FAIRBAIRN METHOD GUTTER FIGHTING - - HANDS OFF NO.15 UMBRELLA DRILL

- William Ewart Fairbairn noted for his WWII Hand-to-hand methods created the now famous combat manuals "Get Tough" and "All in Fighting" also created a women's self-defense manual titled; " HANDS OFF". That manual included no.15 Umbrella Drill. This umbrella designed for women is an exact repeat of the baton/stick drills from his earlier military manuals, except it adds a few extra techniques. Having waited a long time to produce this video I finally came across an umbrella that would consistently support a full-out hyper-aggressive execution of Fairbairn's no.15 drill. The umbrella is the; "Security Umbrella men "City-Safe" round hook handle/tactical umbrella" from security-umbre.... I do not sell this umbrella, nor is it in any way a paid promotion. Instead my intention is to provide a proven method of self-defense paired up with a proven legal-to-carry tool. This is a pairing up that you can trust under any circumstances.
Excellent sequence, I may just consider buying an umbrella! 😊 Peter (UK)
As I say I DO NOT SELL them NOR DO I GET A KICKBACK but I do highly recommend them. Definitely a functional asset.
I used an umbrella to great effect once. Stopping a strong armed robbery.
I was on vacation in New Orleans, LA.
My girlfriend and I were on Burbon St. at the John Lefeat Pirate Bar.(so I was not armed) As we stepped out on the street. A man with a painted face (like a street performer) attempted to sucker punch me. And then tried to get behind me with a razor knife. To cut my pockets open and rob me. I quickly struck him with my umbrella repeatedly. My umbrella had about a 4in metal tip. And a wooden handle.
I played the zylafone on his ribcage with it. And kept thrusting at his ribcage. The encounter lasted about 5 to 10 seconds. He staggered away, holding his chest and yelling. My umbrella, though, was pretty much kaput. But it absolutely worked great.
Self defense umbrellas really work great for that. And most of them will work as ordinary umbrellas too!
Welcome back , a year away is too long brother. Great information as always.
I bought one from the people you recommend. it's a terrific product which I can carry anywhere. I live in the USA in a large city where there's a lot of violence in certain areas. To keep safe, I carry a spring assisted knife, this umbrella and my Glock .45 cal. Recently, the top malls in the city installed metal detectors to prevent people with weapons from entering. It's risky to go to the movies in this city. I bought all of Fairburn's books from Amazon & I practice on "Bob", the body target Now, I'm making the umbrella drill a daily habit. Thanks for this recommendation.
Welcome back - long time, no see.
Nicely done friend

You can use the same torque on the third move (butt stroke) as the first.
As well as the down stroke.
Thanks, Barry. Good presentation. Here in the UK, this item could be useful and not just because of the bad weather.😊 The sad thing is that if used, some woke politician or cop will make a fuss out of it. They like banning things here. BTW, I have Bill's compendium. All good stuff 👍
True about the police sadly in today Britain they can't even defend their own borders with thousands getting into Britain in dinkys
great stuff!
Awesome video thank you for sharing your knowledge sir :)
Awesome 👍 thanks!
These were police baton tactics tought in the USA from the 50s to the 80s.
But too many cops crossing the line, abusing their authority, caused the old wooden batons and the PR24 batons to be banned and replaced with expandable batons that only can be swung like a club but can't be used in the two handed rake and jab method.
I still teach these methods using a hanbo or baton.
As a retired LEO, I would like to clear the air, on the use and retirement of straight and PR24 batons as you say by "cops crossing the line, abusing their authority." Yes, unfortunately there were and still are instances those abuses do occur, but to make it appear it is a wide spread issue, is not factual. The reason for the replacement of these 'tools' by some law enforcement agencies, was that officers found they were leaving them in their patrol units, and not taking them when responding to dispatched calls. This made them inconvenient, so the expandable baton, was developed. Due to its shorter length, it was carried on the officer's duty belt, so the officer had it in or out of the unit. Also, if these tools were used in the manner that they were developed (not being wildly swung), they are an effective deterrent device when needed to deescalate the problem at hand. Many departments are returning to the issuance, of poly straight and side handled batons and ditching the expandable versions. Stay safe.
I have a certain amount of disdain for self defence methods progogated via UA-cam for use against unyielding opponents, however I am prepared to exercise a bit more respect for anything from Mr Fairbairn as I expect that it has all been rigorously tested in combat.
Thanks
I have to walk with a cane so this would be great for my wife and I...
Great Stuff! Just shared this with our group.
Excellent demonstration.
Bery good!
Also if your a Kali practitioner it extends you reach.
Interesting!
I am not a believer for the use of an umbrella for unstated reasons. But if it is to be used, i would replace the security snap strap with longer, wider, stronger and multiple securing snap closures, to keep the panels closed. The last thing a defender would want is to have the panels open while trying to fight off an attacker..
Is he still teaching, if so when and where?
With all due respect; "Is who still teaching, and if so when and where"?
You, the man in the video. I'm interested in learning Fairbairn so I googled and found your LinkedIn but not the contact information or a page on training sessions.@@fairbairnprotocolh2h399
