They wear down rather fast though lol. I had one of the earlier models and it didn't last past 2 months. Games were hanging after launching or playing after about 2 minutes
I love buying these cheapos after you review them. I don't really compare them to each other. I just appreciate them for whatever they're capable of. Another good one, sir. More, please.
Nice to see some quality-of-life improvements over what you expect from that price range: the ability to save, the multiple platforms, the shoulder buttons. Definitely seems like you found a bargain, Wicked!
.. so the difference between the GB300 and this PLUS-version is that the PLUS now uses 18650 form factor batteries instead of the BL-5C nokia batteries, right ? They didn't even change the information on the box, there it still says 800mah which is / was the capacity of the BL-5C clone they use in the GB300 ... changing to 18650 is a good idea, but i still think the SF2000 is a better offer below 20,- bucks.
the main problem with these is the display which is meant to be used for vertically oriented devices, so by using it in horizontal orientation brings that viewing angle difference in color between left and right eye. Far more managable and less strain on eyes when vertical.
Thank you for your videos. I trust you over all other UA-camrs when it comes to product reviews. My sister got me a PlayStation Classic for Christmas, and I watched your video on the GameBox "naughty stick". I ordered one, and I'm having a lot of fun with it right now. Next, I want to pick up a handheld for the times when I'm on the train and need to kill time.
This is basically the $5 Famiclone everyone knows and sees everywhere shaped like the GameBoy, but now it's an SF-2000 clone with an Xbox One d-pad. I don't care if people clone the SF-2000, but... the reason why the SF-2000 is worth getting at all is specifically because of its SNES design and feel. JUST WHAT ARE THOSE GB-300 SHOULDER BUTTONS??
The Xbox One d-pad is nice, but I feel overall with similar performance, the SF-2000 is just the clear winner between it and the GB-300. And I'm someone who prefers vertical, GameBoy styled handhelds.
Haven't left a comment on your channel for a while. Just wanna let you know these videos keep me entertained during trying times and also, I just bought one of these because if your review. I love these cheaper handhelds. My powkiddy q90 still works for example.
Finally, they were able to make something cheaper that can play more than just NES/Famicom games. I bought a blue "Supboy" before that only plays those and treated it as a kind of an introduction to retro games to my kid. Still works... Defintely gonna buy this "upgrade" thanks for the post!
I got it because of you and I must admit that 80 % of the games are playable and I discovered some gems and now can have the classic I love. YET ! I can't manage to get it working on my TV with AV which is a bummer for my old eyes and I wonder what I'm doing wrong (?).
In case anyone wonders (not really), the cpu is again the same old HCSEMI B210, 32bit MIPS junk media soc . Not sure why they are still sanding it, people know how to find out. Some guys are moving screens from sf2000 into this, it works just fine. While addition of PCE is nice, the omission of FBA for arcade is a shame as sf2000 is running a lot of arcade games very well. I would probably sacrifice the crappy gba for the FBA instead.
I just got mine a few days ago and I love it, I been playing the game boy Mario games the Mario 6 golden coins in the original black and white version and in the color version also been playing the Mario deluxe or All Stars game. It don't play Gameboy advance games well but I got it to play what I mentioned because I haven't played those in years and I miss them. Im probably going to order another one when they get the red ones in I had to get the boring black one the reds sold out. Idk why they didn't have more color choices but happy I got one at all. I have started a collection of these you never know when they will stop selling them on their own or when Nintendo has had enough and demands they stop selling them. It' been fun playing those and I'm wanting to get that little TV one and the x7 one think it's going for 15.00 now they were 30 to 40 dollars
Not a bad little system. Plays pretty much everything up to GBA. The screen isn't the best. You can see some framerate issues in some games with some screen tearing at times. If you are looking to put your own games on the micro SD, you need to make a ROMS folder and place your roms in there. If you wish to utilize save states on your added roms, make a folder called SAVE in the ROMS folder. Placing your own roms in the game folders will not add them, and removing the built in games doesn't seem to remove them from the menu.
@@WickedGamerCollector I just got it in the mail. THIS DEVICE IS AMAZING (for the price). I'm trying to figure out the file type for the ROMs because the file extensions start with "z" which I presume are supposed to be container files that have the game ROMs and thumbnail images that appear in the menu (edit: I found a tutorial video about the SF2000 handheld which uses similar files). The device physically feels like it's of good quality. I do agree that the GBA emulation is not very good. If they couldn't get it to work properly, they should have not bothered to include it. I might just delete the GBA ROMs from it altogether and forget all about playing those games on it. Screen tearing is also an issue for many of the emulators. But I'd say that the positives far outweigh the negatives. The scaling for the NES games is done quite nicely and I appreciate that each game has a graphical preview. Having save states is also a great feature, especially for what is supposed to be a low budget device like this. And the search feature is also really helpful.
@@WickedGamerCollector I also figured out a few things about the device. You should really only add supported roms in the /ROMS folder (you have to create it). A cool surprise is that you can add Sega Master System ROMs (.sms files) to that folder, which is not part of the 7 systems that are seen on the main screen. So with that, the GB300 supports 8 systems (albeit, the GBA doesn't really work very well).
I added Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! NES ROM to the /ROMS folder (because I'd rather play that than the non-Mike Tyson Punch-Out!! that comes with the GB300) and I spent much of Saturday morning playing it with my son while it was connected to the TV. I used the longer AV cable that came with my Revo K101 because the one that comes with the GB300 is fairly short. I'd say that the video-out works pretty good. I think for $18 Canadian dollars, I'd say I've gotten a lot of entertainment value from this device.

Did you try putting the SD Card from this device into the Data Frog SF 2000? It looks like the same device, just in a vertical form factor. Plus, it has the same catchy tune when scrolling thru the different menu's and it looks like the same front end theme.

Update: got mine today & have figured out 4 things 1. Make a folder on the SD card called ROMS (All caps) & put roms in there 2. You can play Master System roms putting them in the ROMS folder 3. You can't save with any games in the ROMS folder, only games that come stock on the sd card 4. It IS running the same OS as the Data Frog SF2000, but swapping the cards doesn't work (I've tried)

The SF2000 is higher quality since it lasts way more, these cheap sup consoles barely last half a year
