Thank you so much for your videos! They have helped me a lot! I love my big guy! He went on his first road trip and did great. My Newfie loves to sleep outside. The only way he will sleep inside is on a chill matt that is right next to the AC vent

This is a great and informative video, thank you so much for making it! I have a pre-order "pick of the litter" ordeal from a Newfie AKC certified breeder coming up on July 17th, and our family is ridiculously excited. We have plenty of land and a decent sized (4000 sq ft) house, so we think it's going to be a perfect match for our 2 year old daughter to grow up with. I'm also an avid outdoorsman (fishing, hunting, etc.) so I'll have my Newfie with me constantly. Thanks for "shedding" some light on what is necessary for ownership, I guarentee I'll be buying some products from this video (especially that 4 gallon water tank, that thing is so cool!) :)

For a dog lovers it's literally very hard to watch for this much long video 😂 every second wnt to have that newfie at any cost 😅
I have 2 newfies and something ive found to be really helpful with watering is using a lixit. It attaches directly to the faucet and all the dogs have to do is lick it and they get infinite water without having to constantly fill up a bowl. I think most people attach them outside with to their hose hookups but they can also be nice in bathtubs if you can get it to attach (and if you aren’t planning on bathing in that tub)
Aaa yes!!! My in laws had it for their labs! Funny one of them was scared of it 🤣 we tried it once at their house but like our dogs didn’t care to mucho for It. But I agree it’s super practical!

I have a landseer newf (br & white) and I notice that the landseers tend to look less like giant fur balls compared to the full black and brown ones. All cute nonetheless
Aaaw I love it!! It really all depends on the line, usually black and white landseer can be just as fluffy and “thick” I believe brown and white do tend to be a little less fluffy I guess because of their lines … but agree all are a beautiful and adorable!

Do to his size you need to be careful of giving him rice because it can ferment in there intestines. I would recommend sweet potato it acts the same as rice afar as sensitive systems but won't ferment in there intestines. Just a suggestion.

This was a great video. We are actually looking for our very first dog.....which we both agree will be a newfy! The thing with my wife and I is that we would prefer to adopt a rescue rather than buy one. Also, in our research, we came across a brush for their undercoat that was attached to a shop vac to suck all the hair.
Any ideas on where to find a rescue newfy would be welcome.
Hi!! That’s awesome!! Yes we actually have the pet accessories for our dyson vacuum that sucks the hair as you brush. It’s good but I feel sometimes it’s too much of a pain getting the vacuum out just for a brush hehe but it’s a good option.
As far as rescues I would recommend checking first with your local shelter and rescues. A great resource is the the Newfoundland club of America. And maybe doing a quick google search for local newf rescues near your depending on your location 🤗

And for a dog with allergies chicken is the worst food you can feed them because most of the time their allergies are from chicken or beef or it could be grains I would have an allergy test done for him

We feed him half kibble half farmers dog but It should equal to 6-8 cups of kibble a day 🤗

Lol, it’s funny he understands a lot in both but he does have specific words he preferred in one or the other for example “stay and wait” we only say in English and he is super firm on those two. But then “metete” means get inside is 100% Spanish. Most of the basic commands he learned in English because they’re shorter ans easier to learn … but I guess it’s 100% Spanish at home so he’s picked up on that … lol

Second you're using all the wrong tools I'm professional groomer and business owner and you're using all the wrong tools never ever use affirminator on a double coated breed with long hair because it cuts the coat You can use an undercoat rake to get the extra undercoat out your best bet is if he has a good bath and the coat squeaks after you're done bathing that's a clean coat then when your blow drying with a high velocity dryer you should be able to take the comb poodle comb course And it'll pull all the undercoat out while you're drying If the comb gets stuck that means the coat is not clean That's your best deshedding tool And when brushing a double coated breed especially a Newfoundland you have to line brush the coat not just go over the top of the coat with a brush and a comb that's a no no you must line brush It will take out all the dander all the dirt all the knots
I think the key point in your comment is you ARE a professional groomer, I am not. These are all tools we have at home to help out when not able to get him to the groomer. But never do I do a full groom on him myself. Thanks for your advice, just note I have never claimed to be a groomer, again just sharing some of our stuff
Never use retractable leashes especially with a newf
I always agree with this, except for how we use it. We only use the retractable leash on our street, which like I mentioned is extremely calm and when going somewhere public we use a regular leash. But I don’t recommend them overall … just sharing out stuff
And if your groomer doesn't show you the proper tools to use and show you and explain to you how to groom your Newfoundland which by the way bhaloo is beautiful then I would definitely find a new groomer someone who knows about the breed I groom a bunch of newfoundlands including show dog newfoundlands And the tools you're using are not the proper ones and by all means I am not putting you down I'm just trying to educate you for the future reference
