I managed to table a space marine player in 3 turns with an 87% infantry guard list. This channel helped me do it
danm bro good for you!
what was the rest? the 13%?
@@---gk9ve guards in reserve :>
@@Toadalitarian there is no such thing as "reserve" in the guard, there is only a commissar waiting in your back
I can not stress how helpful these videos are for beginners. I am new to 40k, and my first combat patrol is on the way. I already have about 2 squads worth of the OG five pack Cadians I picked up years ago, but did nothing with. It is really nice to be able to have these videos to help.
If your first combat patrol is astra militarum I encourage you to not build them as they are in the combat patrol format (unless you really don't care about wysiwyg (what you see is what you get)). They are very suboptimal loadouts (and anti synergistic) for regular 40k. I can give you some suggestions for better loadouts if you are interested :)
Glad to help!
@@theStamaxI’m interested, I built and painted my first squad with an auto gun melta and plasma I plan on getting the combat patrol or a leman Russ
@@Cyd99 You mean the autogun on the seargant? That's a solid choice on top of melta and plasma (melta could be a grenade launcher as well if you favour range, but melta is fine). Did you build the vox caster as well? They are free in 10th so really no reason not to have it.
Regarding Russ and how to build a combat patrol it really comes down to a few things. Mostly, what do you wanna run the infantry as. The Field Ordnance Battery I'd both build as the indirect fire version as you'll basically never use them as anything else in regular 40k. The armored sentinel should also likely just be a Scout Sentinel with Lascannon, Hunter Killer and the Chainsaw.
@@theStamaxYes sarge has the autogun (and cigar) I also did build the commo guy too.
I’m definitely going to building the bombast field guns. Thanks for the advice the sentinel. As far as leman Russ I’ve been thinking about going exterminators, my friend got custodes and I feel like a pair of them will help.
As far as infantry I’m feeling a little conflicted, I like the look of kreigsman and cadians when the kreig kill team came out I painted up a squad of them, I was wondering does it make sense for them to team up? Like having different regiments fighting together in the trenches. Same with tanks, I want some kreig Grey tanks for malcadors and macharius tanks and my leman russes painted up in classic cadian camo. What do you think would my army look out of place?
I’m not even a Guard player, I am starting a 1000 point CSM army. I just like your videos, lol.
For any of you who are curious, Blog For The Blood God is also an amazing resource for CSM players, but MG has so much detail and depth to their content.
Pure infantry first ehh, certainly no bias here
As an admech player I find a lot of your videos very useful for my horde lists
Ah, fresh Mordian Glory. A dish best served.
My aim ever since I heard you first mentioned it on a previous video has been a Mechanized Guard army but a bit lighter and leaning towards more infantry with currently having only one Chimera and my intent to have at least three Scout Sentinels ready for my first actual game down the line. Chimeras, Sentinels and a x10 squad of Catachan proxies push an objective with their high movement while my 20 man blob of Cadian Shock Troopers, Command Squad, Castellan and Bullgryns pushing up behind them.
Edit: Also, from what I have that forgot to write was two Bombast Field Guns and my yet undecided loadouts for my Heavy Weapons Teams.
Really appreciating the submitted army photos.
Just started playing again after stopping in 7th edition. This makes me excited for my new Kroot hoard!
Man... those Wargame atlantic "Grognards" models look so good.
Following one of your videos on a ww1 themed army I created my own but with basilisks, death riders and kriegers plus the usual stuff of solar creed etc. I think it’s the best the index can do with born soldiers rewarding not moving and reinforcements rewarding mass infantry. Just played a game yesterday and brought back 350 points of infantry at the end !
Only problem is time, in tournament I can’t pass 3rd turn before the 3h clock…
Overall I follow your tips with great success !
Always a good day when mordian uploads, which is pretty much everyday😊
I got (nearly) tabled by the end of Turn 2 against 3 Bane Blades, 2 Leman Russ, an Engine Seerer, and a 10 man Krieg.
