Growing up, my neighbours had a Newf. I always thought she didn't have a thought in her head, she was so passive. Then one day one of the four little kids in the family started to wander into the road. That Newfie dog sprang into action, instant high alert, and blocked the child from going any further. Once all the kids were safely back in their yard, the dog settled back into her regular lolling self.
Yup! When I was a little girl, my parents had a Bouvier who didn't want me to leave the yard. Apparently it was okay to him if I went down the driveway, but if I tried to go across the lawn, he would muscle me back in. So if I wanted to visit my friend down the road, I had to go down the driveway while he watched my every move. When I came back he would be standing on the lawn waiting for me.
Newfies and Pit Bulls are very dedicated family dogs.
@@AngryNerdBird A friend of mine adopted a pittie. What a darling! Her only fault was that she thought she was a lap dog. I'd be sitting there with this huge Pit Bull sprawling all over me.

This is a true Newfoundland story: A 71 year old woman lived alone on a small island off the coast of Maine. She had two Newfis. She went out swimming one day and had a stroke. She started to drown, about 50 yards from the shore. Her two Newfis, Annie and Oliver, were playing in the waves. She was past the breaking waves. She started to go down - drowning. Within seconds, she felt large mouths on her arms. Annie and Oliver pulled her back to shore. She was able to stick her head up and breathe. She was able to crawl back up to her towel on the sand and rest. She then radioed her neighbor who came and got her in his boat, and he took her to the mainland to the ER. Annie and Oliver were fine and waited in the house on the island. She has facial paralysis but lived. Annie and Oliver are still with her today.

Amazing 😮
Good Boi and Gurl Story.
Angel dogs !
The most surprising part of this story is that the dogs even let their owner swim out. I had a newf/rottie cross and i couldnt take him swimming and have a swim myself. He kept pulling me to the banks.😂
This is capybara software running on dog hardware. So chill and content. What a marvelous breed
lol, great description and yes, Cappies are so sweet and mellow, like a Basset except for no Barruuuuuuuing !
I had one, she really was like that. Most calm breed out there. All she did was sleep, but also only barked when people were over. She wasn’t super playful, but she was a dang sweetheart. My favorite dog we had as a family.

I had a Newfie as a kid. We lived in a rural area and he liked to walk down the hill to the interstate, cross it and lie under an exit sign. The State cops repeatedly got reports of a black bear on the interstate.

My uncle is a truck driver, I remember the stories of the chatter on the radio about the "bear" seen along the highway. Pretty sure that was your dog!
I have a Newfoundland on my horse farm and in the indoor arena she will just lay in the path where the horses are going. Love her to death but she is so lazy
I never thought I would just sit here and watch dogs and cats get bathed, but I do and I love it.
I used to watch my other do it as a child with our doggos. I do it myself now, but I enjoyed watching her years ago. I knew I would like these. It’s strangely pleasing to watch, isn’t it? It’s like those rug cleaning videos, only not nearly as nasty from the start (usually because some dogs are overly dirty especially in the bum region lol).
Me too !😂 This is so calming for the brain at the end of the day! They are such beautiful angels!
The past year has been pretty rough for me. Any time I need a splash of happiness, I pull up one of these videos & bask in all the happy dogginess.
It's like a cup of tea and fruit/cheese plate. Very comforting to watch after a long day.
Same haha 😅
As a human owned by a Newfie, I thank you for showcasing their temperament and beauty. I have a 4 yr o!d Newf rn. They do require an owner that is willing and able to keep up with grooming. I first fell in love with the breed when an elderly neighbor passed away. Her daughter asked me if I would like to adopt George. He was 13yrs old ( which if you know the breed is amazing) and severely matted. Not because of lack of love and care. She brushed him everyday on her front porch. She was 97 and just didnt realized how his undercoat had matted up very badly over the years. When we got him he had to be shaved unfortunately. We were lucky though, his coat did grow back. It required a lot of c!ose grooming appointments to keep it from matting back up though. His groomer said that is why shaving a double coated dog is not something to do unless necessary.
He knew us and already played with our kids. Her daughter was from out of state. We happily took him in, and I credit George with giving my son's now service dog the start in life she needed. He showed her how to be gentle and patient. We got the pleasure of 3 years with this gentle giant. He was the best book club member ever because he loved being a pillow for his humans. He helped me during my boys toddler years and welcomed the new baby boys with open paws. He would sit under a jumper so the boys could jump on him rather than the floor. He was taught 2 of my boys to walk by being a living walker. We knew his time was getting close and I would lay with him and beg him to tell me when he was ready. We didn't want him to ever have pain. One morning he woke up and couldn't stand. I knew he was ready to say goodbye. We weren't, but how could you ever be.
Our vet has a home hospice service, where they will come to your home. We wanted him to pass in peace and not afraid at the vet's office. So my husband went and got him pancakes with syrup, bacon, eggs and a blueberry muffin. All the things he used to try and sneak because Mrs. Pearl used to give him a lot of people food. He ate like a king. All the kids said their goodbyes and my husband took them to a playground. George and I played on his bed and I thanked him for coming into out lives. I told him that he had taught Neela the pup. I to!d him that we would be ok and that it was ok for him to go join Mrs. Pearl because she had been waiting. He !used his eyes and peacefully went to sleep and. Crossed the rainbow bridge.
Here I am sobbing like a baby over the passing of a dog I never even met. You gave George 3 years full of love and happiness when he needed them the most. You are a wonderful neighbor, friend, and human.
Thanks for taking the time to share this with us 🤗 !

