It is truly unbelievable considering Nasu's doubts in the past and the overall situation of VNs and Type-Moon but i can say the reemergence is finally happening for real for all of us. Of course the quality of localizations is severely lacking, especially when crucial context missing (like for many hints in Japanese text of FGO General Main Story details for example, or characterization for other works), but the fact that we waited for so long makes it good enough you can say, since we still have passionate fan-translations like Tsukihimates team.
It truly is! After years of things being uncertain it's so great to see TM put their heart and soul into these projects. There is an endless amount of possibilities now with everything that has been mentioned and alluded to recently! (Girls work being apart of the TM Ace Timeline) Delivering on old promises, making new one's or making old projects availble to a wider audience, who knows what's ahead of us now? The quality of localization is the one thing I'm sceptical of. I heard Mahoyo's wasn't the best in terms of translation, I felt it read pretty well, but it is a shame to know there was context being left out. Having a dedicated group of fans though is amazing!
As someone who hasn't read the remake yet (mostly cause I'm an amateur when it comes to modding) I am so looking forward to read the official translation coming next year. I'm very curious and exited to see how Ciel's route in the remake is improved upon.
Im glad there's now a review that compares the OG and new as someone who only read the OG. Looking forward to Ciel, who basically had a 'discount Arc route' in the original
Glad I could provide that! I remember being pretty underwhelmed by Ciel's in the OG, but here, her route can get pretty insane and probably has some of my personal favorite moments in Tsukihime as a whole.
Ok so I looked at my older comments and I mentioned how I would surprised if this doesn’t get an A rating because of the arcueid scene, oh how ignorant I was to Noel’s character, my good lord in heaven. The things she says, I was surprised, to say the least.
A great review. Thanks for that. It's good there are plenty of fans that are satisfied with the result. I have my personal issues with the remake that make me conflicted (as an arc fan who was waiting for an actual revamp of the whole story for 17 years not just ciels route in addition to the things removed...), but it's clear to see the remake offers something to the modern tm fan that is wholly different from the original with atleast one route. I hope red garden comes out sooner rather than later
Thanks, I'm glad enjoyed it! Yeah, I do see where some problems can come up, especially for fans who waited for such a long time. Personally I think Arc's is a really good introduction to the world in general and there is enough new to freshen it up, but I do see where you're coming from. Both stand strong in their own right, and it's kind of neat that the remake won't completely make the original obsolete. Same here, I can't wait to see what's in store!
@@NeNeiSan I am wondering for red garden about sacchins route. It's the one major thing we will be in the dark about. With the other routes there is atleast something to expect
@@ShizukiShirano I dunno. All of nasus statements people point to about this seem very vague and copium ish. I am just not willing to expect something and be disappointed after waiting however long again
@@MrInuhanyou123 There have been a few, although vague hints in the remake and MBTL towards her route. It could go anywhere in terms of story, who appears, and how it adds on to prominent ideas. There is some speculation to be had, I just hope there is some information on Red Garden sometime soon!
I empathize. There is so many series I want to start or pick back up but not enough time to get to all of them. There has been so many anime that look interesting or got sequel seasons and I've just been distracted with VNs.
Something I’ve thought about, Tsukihime will definitely get an A rating, the scene that comes to mind is when Shiki first meets arcueid, that scene alone, I’ll be dumbfounded if it’s not an A.
The detail in that scene was brutal, but the M or 18 rating can stretch pretty far. There a lot of games that have far worse while still staying clear of the A rating. It also helps that a lot of the original's more "depraved" themes are cut or toned down. Funnily enough, on the topic of ratings, Witch on the Holy Night has an ESRB rating of M even though the story itself is very tame.
@@NeNeiSan yeah I guess your right, the last of us part 2 has a less scene in it, and it’s M rated 🫤, gosh darn it may get an M rating, but still hoping for A case of the talk of unaliving arcueid in great detail, not sure of the rest though those are the only scenes I’m aware of. yea I agree with you on witch on on the holy night, it’s not that bad, (spoilers for witch on the holy night) I guess the cat in the engine and soujuro getting cut in half pushed it maybe?
