Paul Vunak's RAT (Rapid Assault Tactics) Technique Fighting System is a comprehensive martial arts and self-defense system designed to provide practical and effective techniques for real-world self-defense scenarios.
Paul Vunak developed the R.A.T fighting system as a quick learn no nonsense training curriculum to teach to the US Navy SEALs. He was commissioned by the Naval Special Warfare Command to teach hand to hand fighting to our nation’s best fighters. Instead of having months or years to train a fighter, Paul was tasked with training fighters in his system and having them reach a high level of competency in a few days.
To achieve this, Paul developed his Rapid Assault Tactics training methodology. His RAT fighting techniques are simple, brutal, and effective. It’s a fighting system that doesn’t rely on size or strength, or years of practice. Paul Vunak’s RAT fighting system relies on simplicity. R.A.T fight techniques are simple to learn, and devastatingly effective in any self defense situation. RAT self defense techniques can be learned by men and women of any age and skill level.
In this playlist you’ll find Paul Vunak’s original R.A.T fighting system video lessons. TRS and FightFast are the original publisher of this program and the copyright holder to this system. Many people have copied it over the years, and yes plenty of people have ripped off Paul system or use his name or his system’s name for their own benefit, but none of them are the original work by Paul Vunak. In this program you are learning from the best.
If you are interested in more self defense training by Paul Vunak, you are in the right place. You’ll find many more of Paul instructional videos on our channel as well as his complete programs for sale on our website. It’s impossible for all of Paul Vunak’s training street fighting knowledge to be condensed into just one program, so although R.A.T is great, there’s always more to learn. Below is a package containing his street safe 1, 2, and 3 training programs, along with the original condensed version of his R.A.T fighting system.

Many years ago I inadvertently ended , and won, a Tae Kwon Do match when I blocked a punch (by accident) with an elbow. The opponent couldn’t continue, and I never forgot that lesson. These techniques are proven!

Fighting is quick..You must be faster than your opponent and surprise him. Combined with leverage, power is your next asset..Winning is EVERYTHING and you can't settle for less..Others usually at not really ready when the time comes and some "BLINK" during fighting..Both favor you..NEVER think you could lose...I'm 81 now and still undefeated with a lot of street fights..Walking away before a fight is ALWAYS the best thing...

      Do I agree?
Absolutely not because there are factors missing here that are present in the reality of a real confrontation...
Everyone is different and everyone has to be successful in the realities of the understanding of their own SELF and own WAY .... So we teach each individual to be their own SELF in a form of perpetual motion and movement...

@@FightFast Very nice of you to post the whole RAT system on UA-cam free of charge. I liked it so much when someone showed me the system in sparring I bought the entire Vunak collection from TRS. It is simple, it is effective, it is easy to learn, and it prepares you to be combat effective without months and years of training.
After learning this system a person really does have a significant advantage against any untrained fighter. If you find yourself in a fight with a trained, or professional, fighter you will at least have a decent chance of surprising them with a destruction and straight blast.
Paul Vunak's Street Safe I II and III are also well worth a view.
A Similar System in the UK has Struck a Chord with Law Enforcement Agencies
      ================================================================
There is a system in the UK that appears to be a one handed version of RAT and it has spread like wildfire among police departments in the UK. It has an entry system, pressure system, and elbow and headbutt termination.
Perhaps with a less aggressive name than Rapid Assault Tactics re-branded might be able to catch on with police departments, jails, prisons, and federal law enforcement agencies. If you are a police department calling your training rapid ASSAULT tactics may not be helpful in a use of force case. Currently Blauer Tactical's Spear System seems to have the biggest influence in law enforcement communities. A re-branded spin off of the RAT system should be easier to learn than the Spear system, and should get more interest in the Tactical Community. Unfortunately if it isn't Vunak teaching it, it just wont be as good. Vunak is amazing.

