boltgun cocking...... oh crap..... like like like!!!!
Mordian
FAQ says unattached command squad with Ogyrn bodyguard can be Toughness 6.
Unit’s Toughness Characteristic: If an Attached unit contains
models with different Toughness characteristics, for the purpose of
determining that unit’s Toughness characteristic, use the highest
Toughness characteristic amongst that unit’s Bodyguard models.
If a non-Attached unit contains models with different Toughness
characteristics, for the purpose of determining that unit’s Toughness
characteristic, use the highest Toughness characteristic amongst all
of that unit’s models. In either case, When resolving attacks against
such a unit, determine that unit’s Toughness characteristic when it is
selected as a target.
This thing is giving 12VP assassinate.
Honestly why take infantry at all? Tanks kill infantry, got decent OC, hard to kill, destroy Monster vehicles.
I hate being forced to play this way, but just go all tanks. 2-3 dorns, and max cheap hulls with a tank commander for dorns
Assassination only give 4/5 VP per turn, so having a lot isn't that bad.
If you lose all characters in your army the enemy get full points anyway.
@@karlnygren fixed buddy. If you see 4+ characters. Gotta go fixed. Tactical won’t score more than 30 on a good game.
@@erupendragon7376 Nork isn't a character
@@LordMacragge31 you are correct sir! Somehow he is an epic hero but not character. Guess he also comes back with the one time only reinforcement.
@@erupendragon7376 hmmm I never considered that, maybe?
Nork is not a character.
That sentence is funny