Guilliman, 2 Lancers, a tech marine, a Redemptor, scouts, infiltrators, Infernus, Vindicare assassin, and more.
He killed everything but Guilliman, the Phobos Lt, Assassin, and some Intercessors on the other side of the table.
The only _small_ win I got in that game was my Inceptors Meteoric Descent’d onto his Engine Seer and killed him.
I have actually used reinforcements on my own movement phase. Unit of DK riders flamed by genestealer cults. I had the cp, so I just slapped them back down on the other side of the board on the same turn.
It is a correct move ? It seem wrong no possible
@@clarkwalter7170 yep totally legal
So long as you have 2cp in the bank, you can use the Reinforcements! strategem once per phase.
Overwatch is triggered during the movement phase when a unit is moved, so if a Regiment unit is destroyed by overwatch you can use the stratagem, and they go in strategic reserves.
The reinforcement step comes directly after the end of your movement phase, and that unit that was just placed in strategic reserves can be brought back on to the board
My Steel Legion army is itching right now!
Good to see the 13th Cadian in the intro.
Hey buddy! Thanks for the contents! Very useful for a new guy in the 40k and Guard worlds❤ Do you maybe posted somewhere written tips about Artillery Guard list and playstile? 🎉🎉🎉🎉
This was a really useful video, I'm in the planning stage of a Praetorian army right now. Leaning towards a foot guard list, a thick red blob standing between the Imperium and total destruction.
I love my thin red line of Praetorians. So fun to field, win or lose.
@@nonnisitedomine7744 It's been a dream army of mine for some time. I remember looking longingly at the various regiments in GW as a kid, Valhallans, Steel Legion, Vostryans, Mordians etc. They all had so much character, it's a shame they don't still produce models for them. At least Catachans survived. For now.
Loving all the WGA plastic
I just got back from a game of infantry guard versus tanks and the infantry ate up all the tanks. Because they are indeed the Emperor's true finest!
Can you do a video on Pure Scions in 10th? Beginner list, taurox v taurox prime, etc.
Lol, love the "like" warning, also still love mech infantry as a way to play.
...combined arms.
You need enough of each tactic to achieve your objectives vs the opposition.
What that is... depends on the opposition.
Good luck.
The emperor protects.
I might be wrong, but the artillery hitting on 2+ isn’t possible with indirect fire and the Scout Sentinel Daring Recon doesn’t negate that part (where unmodified of 1-3 auto miss) of the indirect fire penalty…
I'm getting into 40k, and guard has always been interesting. So thank you. Though, is there a video that gives a list in the 1,000-3,000 pts for these playstyles?
what are the infantry models used at 3:49? I love those guns and lids!
Old Guardmsn player here returning i am cackling like a pirate as my Cadians make ready to deploy.
Love this
I love my large firing line of suited up 20 man blobs of kriegsmen marching foreword with their pyskers and marshals behind them to secure the mid board, mean while I have my dedicated anti-armor reaper destroyer batteries targeting the basterd tau's big guns on the other side of the board. I got 66 foot troops of krieg infantry and 6 batteries sniping my friends big toys off the board. Soon Ill be running Lord Leontus and two 10 man rough riders so they can flank and shank my friends big guns or his fire warriors, or anything else that might pop out from his reserves >:)
Always Air Cav
I don't care that my Valkyries aren't meta, I'm putting Ride of the Valkyries on full blast and reenacting Apocalypse Now in the 41st Millennium.
So as a new player, if a lascannon hits my 20 squad of guard, and does full 7 damage, does that mean that because it only had 1 attack it only kills 1 model?
Yes, it only kills 1 model
Can't wait for Knight Commander Pask
well i got this video recommended to me since im starting a guard army. And im sure you made a video on it, but how does artillery army work as if 4+ to hit indirect fire update?
CAn't believe every Guardsman is born with a womb and udders, crazy times.