My dad got one from a kill shelter, without my knowledge when I was 13. One day I came home from school, got my shoes off...and then this black, horse sized beast walked behind the corner, looking at me. As a Finn, I can explain. Tyyne is an older Finnish name popular back in the start of the 1900s and essentially means calm, quiet, serene... It's pronounced... well, "Tyyne". Why did I think your comment was a poem?
Our Newfie, Honor (RIP), was so non-aggressive that even when two little yappy dogs were "attacking her" ...by which I mean they were hanging off of her chest with a mouthful of double-coat, she just sat there looking exactly like Sadie. Chilling.
That word picture is amazing and made me chuckle. RIP Honor, you chill beast.
My boxer got attacked by a chihuahua … as in it tried biting his ankles… unsuccessfully. Mine just looked like “mama why is that rat attacking me? Oh well…”
My grampa had a 6 foot Newfie. My siblings and I would ride him like a horse. Most laid back dog ever... Unless... My dad took him for a walk once, a doberman and a boxer were loose and started growling. Dad let go of the leash and the Newfie swatted one of them away and held the other in its mouth until it gave up. Well, he told that story anyway lol.

This sweet dog deserves to hear "good girl" over and over like some of the anxious ones. Same thing happens with good kids - we take their goodness for granted and they don't hear affirmations as much as they deserve 🥰
All of us need some positive affirmation, from time to time. Great comment.
That exact thought went through my head as well 😊.

This sweet dog's attitude throughout the whole session was like, "Sure, what the hell, give it your best shot."
I had a Newfoundland dog when I was a kid. Couldn't go for a swim in a lake with her cause every time I got in the water, she immediately jumped after me and dragged me on to the shore.

I’ll never forget being up at my old trailer. Some lady came to visit the neighbour off a little in the distance and when she went inside she left her giant black Newfoundland. Well the sky in the distance was already dark and within a few mins you could hear the thunder coming. Next thing I know the big baby’s standing at the bottom of the hill going up to my trailer looking at us with sad puppy eyes. He politely sat there until we invited him up at which point he lumbered up to the deck and sat with us until she came out lol. Poor guy was scared of the thunder and didn’t want to be alone
Nooooooooooo, stop it, you're breaking my heart here. I can completely imagine the eyes he gave you. Poor little bear.
My family's Newfoundland she was just like that. Super loving and protective but if the vacuum cleaner came out that's it she was hiding under your feet.
I was adopted by a newfie mix that would try to hide behind my legs under my desk (I was using a sewing machine desk) whenever there was a storm... needless to say, if I knew a storm was coming, we studied in the bathroom. He was calmer, I was calmer. Miss you Bear.❤❤❤
I was born and raised in Newfoundland. Such great dogs. I later lived in Ontario and I attended a dog show with my then girlfriend who was a single parent. She inquired to the breeder of Newfoundland dogs whether the dog would require a great deal of exercise . He replied " Do you have a couch ? "

