I have a 6.5 foot solid smooth blade disc that i have used for 46 years of my life and i have never had vines get wrapped up in the disc like that. The smooth solid blades cut the vines and big weeds up a lot better than the notched blades do, granted i have to tie on some concrete blocks to add weight to it to make it heavier to cut weeds and cut deeper into the soil. Im from central Kansas where our soil is mostly clay and get really hard like rocks when it gets dry. I love your content and enjoy watching your videos. Thanks A. Willems
Great video ya'll!! Good job young lady for first time could tell you got comfortable pretty quickly you was raisin it up while still travelling. Wonder if you could have taken the forks run down picked the vines up before you disk. The summit is definitely a fine lookin tractor i was thinkin pretty hard about maybe gettin one but i drove a big rig 40 year's just had to have a shuttle shift. Thanks for sharing ya'll be safe have fun. God bless
@@PineyGroveHomestead, it Looked like you were a little frustrated with the vines being wrapped around the disks. I know sometimes it is not ideal, but you did have a workaround for the issue.

Smooth blades may cut better, but most new discs come with notched blades from what I've seen for sale in equipment lots! Thanks for the support.
Looks like you have room for longer rows. That would make Deb happy for sure!
She's getting the hang of it!
What we normally do is to mow the garden off before we work it up!
Good point. We didn't think those vines would be so tough!
Great information. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Nice work on the Summit, Deb!
She is OUT OF CONTROL!!

Disked ours, smooth disks seemed like they cut the vines better instead of wrapping around the notched disks
Could be, but I cut my hand on these pans, so they are pretty sharp!
I use a rotary cutter and mulch it all up before disking
We didn't think these vines would be so TOUGH! Thanks for watching.
I don’t know about this Brad, teach Mrs PG to farm and she will take your equipment LoL. That Deb is a good girl🚜
It's risky for sure! She already doesn't want me on the zero turn!

Hopefully Trevor does not get fired for spending time there.
We were his last stop!
Next time, when you want to till, why not use the rake first to pull it off to the end of the garden, and once done tilling, just put it back to dry?
Ideally, all that would get tilled in to enrich the soil.
