    This show was from 1957, not 58. The audio on this one is the best of any else here on UTube. Thanks for posting this.

      You're correct, of course. Probably September 1957. Tex was good to Carl, even as his career at Sun was winding down. There appeared to be no generational tension between those two legends at a time when there was an all time high of friction between new and old, at the country music scene. A tribute to the good nature of both men.

    Carl was the very best Rockabilly artists. Even his country music was great. It was more complex than others of the time.
    He was such a talented singer, song writer and musician. An American jewel for sure.

      He wrote from his heart and from his experiences! Not a Nashville formula type. He was writing as grown, happily married man in an industry (at the top) determined to treat rock and roll as an infantile musical genre for teenagers.

      rock n roll was still good, better than the shit nowadays by far. On a scale of 1 to 100, 1950s rock was 100000000 whereas todays rock is 3 out of 10

    I still wonder why this song wasn't a greater of Carl's hits. It's pure masterpiece, in country, rock and roll and pop sense of that time.

      If you love this you love classic country western. Why are you ashamed to it? There are many songs that sound like this by other artists. Check out "Dusty Owens who do you think they would blame"

    Another great performance by this wonderful artist. Carl is one of my favorite country singers and he's such a fine musician. I really like this song. He looks so sexy in his pirate style shirt. So many of today's musicians look like they came off of a train cattle car. Thank you for posting this. - Paula

    I withdraw my inclusion of George,in my dislike of Carl jamming with "Superstars!" George,like me was a huge Perkins fan and would love to hear all the fabulous outtakes,which are now available. At a Cavern lunchtime session in 1961,he sang my request for Lend Me Your Comb,with name check.(my stage name that is!"

    Everybody: Check out 'Sure To Fall' by Carl on his 'Dance Album' 33rpm LP released in the UK in 1958 - It's a brilliant rockabilly album, the album title doesn't do the tracks credit, but all his Sun top tracks are on it including this great ballad

    Perkins' Gold Top still exists today, owned by his family.
    It is no longer gold, having been painted blue to to match that song of his.........

      I wonder if he had more than 1. In the Honey Don't video he has what looks like a 52, unless he changed it over to a Bigsby.

    • @pjriverdale8461
      @pjriverdale8461 2 роки тому

      @@thomasz4981 No mention is made of a second guitar. When he appears with it again in the 1957 Ranch Party episode, it is a PRE 1957 P90 pickup equipped guitar.
      52's with the trapeze unit were easy conversions to Bigsby's as there were minimal to no holes left behind from the change.
      Interesting possibility if there was more than one guitar. Meaning, one of his could still be out there...........