I love Newfies. I once worked as a bather (wasn't certified to give grooms, so just baths), and a lady brought her Newfies in. I was asked if I could assist by brushing out the chest of one of them using a rake. So at first, I'm terrified, brushing the coat of this giant grizzly. Then he sniffs at me and licks my face. I swear, that tongue was the size of my head. Been a fan of Newfies ever since. ❤
I can imagine him thinking "dont be tense honey, i wont bite" *lick* 🥰
Wait, NEWFIES, plural!? No wonder they needed an extra set of hands!😂 but they are the sweetest aren’t they?
I was giving a bath to my Newfypoo today, exactly the same demeanor. The only difference he decided it was a play time when I was using the hair dryer, he was trying to bite a piece of it.
I have 2 Newfs that come in every 8 weeks. They take me 5 hours. Depending on season. Insane amount of work. Only dogs of the day.😊
Being from Newfoundland, I love these dogs - they are fantastic swimmers and have saved many lives over the years :)
They're great working dogs down here, too! My grandfather had four. Two Great Pyrenees and two Newfoundlands. They saved his livestock so many times. And us grandkids more than once or twice, too. I still miss them.
If Newfies can be said to have a fault, it is that they might insist on rescuing you from the water whether you need to be rescued or not! I have seen training competitions taking place in the Mediterranean in Europe where they train Newfies and other dogs to jump out of helicopters to rescue swimmers!
A former boss had a three legged Newfie and four sons. They lived on a lake and whenever the boys went swimming they had to lock him in the house or tie him on side away from the water. He would pull them out of the water every time he could get to them. Darling of a dog.
even the ones who did not want to be saved I'm OK dog leave me alone
Oh goodness she's so beautiful! I wanna give her a big hug!
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
Years ago, police warned people because some children had seen a bear near the town where I lived. When police tried to find that bear, they couldn't find any track of it. And then a dog owner realised that she was walking her Newfoundland dog without leash around same time in the same area. :D
I was thinking if Sadie stood on her back legs she could be mistaken for big foot.
Thats hilarious 😂!
So silly, what would she do if they pulled up in a secured vehicle, loaded her dog up. Walk it on a leash.
My brother's friend brought his Newfoundland over one day. I knew his breed but when I looked out in the yard I would have bet anything that I was looking at a black bear walking around. I can absolutely understand people getting them confused if they can't see the animal's face!
I was babysitting a friends Newfoundland for a long weekend while he was out of town. Imagine my surprise when animal control showed up at my place asking if I had seen a black bear that was reported at my place by the neighbors!
*The peaceful expression in Sadie's eyes suggests a serene spirit that understands that life can be unpredictable and sometimes you just have to go with the flow*
And rubs, hugs, cuddles, and snuggles
Well, they are water dogs 😁

Thanks for doing this for pet owners (and their pets) who can't afford it. You truly are making a difference.
Plus, grooming is very expensive for dogs that large. She’s really doing a service to these owners of gargantuan dogs like Sadie.
@@maryellenthompson8261lol, "gargantuan."
But why people keep such dogs,if they can't afford their maintenance
@@Surya-bz2mwits not all about the money. I know a lot of people have connections with certain dog breeds. Yes there are other dog breeds that are a lot more easy to maintain, but its all about what the owner wants and what is good for the dog. If the dog is happy, thats what matters, not the money. And a lot of people that own these dogs are aware of the maintenance it takes.
@@Surya-bz2mwI'd agree you shouldn't get a dog if you're not ready to pay their vet/grooming/etc bills, but the unfortunate fact is that sometimes situations change, whether that be job loss or (in the US especially) a medical issue arising.