We'll find out sooner or later. I don't think any other CGs come close to that level of disturbing detail, but some other aspects may be looked at. Yeah, that Sojyuro scene is probably what led to it. That completely slipped my mind.
I have never played the original or this remake, but as someone who loves Fate and has always been intersted in the other Type Moon works- this video was really interesting and got me wanting to play/read Tsukihime! Now if I do, do I start with the original or the remake, hmmm....
If you're going to eventually try out both, I would say start with the original for a few reasons: The remake's routes are double to triple the length of their OG counterpart so you'll be getting more content as you move on. Doing so, you will also notice how some parts of the story is rewritten leading to added interest. Only 2/5 of the original routes have been remade, which are (hopefully) coming in the next couple of years. So playing through the original first will give you a more 'complete' experience. They are products of their time and I think you'll appreciate seeing how far the writing and production style has changed and evolved over the years. It's nice since the remake doesn't made the original obselete, there is enough changes in story and style that carries the 'essence' of Tsukihime but still feels fresh between the two. Both are really worth checking out once you get the chance!
That would be cool! Something like a "Type-Moon Classics" collection with OG Tsukihime, Fate/Stay Night, and Fate/ Hollow Ataraxia all officially translated. It's a pipe dream, but then again, so was the remake.
Still makes me sad that i just (physically) cant support the official releases (cus of restrictions), i want to but most (if not all, besides the PC platform) ways are kinda blocked for me at the moment. Support it if you can guys, it may be copium now but it maybe will come handy in the future.
@@AngeVNs Yep, hopefully it will be a trend and back to form for Type-Moon, at least after console release (hopefully they will not block it in my country again like F/SR).

I am new to the fandom by the way and let me just say pleasure to be part of this now even though I only just finished the remake
Welcome, glad to see someone new take a dive into Type-Moon! You can, there may be a few references you won't get and a character that won't make complete sense until Red Garden but nothing spoilery
@@NeNeiSan Okie and thank you so much for your time for responding I heard that Tsukihime was easier to get into since I don’t necessarily need a lot of knowledge on fate to get into it and I’m glad I tried it out because now I love Tsukihime now and really wanted to know where to go from here so thanks for the info and glad to be a part of this fandom now hope you have a great Day
@@k.o.gthekingofgames913 No problem, glad to be of help! It's so glad to hear you loved it, it is just such a heartfelt story and full of life. I would highly reccomend trying out Witch on the Holy Night. It's pacing and story is quite different, but the core that makes you love Tsukihime is still very strong here! And Aoko from the prologue of Tsukihime is one of the main protagonists. One of my favorite stories from Nasu, personally, that overall introduces you to the wider world of Type-Moon flawlessly. A good day to you as well!
You absolutely missed out on what Mario is all about. There’s enough in the remake to understand what’s actually going on with him, you’ve just missed.
Yeah, I went through some parts again, plus with Type Lumina's scenarios it's a lot more clear now! I am still wishing for a narrative conclusion for him though. Hoping he has a role in Satsuki's route where everything comes together and pays off.
It's hard to say, I wouldn't be surprised if Stay Night is revisted in some way, but it probably won't be in VN form. If Nasu is to revisit it, it would most likely be for a Fate Route anime remake. I personally feel Fate/Stay Night has aged quite well. Some of the sprites and CGs may have some odd proportions, but overall the style is still very clean and up to date. Though just imagining how some of the fights would look with Mahoyo/TsukiRE visuals would be amazing!
@@NeNeiSan Well maybe there could be a remake of Fate somewhere down the line and it could get a western release. I mean just a few years ago there weren't any type-moon vns officially localised and now we have one with another on the way so in terms of that, anything is possible.
Considering Fate is their most popular franchise it wouldn't be all too surprising. In fact, it's more surprising they haven't done so yet. TM has been pulling a lot of unexpected moves, so it's very possible!