I like your technique. Covering your head is something that professional fighters don't do enough of. Your moves are simple and you very much are teaching people to strike with parts of their body they won't break, ie, knees, elbows, and head. On top of ghat, this technique takes advantage of the fact most street fights are over very quickly, a lot of times with 1 person getting ko'd. Here, your goal is to not be the easy ko. And, when a fight starts, there is a rush of adrenaline. Your brain doesn't fuction well on adrenaline and tends to do what it knows, which can be really bad sometimes, like curling up in the fetal position. Here, when that initial dump of adrenaline hits, they are trying to be very active, which will literally help them desl with the adrenaline. That was always my problem, get in a fight, see red, all fighting style goes out the window because you can't think straight.

The guy he trains with at 9 min into vid, its weird cause they fight strange in the sense that when pacing each other the one guy kept crossing his feet. Crossing the feet in normal in most styles outside of boxing but when not attacking or countering, this is a great way to find youre self off balance. If i am squaring off with someone I look for the moment and strike. I have always considered feet crossing, amongst others, opportune time to strike.

What if I have two strikes going against me, such as, I'm 64 w/osteoarthritis in most of my body, and, the second strike is, I'd fallen nearly a year ago and I'd landed face forward on my right palm and had broken my wrist and I'm permanently disabled? What does one do in this case? In my heart, I'm innately a warriorous individual, although, at this stage in my life, I'm weak, however, I was always good at kicking, which is why I'd purchased a pair of steel toed Doc Marten boots, a few years ago, and I'd bought them specifically for this reason.

The ability to fight is something you earn through rigorous training, conditioning and ample amount of hard sparring ... You cannot possibly expect anything to work unless you're lacing up a pair of gloves and actually putting it to practice, that means taking punches from someone who's actually trying to hurt you and dishing it back, this is a venture, for some a lifelong endeavour, not something you watch and practice in front of your TV and expect to work when you need it to, you're better off buying a gun or a blade if you're really not passionate about the art ... the ability to gauge distance correctly to land, the development of reflexes, getting comfortable with the idea of getting hit where you're not flinching and closing your eyes when someone throws and just getting over the concept of loading up and telegraphing takes years of practice to become efficient ... i've been involved in Muay Thai for 15 years now and its proven in the ring on a daily basis and in times of war before rifles were even a thing ... I've been boxing for another 6 on top of that and i can tell you without actually getting in the ring and going 3 rounds once a week with 3 days of constant training you're not gonna gain anything from it.

@@FightFast Sure, your not standing still but neither is your opponent. Unless he’s extremely inexperienced, he’s not going to fire his punches until he is in range. This could potentially leave the practitioner more vulnerable to well-executed strikes.

Like spinning kicks , on paper they are the worst moves and yet they can work . Of course short range hits are a big part of Bruce Lee JKD… so I guess you need some good attributes to make them work

Civilization of some type is supposedly 10 to 12 thousand years old. Mankind is by far the most brutal animal to have existed in all that tme. I worked for 30 years in a particular state correctional agency. Ive seen the worst types of brutality that can possibly be seen outside of armed warfare. Literally rivers of blood. Bashed in skulls, faces beaten to jello by fists, 60 stab wounds from top to bottom and other things that let you know how dark a soul can be. I do not believe that a journey of any kind begins with a single step. It begins with thought. In the journey of self defense or self protection that thought is a purposeful mental change. If you think learning any technique is gonna save you by itself you might as well not learn any. The transition of normal citizens into beast. That is the true goal of self defense. Yes, learn fighting skills BUT...developing a beast mentality comes from realistic training. I and others who have had to deal with the Daily hand to hand aspect of self defense and Offense know that what needs to be taught/drlled into peoples mentality along with the skill set is instinctive brutality. To beat a beast you must become a Beast. So that no one thinks im downing your videos or techniques, they are good and do work...if applied with a survival mindset and that has to become a lifestyle which can, should and must be taught. You know im right. Thankyou for your Service