Honestly I don't think I've ever seen an adult Newfie "run" unless there's some kind of emergency. 😂 They are just that chill, "why worry, why hurry?" Dr. Mike has a puppy and it still doesn't zoom more than it lays around.
It's a Newfoundland. They don't run. They actually make great apartment dogs because they're so lazy. They are excellent swimmers if you get them into water - the colder, the better.
It's summer. Newfies have more energy in winter when that thick coat is a help, not a hindrance.
Also 8 is fairly old for Newfies sadly
8 years old means shes already a senior
The Newfie is definitely one of my top 3 favorite dog breeds. The term "gentle giant" describes them better than almost any other dog breed out there. They are just the sweetest temperament... so huggable, affectionate, loving, gentle and always the best boy in the room. Sadie is a shining example of her breed. You know, in a way every Labrador is a Newfoundland Labrador mix. While The Newfoundland already existed on the island when Europeans came here some 530 years ago. Nobody knows how they got here but there is speculation the Vikings brought them in 1000ad when they tried to settle here. It's also possible The Irish were responsible. it's possible they arrived here even earlier. In any event, the Newfoundland was recognized as a great asset to small boat fishermen from hundreds of years ago. Problem was, at often over 150lbs getting a wet one back over the side of a tiny boat was a challenge. Due to this, locals decided to try to create a condensed version of The Newfoundland. Using select Newfoundland's they bred (a now extinct), dog called The St. John's Water Dog.
The result was a smaller and lighter animal with the same exceptional water abilities of the Newfoundland. This new Dog was known as The Lessor Newfoundland for many, many years. In the 1800's, a British naval officer stationed in Newfoundland thought the new dog would be very popular back home with sportsmen. He rechristened The Lessor Newfoundland The Labrador Retreiver because he thought that the name Labrador would sound exotic to people in The UK.
The Newfoundland is also responsible for the existence of several other very popular breeds. Their story is fascinating.
Thank you! Very interesting. They're wonderful babies! ❤️ Although I got Nero for my mom he turned out to be mine. But she fell in love w Newfies bc of him too!
I can't believe she's 8. Big dogs have short lifespans but she still looks great! Thanks for showing us what a big sweetheart she is. ❤️
My newf lived til 13 🥰 he was the sweetest boy to the end ❤
Yes, but she would be better off 20lbs lighter. Her hips wont last much longer.
It's one of natures or god depending on your outlook, cruelest joke that dogs are on earth for such a small time.
But to make that fact bearable you should remember that dogs feel time ~25% slower than us, so they get decades with us. It's the reason for that classic "Ive just been away for an hour calm down"
The glamour shot with Sadie's fur swaying in the breeze at the end was MAJESTIC.
What a beautiful dog, with a matching personality!
Growing up in the country like us all our neighbours had dogs and one of them had a Newfie… you couldn’t find a more laid back or relaxed dog unless there was a bear nearby henceforth her name(Bear) as she showed absolutely no fear charging black and grizzly bears and she never once got injured. After chasing a bear she would go from aggressive, powerful and menacing to sweet and friendly and laid back once the danger was over.
Biggest issue as already stated her fur had never been brushed but was never badly matted which was surprising and secondly the buckets of slobber she would release hourly. You always knew where she had laid due to the big glob of slobber on the ground.
Are they slobbery due to their size and need to cool down?
Yes they are a slobbery doggo! So giving them a good face wipe on occasion is needed, and they can get stinky due to the drool. So worth it though

My favourite breed. I've only ever known one, and that was over 20 years ago, but he made such an impression that I've loved them ever since. It belonged to the family of one my friends from school and he was just the most amazing creature. Sweet and huggable of course, but we also used to wrestle him, and he'd even let us win. They're obviously known as gentle giants, and they're also affectionate, loyal, intelligent, and brave. Literally everything you could ever ask for in a dog. Gone but not forgotten, Samson
Our Newfie Honor (RIP), loved to play "the most frightening game in the world." She'd only do it with me, because I am a big guy. She never tried with my wife, who is tiny, or with anyone else.
But if you go into the backyard with her at night, with the light off, she'd run past you like you were a Matador, only veering away at the last moment. And she'd make these horrific Hound of the Baskervilles noises that were terrifying.
And because she was black, and it was pitch black outside, you couldn't even see her. You could just hear her, feel the ground shake, and then feel the substantial gust of wind from her passing by you. Terrifying.
And when you're done with the game, you just put your palm out, and she stops and licks it. It was exhilarating though. Only the fact I knew she wouldn't hurt me kept me from being frozen in fear.

Newfs are maritime rescue dogs. They have coats that allow them to swim in the frigid North Atlantic to rescue sailors. They have webbed feat (not kidding) to help them swim powerfully. There are so many stories of families with swimming pools whose Newfs instinctively leap in to rescue children whenever they jump into the pool. They are incredibly sweet and gentle and loyal to their families. They are not good guard dogs because they are just too friendly. I would love to have one, but I live in a climate that is way too hot for them. Sadie is beautiful and incredibly sweet-a typical Newfoundland.

