Just got a new MacBook Pro and first time to the Touch Bar, was a bit overwhelming, but this video couldn’t be more helpful-super clear, to the point, and covers all the main bases. I feel so up to speed now!
Well presented Gary! You are most definitely thee GO TO Guy when it comes to all things Mac! Thanks for all you do - especially to those of us that have switched to Mac after retirement and a working world wasted in Windows.
I must have searched every google page and finally stumbled across what I needed. Thank you, I did something to my touch bar and did not know how to reset or fix it. Your video was very helpful!
Thank-you, finally found a video showing the potential of the Touch Bar. Just got the M1 MBP and love this feature. Don't know why the critics dislike this feature...maybe they haven't seen your tutorials.
Having spent 42 years working on IBM and Microsoft platforms (wiring boards, punched cards and evolving to DASD and then the MS PC world) finally moving to Apple after retirement, I am amazed at how intuitive, user-friendly, and innovative the OS (iMac, MacBook, iPhone, iPad) are compared to the memorization of the career’s requirements (of course, programming languages not withstanding). If Apple’s business model had also included competing with price, there is no telling what the business/personal landscape would appear now. Bottom line: Glad I made the switch.
I never got a Touch Bar Mac, because I heard it was horrible! I’ve been playing with the Touch Bar on my iPad with the extended display, and I love it! I wanna get a second MacBook just for the Touch Bar. I kind of wish Apple could just sell a peripheral of just the Touch Bar, or I wish Applewood enable the Touch Bar on the iPad when connected to the Magic Keyboard.
Wow! Wombats are amazing! Much respect for their flying abilities. I had to go back and make sure I read that correctly. And I thought Marsupials were not highly evolved....... I really like the Touch Bar but I know they get a bad rap. Mine has worked well for me and I enjoy the interface with Photoshop. Another great video macmost!
Stupid question. What are you doing to modify the touch bar? Are you using a mouse or mouse pad, or are you physically touching the touch bar with your finger?
I hope Apple will make a touch-bar for the iMac keyboards in the future... I read an article on some Dutch website. They said that Apple is working on a Wireless Magic keyboard with a touchbar. They have to deal with issues like battery life. Well, I would have my lightning cable ready. A touchbar just seems awesome. One downside is that there are no buttons I can feel. But the combustibility of the touchbar is a huge pro
Thanks Gary! I've had a MBP w/TB for a couple years now and always thought of it as a gimmick. I'm going to try and use your tips to get more use out of it. 😀
YCA >>> "You Constantly Amaze" . . . . . thanks ! / / / / / Unclear why some users do not like the Touch Bar. . . reminds me of Steve Balmer's infamous quote about iPhone. . . ." not good for business use because it doesn't have a keyboard. " . . . . How did that work out for you Steve?
Hey, I have a problem. The control strip is located right above the backspace button. I'd like to keep using it as it's very handy, but I keep accidentally pressing the button over backspace. Is there a way to move the whole thing slightly to the left?
There may be system extensions that you can use to make a change like that, but I don't know of one. I'd advise to try to work with it and you'll eventually train yourself to avoid the mistake.
Can someone please explain to me how to use the media control buttons (Rewind, Play/Pause-Fast, Forward) when watching on Apple TV on the MacBook Pro? I am trying to watch in double speed. When I gently press on the FF button it does so, but when I remove my finger it continues in normal speed. How can I change the playback speed w/out having to keep my finger on the button?
Great job, Gary. Probably the most important point is "practice, practice, practice." Were you a wanna-be music teacher? (just joking) Overall it was important that you mentioned the customizability of the Touch Bar, especially the default/adding/removing.

Had my MacBook Pro for almost a year and am finally learning how to use the touch bar! This is a great video for that, thanks!

Using the Trackpad, mostly. You need to access things on the main screen and drag them. Try it.
thank u so much ! my control strip disappeared & i didnt know why.

Thank you for your efforts. I just want the typing suggestions to work on MS Word and PowerPoint? Can you please help with this issue?
Is Word not using this feature? Maybe Word has its own system?

Hey Gary have you heard of the application called bettertouchtool for the touch bar on the new MacBook Pro 13?
Yes.
7:18 made me laugh way too much
after seeing this i will opt for the pro MacBook
hi gary, thank you
When the Touch Bar starts flashing like a strobe light what do I do?
Call Apple Support.
Be great if they made a touch bar keyboard for a desktop Mac.
It would be tough for battery reasons.
Hey Gary, can I use my Macbook Air while it is charging or does it damage the battery?
Arsalan Khan it doesn’t damage the battery, google about charge cycle on Mac and you will know everything.
Rustless_ Turf Oh K. Thank you 🙏
I'm going to have to find out what folks don't like the touch bar.

Not an improvement for most users, just another complication. This stopped me ordering a new MacBook
