- 👉 Join me as we take a look at @ANBERNIC's RG28XX, a 2.8" Linux powered handheld and a return to this form for Anbernic. In many ways, this is the successor to the RG280M and RG280V, which brings more power, a higher resolution screen, and an even more compact design. This handheld is powered by the Allwinner H700 like many of Anbernic's recent budget devices. Please join me as we go very in-depth and examine Anbernic's return to the 2.8" handheld size as we unbox, teardown, and check out some emulation with multiple platforms.

What's your favorite mini handheld? Share here! 🧡💜
I dont know yet 😭 had the mm+, rg35xx & rg35xx h. But sold them because i realized i want something even more pocketable. Now i am waiting for the gkd pixel and rg28xx. Probably also gonna try the mm v4 when they restock 😅
Trimui Smart Pro and Trimui Model S.
Haha, the small handhelds are a lot of fun!
The TrimUI Smart Pro is so good for the price!
@@retrotechdad Yeah I meant to say Trimui Smart. Doh!!! 😣
The intro with the RG28XX inside the PSX was so awesome. Great video dude! 👍🏻
Haha, I’m glad you liked the intro! 🙏🙏
Finally, someone comparing to the GB Micro thank youu
It was the first device I thought of when seeing the 28XX! 🤗
What a detailed review. I am impressed :) definitly put you on my list of retro reviewers worth watching!
Aww, thank you so much. I really appreciate your kind words and welcome to the channel! 🙏🙏
Great review! It's awesome to see how many things we agree on with this little guy.
Great intro my guy and great video too!
Thanks dad always enjoy your vids
Oh I forgot to say thanks for the review, Dad. I loved seeing the teardown part.
Thank you for the support, Crystal! 🙏
I used to LOVE my gb micro and played it a bit more than my ds when I was a kid. I loved how tiny it was. I still have it at my parents house. I need to remember to dig it out next time I visit them
Cosmic smash looks really fun! =D excited about this device. I love the form factor and the aesthetics so much.
Cosmic Smash is one of my favorite DC imports! It's such a visually appealing game, love showing it off! 🔥
You managed to make me crack up laughing twice in one video. Well done Dad. 😀
😅 The Shem segment is my favorite.
영상 색감 분위기가 넘 예쁘네요👍🏼
Thank you so much for your kind words! 🙏🤗
Great video especially for the teardown, do you know what the maximum size SD card is that you can use for an sd card in the second SD slot?
my 280m stays my 2.8in device of choice.
I think the 280M gets legendary status, plus the gradient is one of my favorite colors ever!
Good info on putting the second card into the device before using it so that folders can be added automatically, as I've been wondering how the cards work,...especially given there's no sticker over the internal card like on the 280's.
I'm glad it was useful, I don't think there are any specific instructions for this anywhere either!
As some who’s Micro is their prized possession it is very interesting to think about how much has changed since its release. If Nintendo released today for about $100 I guarantee it would do crazy numbers especially since it seems to be the inspiration for so many emulators nowadays.
It really is interesting to think about and how things have changed since then!
Ha! The slowdown demo had me laughing.
Yea, it’s pretty rough 😅
One of the best review. Even better than Onion are gross
Wow, thank you for the kind comment! 🙏
I'd like to know what the orange one looks like with black buttons.
Do you know if the battery is glued to the back? I want the transparent model but am afraid of seeing the glue through the case.
I think this system will be my trimui smart replacement. Just need to figure out what color to get.
I really love the beige white with the lavender buttons! 💜🤍
What's todays possibility with custom os? MuOS or Minimal, do they work on this device? Thanks alot.
how does size compare to the dingoo a320?
hey! the background music at the very end (around 39:20) triggered a core memory but i cant put my finger on it. PLEASE HELP
Retro dad, I have some light bleed with my unit and Anbernic has offered to send me a new screen but I don't know how to remove the screen itself, I can get as far as where you did in the tear down, but do you have any idea how the screen is removed?
It’s most likely held down with some adhesive. If you’re careful, it should loosen with a little bit of movement. You can also use a hair dryer on low heat to soften the adhesive.
@@retrotechdad Thanks Retro Dad!
This device isn't for me but great video nevertheless 😎
Thank you Cho! 🙏❤️
It uses mini or micro HDMI cable?
It uses a mini HDMI 🙏
Mini or micro HDMI
It uses a mini HDMI 🙏
@@retrotechdad ok but why when plugin the HDMI cable, no sound? Even when i try to use earphone
It's a cool device but I hate the L1 and R1 placement. I don't know why they made them so flat so playing games like Tony Hawk is a pain in the ass. Also PSP sucks but everything else plays pretty good. Cool for taking on the go to kill some time.
imo very uncomfortable ports layout..
The dpad is awful. I'm sorry but I completely disagree. It's so stiff it's a detriment to fighting games. I replaced mine with a Gameboy color dpad and membrane. I had to slightly Dremel the front casing to make sufficient room for it but now it's perfect
I found it very solid with the two units I have. The mod sounds cool though! 🙏
L🧡ve the video and teardown, and most of all being honest on the review. I got my lava Creamsicle today and love it. Some of the sports games is sluggish and it skips frames but I get it but keep up the good work dad happy gaming.🧡🤍🖤
Thank you, I really appreciate that! 🧡🤍 Yea, I think it's important to provide the information so one can temper expectations. Certain platforms can be done but they definitely have their limitations.
Exactly and I totally agreed what you stated regarding every handheld is not perfect, but we can work around it to improve it to get better and better. I must say this you have the most awesome videos. Keep up the fantastic work and I’m so happy every Monday you’re on stubs live channel. All of you guys are great please don’t disappear on us. Any hoot happy gaming.🕹️🧡🤍🧡