I grew up with newfies. 2 coats, basically a waterproof outer and an insulating down inner. The running joke was the only way they would ever stop a home invasion is if the robber trips over them on the way in. Did have one that HATED horses and saw a horse drawn carriage a few blocks down. She let out her lowest, loudest barks and a group of about 20 people walking toward us jumped and crossed the street.
I met a mom with her 10 puppies, and she was sooo gentle and like "just do with them as you want" its one of the most gentle breeds on earth
Newfies were bred for water rescues. Their job is to be gentle but enthusiastic.
As a very large person who pants out of breath a lot, I find myself wondering if the Newfies are calm because it just takes too much effort to bother with the small stuff. Save energy for play, saving drowning people, hauling fishing nets, and chasing bears away!
I’m so glad Ace is doing well! What a blessing! And congrats for realize you have limits! Good job!
First family dogs I had as a child were newfoundlands. The drool and fur are no joke, but they are such wonderful sweet dogs that I still want to get one when I have the space ❤
Do they run a lot?
...when I have the space... Like the State of Rhode Island?
@@lisakaz35they are fairly lazy
The work to keep a Newfie looking good is phenomenal Backbreaking. But they are the best dogs Loving gentle and loyal. Keeping the house clean is also an issue The won’t do well in warm climates. Lived in NYS when we had our girl. She wanted the cool cellar in the summer and would lay out in snow and ice during the winter.
The beach is where they love to be! Water is their great love! The other hard thing about Newfs is their lifespan.....Sadie is very old for this breed. It's one of the "heartbreak breeds".
A next door neighbour had a Newfoundland called Ted. He was a gentle giant. It was lovely to see how gentle he was with her little boy. I love your channel.❤
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
"Sweetness of temperament is the hallmark of the Newfoundland; this is the most important single characteristic of the breed." from the AKC Breed Standard. Newfies are just great dogs. One of the few downsides to having a Newfoundland dog as a family member is the amount of grooming that is needed, but they make up for that in so many other ways.
I can see one more thing on that list
They eat like Thers no tomorrow 😂😂
Other than that they're great dogs
My uncle had one and it was the laziest dog you could ever want
But if you or any of the family members would have a problem Tinka would be there Pronto
So yeah fuckin amazing dogs if you ask me
Just saying 🇧🇻
I guess the same goes for St Bernards.
Our former neighbours had one.
He thought he was a tiny dog.
Jumping into his daddy's lap, he actually broke the sofa !
And it wasn't made by IKEA...
🛋 🐕 🤣
I still have unresolved guilt of never being quite caught up getting our newf Jake fully groomed :P Not as large and hairy as this fella but we couldn't afford professional services back then but was an incredible improvement from situation we rescued him from :)
They don't fit through hallways sometimes
Gosh! I am totally in awe. Sadie was so chill throughout the entire process, and without drool to boot. The way Vanessa pushed and pushed and she just moved as if to say, 'Say please' made me chuckle.
I couldn't help but notice her breathing was reminiscent of a small steam engine huffing. And she really just seemed so chill with the whole affair. Amazing animal, I must say.
I was thinking the same thing!
The wetness help her cool down.
They are so warm .. so so warm
I was going to mention that!
Newfies are the best.
Greatest dogs on earth
When my stepdaughters were 5 and 2, we were just wasting time in a pet store, and a man came in with the biggest dog I've ever seen in my life.. a 2 1/2 year old male Newfi. He proceeded to lay down in the middle of the store, and my stepdaughters just looked at the dog with the biggest smiles on their faces.. They looked up at the man, and at the dog, and he just said.. "ya you can play with him.. he loves kids". My girls were all over that dog and all 3 of them (the girls and the dog) were in heaven for about 10 minutes. The owner and I just watched and laughed... it was a great show. After we left and we driving home, the girls couldn't stop talking about him. Newfis are amazing.. probably the best family dog ever... as long as they don't roll over you.
Its the source for the term "nanny dog" .. they will protect kids.
If uve never seen an agressive newfie, wait until u see them with kids when something bad happens.
Then it doesnt look like a newfiew.. but a ferocious bear with huge teeth putting itself between kids and danger.
I experienced this with my dog .. he has no training whatsoverever related to this.
Their cousins Saint Bernards are the same way.
If we die bc of them laying on us, we die.
@@frosty6960in the Peter Pan book, Nana the dog was a Newfoundland, animated movie just changed her to St Bernard.