Artillery is still definitely used by deathguard, you'd be in for trouble if you don't count on seeing a couple of PBC's in most lists
I probably lean to the true Combined Regiment: Inf/armor/artillery. Its just hard to pick anything else. Led by Constantin ans his trusty human sidekick.
I only have a combat patrol so far, but an Infantry guard army sounds appealing, especially as mine are painted as Brirish Redcoats instead of ww2 camo
Everytime I see a Guard video it's just a mass of tanks which I found a little underwhelming, it's nice to hear about viable infantry strats, it sounded like the game had moved away from that
Mussssttt geettt invisssss-align....and BRAINS!
I might be wrong cause i am just a beginner. but doesn't it say in the rulebook your hit number can never be modified by more than 1. so a manticore can never hit on anything better than a 3? not a two
+1 to WS and +1 on the To Hit roll. These are 2 different things. The Sentinel let's you disregard the Indirect Fire and reroll 1. So 2's rerolling 1.
153rd here. I didn’t go in with the first wave 😢
I totally buy some earthshakers
3:22 where can i get this??
Thanks im a new guard player
@Mordian Glory: How combining mech Guard and artillery Guard?🙂
Just take the Meta-Melta-Gun and melt the Meta!
Is there a typical infantry horde list somewhere?
They all are about the same points, he's saying 200, so you'll have to combine a few battleline to get there. That being said, fought against someone using a DK big blob, they were more than annoying and I'm inclined to use then now for putting in the center
Is there any other way to support the channel that isn't a subscription to patreon or becoming a channel member? I don't like keeping my info saved anywhere, and patreon has unfairly treated various creators in the past for political reasons. Thanks for any reply! I want to get on the discord 👀 😫 😩 😔
Surprised you didn't mention David Gaylards kin/gryn list that won a supermajor. Would have thought that was a pretty solid guard playstyle?
I consider that an Arty Guard style army list :)
@@MordianGlory can see where you're coming from. Arty/elite infantry.
@@percymacdonald6657honestly i wouldnt count bullgryn as elite except for their cost/durability. They certainly have a super elite defensive stat tho.
Wouldnt call 1 bullgryn unit a gryn list tho
It is like GW watched this for their guard nerfs
Nice
The commissar was wrong! I have liked the video!
Hmm, I sertenly haven't seen a foot guard list winning any big event so far? 🤷
Could it be that mordian just telling what HE thinks is the best? Which doesn't refer to reality?
Just thinking...
My problem with infantry would be the giant TimeSuck using them in a tournament with how deliberate you would need to be and movement in general
The Patreon supporter thing on the side is so painful and the tiny ass tv screen making it even worse
Bro fix your videos actually so bad.
this is soooo wrong the strongest army for guard right now is tank line and scions. any person sleeping on scions is dumb. 10 man scions with a scion command squad has up to EIGHT power weapons in a 15 man. with the new rule of dropping in a nd giving orders they got even better. drop in give them take aim and they are hitting on 2s rerolling 1 sustain hits 1. if there target is on a objective you give them first rank fire second rank fire. dont forget deep strike so none of your points are wasted on transports that do nothing but provide movement then get blown up.
I play scion spam and while they are good they are nowhere near that amount of power weapons, and they do zilch against tanks in melee.
Also i dont think scions mess well with a tank line, you probs want them alongside artillery and other elite infantry configurations. Creed, inquisitors. The whole 9 yards. Thats it, a non leontus list!
Sounds like what he meant was special weapons, not power weapons. I agree with some of these points. I run a scion cmd squad as my warlord... Relying on Corteaz for CP generation
@@averagetosaverage8785 yeah you right its special weapons.
@@javilo2797 its not scion spam its tank line and scions. use tanks to destroy most other armor and scions to do objectives and murder most units even tanks. my buddy also runs a shadowsword with the techno terry(the mek healer) who is stupid good for giving a 4+ invuln to tanks. i dont do the list justice its not my list its my best friends and he wreaks with it.
pure infantry is the best style. I love the corps. Real ones know the rest.
