Our Story:
We are six years into a seven year effort of transforming 20 acres of "Piney Grove" in Northwest Florida into our dream homestead/mini farm to be filled with animals and joy. We plan to have a variety of miniature critters on our pastures, raise free-range chickens, grow fish in our pond, garden, plant fruit and nut trees, and harvest wild game. Our goal is
to escape the stresses of corporate life and embrace all that country living
has to offer as we enter the next chapter of our lives. Follow along on our

Having the manual dump feature makes it so versatile!
So does the cedar chips deter bugs? Is that the purpose?
Cedar can deter good and bad bug...that's the downfall if you need bees to pollinate! But the purpose for the chips is weed control and soil building.

What rpms does the tractor run with the chipper?
540 PTO RPM which is about 2500 tractor RPM.
Why did you not put the chipper on the Kubota and the pump trailer on the summit with hydraulics ? Does the chipper also need hydraulics?
No hydraulics needed on chipper. I usually run the chipper with the 25hp Summit because it's better on fuel!! The Kubota is 38hp.
This is definitely how you treat a loaner tractor and not your own tractor! I would never run a wood chipper on my Kubota. It just adds unnecessary wear and hours.
Tractors are made for 1000s of hours of use doing work. If it can't handle being run, then I don't want it. Plenty of wood chippers being run by Kubotas every day.
@@PineyGroveHomestead They are run properly, not what you are doing. You don't consistently stall out a tractor by giving it more than you can handle. That's not good for any piece of equipment. I see you aren't do that to your Kubota. Prove me wrong and treat the equipment that you paid tens of thousands for like that.
Next time, you chip back the trailer to the discharge and angle the dump a little. I'm planning to use woodchips on my walkways this year in the garden.