Sadie is adorable! Her panting makes her sound like a locomotive.
Definitely. I was reminded of a chuffing steam engine.
Vanessa will acquire back problems, knee pain and carpel tunnel syndrome long before shampoo chemicals get her.
@@charlesfranks1902 watch?v=gcUYtaMQCdY
Exactly. Just like the old steam locomotives. Going really slow with a bunch of cars behind it. What an incredibly huge dog with a heart of gold.
@@katie195hope not but she probably needs to not work alone w.the big dogs. And she should do physical therapy, Pilate's or yoga. Actually being so active shes probably at less risk than most of people
Thanks!
Sadie's like a mellow, fluffy, black cloud 🥰🥰🥰
Ah, noofs. An endless wellspring of love. And slobber. But mostly love.
I love those eyes, so gentle, peaceful and innocent, like she'e just wishing for everyone to be loved and happy
They are so chill it's amazing. Nothing flusters them.
It makes me so happy that you've cultivated a generous community that allows you to help the dogs and owners that truly need the help and at NO COST. You're an absolute Angel and so are all the contributors to your channel(:

I feel like part of the charm of Newfoundland dogs is their perpetually sad/disappointed eyes. She just kept looking at Vanessa like, "I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed in your choices."
😂😂
HAHA! Best comment!! Sadie does look sad & disappointed. (Thanks for the giggle!) She's so beautiful!
LMAO
LOLOLOL
I have watched your videos from the alligator snapping turtle through shepherds and giants.
YOU are an amazing groomer! Your videos are entertaining, and relaxing for an old grammy. I love how you love the dogs. ❤
I had a 220 lb Newfie years ago but never saw how they groomed him. I know they planned ahead and had several people including one husband there to handle him. Big gentle loving giants and watching this made me smile and tear up .
Don't know what is more amazing: Sadie's chill, Vanessa's endurance, or the air flow on that dryer. I have a Goldie and she takes 4 towels to dry her enough for my blower to move a single floof!
She uses what’s basically a shamwow before blow drying.
Yet another Level 5 Furnado! Thank you, Sadie, for being so well behaved, and thank you, Vanessa, for being so patient, caring and awesome with Sadie, and all the furbabies you get to work with!
What a frickin gorgeous dog 😍 The wall of fur and the little tongue just sticking out even persuades this cat lover. Great vid.
She looks like a bear with the happy hoodie. So cute 🐻
Yes, she looked Just like a bear during the blow dry... LOL
And during the intro in the backyard. 😃
Sadie is just one fluffy huggable giant pillow .. even when she moves in real time, it looks as though she glided in slo-mo. Dang, she breathes like a well-oiled machine. Sadie is just adorable. And I’m in awe, Vanessa, on your patience with our furry friends. This video alone has 2million views. I guess UA-cam has you well covered

" Thanks to my viewers, I can groom big black bears for free" 😊 ❤ Love you Vanessa.
Sadie is a sweetheart. Great grooming job!
Many years ago a lady we used to deliver dog food to had a stunning Newfoundland called "Oscar", he was absolutely giant even for a Newfoundland size. He was a most gentle of dog. He used to walk out to the van stand in the open back doors rock the van and then pick out what treat he wanted. Fantastic dog. I and many others will always remember him.
Just the other day our Great Pyrenees started chasing what I thought was a neighbors Newfoundland that came up our driveway. As I got up to grab my dog the “Newfoundland” suddenly started climbing straight up a fir tree! Only then did I know it was actually a black bear! 😂
Leave it to a Pyr to go after a bear, without any apprehension, while still being gentle enough to trust with lambs and small children.(The little ones love feeding my Pyr Cheerios. My pup takes them ever so delicately, despite having teeth bigger than the child's fingers.)
Oh my gosh.
I got a pyr mix as my fitst dog... BIG mistake 😂 love her so much though. Despite her being stubborn as a rock
@@lakibramble They eventually listen but they make it seem like it was their idea. I have a Pyr Akbash mix and he is that way.
😊
Delivering pizza, dark night, walking to front door going by open garage door, black cave. Saw movement coming out of the dark about 3.5 feet above ground level. A face appeared sliding slowly out of the dark, looking like an intelligent black furry alien. I pushed my heart back down into my chest and realized it was a Newfie:) My first encounter with this magnificent breed and we became long time friends:) These are large dogs and this one was huge for the breed.
Your a truly amazing soul, my pets are my kids and great them as my having and always will.. animals know when your a good person and that's why you're so amazing with them. Thank you for your kindness are sharing this helps be heal from being sick
So glad Ace is happy and healthier now that his surgery is over.
Agreed! I was very happy to hear the update!
Now that I know the grooms are free, I make sure I like the vids and let the ads run. I hope that helps you and the animals. You're doing a wonderful thing.
Vanessa does them for free because she makes bank on her main channel. Her video views pay the bills.
@@Dynamatrix2000they are aware, that's why they made the comment they did
FYI, if you can afford youtube premium, it gives the creators a LOT more that an ad-view does.
We have 2 Newfoundlands who come to our daycare. One of them, Geoffrey, could easily be mistaken as a black bear, and his fur isn't floofy but long and sleek and even naturally parts on the top of his head, so on windy days like today he'll hold his nose up to the wind and let his hair just blow in the wind lol😂.
Sounds like a handsome fellow!
She is just beautiful!! When you were blow drying her in slo-mo, she looked like she was a romance novel covergirl!! I'm addicted to your videos and LOVE, LOVE ALL of the dogs!!!❤❤
Just a suggestion; have the owners take Sadie down a boat into the lake and swim for an hour before the appointment. Then she'll be adequately wet for the groom
I was thinking the same thing: need a river rapids to get into that coat.
Soaking wet She’s going to weigh 185 lbs and that wet dog smell in the car for weeks…😂
I think a 2.5" line off of a fire truck might be required, lol.
...and let her pull a boat. Mine could. I loved that dog.
Make sure the lake is clean.
I love that you do the grooming for free. I think other people in your position would've used their presence and popularity online to increase their fees and here you are eliminating them. You are amazing ❤
Vanessa, you are an angel and I'm grateful you are here for these dogs.
Thanks! You’re AWESOME!!
A true Canadian dog. Never aggressive.
That was a phenomenal groom. As someone who does senior dogs, it is so nice to see someone else who respects their need to sit, rest, lay down, and keep a low table. Great job!!!
I have a couple Newfies at my work, and while none of them are even remotely aggressive, there is one that is most certainly NOT gentle. He is a 180-pound wrecking ball on 4 legs. He has no concern over whatever dog or person he knocks over while he’s running around, and he ALWAYS wants to play, whether the other dogs want to or not. That makes him quite the troublemaker, but I’m hoping once he’s a little older he’ll calm down a bit. And of course, I still love him 💚
I have a 7 yr old male that is the 30% spazz. He hasn't grown out of it
I call my Grandpup Willow the black Newfie a "Bull in a China Shop" she will knock you out of the way but be as sweet as can be otherwise.
Wow is she chill! What a sweetheart ❤
The beachouse next to my parents summer rental had a Newfoundland named Sonny. He was this beautiful black beast of a dog who loved the ocean. He would wait at our back door for me in the morning bc he loved little kids. He made those summers magical for me❤
Newfies are like the Eeyores of the doggie universe. Sweet and happy just to be noticed Sadie is gorgeous even before her groom but a rockstar after! Thanks for the update on Ace. So good to hear he's doing well
I had a Newfie named Max. Best dog I ever had. Just the sweetest boy in the world. The neighborhood kids would come to my door and ask if Max could come out. Then he would lay in the grass while they climbed all over him and he loved every minute. Yeah, the fur and the drool was a constant cleaning project but he was worth every minute. I'll never forget you Maxie boy.
Omg I love that dog! I think newfoundlands just made my list of dogs I'd love to own. I'm not even a dog person, really, but I just wanna snuggle that beauty! Gorgeous!
On another note, I'm so glad I found your videos! You make it so easy to support your free grooms by just watching and sharing your videos.
Newfies have the most protective natures, not as aggressive defenders but as Nannies. Gorgeous creatures. ❤
Do you remember the kids story "Peter Pan"? check out the dog they had. thats right, a Newf !!!
Sadie is gorgeous and so laid-back :) One of my neighbours when I was a kid used to have a Newfie and it was the sweetest but she had this habit of sitting next and then slowly leeeaaanning in to you. I was toppled over and ended up in a giggling heap under this hound more than once :)
My aunt has a St. Bernard that does the same leaning trick. Junebug loves squishing people!
I wish I could go back in time and thank the people that bred this dog - those people did good and we're all blessed for it. Thanks, Girl With The Dogs, for sharing these wholesome experiences and creating quality videos.
They did it mostly for pragmatic reasons, this is technically a working breed
The Fishermen off of Newfoundland, Canada in the very North Atlantic breed the dogs to help pull the fish nets into the boats and the shore. The dogs needed the heavy double coats to keep from getting wet. Their personalities are just a bonus!
