During this time, her videos were really visually interesting; they pushed the boundaries of technology, so the image was really sharp and the colors were vibrant. They've aged very well in terms of image and her singing was at its finest.
She starts this song with her "giggle" cute, very cute. I loved this song came out 21 years ago. Still makes me feel good inside. I love the way she has all of her different personalities on her dance steps, That is Stevie Wonder on the Harp. This was her time in 1992, her voice is just so right for this song. She and Emilio Estevez were married around this time ...maybe the reason for the song. Great Vid & Post Peace 2 ya
Paula's only song that really faded into obscurity, shame cuz it's really beautiful and even has Stevie Wonder on harmonica. VH1 played it like five times in 1992, lol.
+JPMcFly1985Two I think it was her last single from the 'Spellbound' album, by that time, radio didn't give it a chance. That album was played out by that time in 1992.
It peaked at #13 on radio so it was still a hit. I remember seeing the video alot on MTV/VH1...but most definitely a lot less than all her prior videos. The music style changed so fast from early 91 to early-mid 92....So you guys are Right. The song sounded out of place by the time they released it.
Ya for sure. If I hadn’t rediscovered this hit on a Rick Dees top 40 countdown last month (at #5, so a good chart position) I don’t I would have remembered it myself.
Back n May of 92 My Biological Mother got remarried 2 her current husband when I was 10 & 3 quarters old/young & this was Play on the Radio that day & again a couple Days Later!
I was about 14 at the time when Paula Abdul became well known with "Straight up" in around 1989, and I remember noticing how beautiful and sexy I thought she was. I liked this song too back in the early 90s, just watching it again now for the first time in about 20 years, she really looks beautiful. I remember liking her songs "Rush, rush" and "Forever your girl". I also liked her 1991 hit "Blowing kisses in the wind", haven't heard it in about 20 years either, i think I'm gonna pull the UA-cam video of and listen to it for old times sake. I also can't forget "Cold hearted snake", with those older business guys watching her, then after the song her asking them how they liked it, one of them saying "it was very..nice" or something, then seeing words on the screen "the actors' laugh" while hearing laughing in the background. I forgot about that until I saw this video. I hardly ever really saw anything with Paula Abdul again after like the 90s, except for seeing her on American Idol
Thanks to the Jackson family, they plucked her to be their choreographer. I’m pretty sure that inspired her to venture out into other avenues to do her dancing and singing. She was blessed to have that connection and clout
I love the spoken part "think of love as wings, not a ball and chain" and of course the legendary Stevie Wonder on harmonica. Paula had some hits and they kept coming, what an awesome career, she definitely made her mark.
I sang this song to my first love in 1999 at the BLOCKBUSTER store. And to this day I still think of him. Everyone was clapping. Memories love this song so much. Never forgot my first true ❤️
This video was top of the line in 1992. The special effects were amazing but I'm glad they were used to emphasize Paula's amazing dance skills. And if she ask you to marry her back then, you could not say no! Love her to this day! Spellbound is an amazing album (Q Sound mixed btw).
Paula I've always loved you.... Singing Straight up while making pizzas way back when, until I made my husband go to Vegas to see you live... He loved it.... Thank you for your energy and not giving up... Your concert will probably be the last he goes to... Thanks for a wonderful evening...
A light sounding, hopeful end song to "Spellbound". This song may seem stronger because it's included in her number one album. I liked the feeling of the song. Made me wish a girl I liked felt this way towards me. The hope of youth is incredible, but the reality of life becomes heartache. I thought it was "our" beautiful life, but it turns out it's just mine.
Dedicated this to my fiance....we have known each other for 24 years lost touch over time.......we have a connection that seems almost unreal. N she loved this song....n i had tears of joy
She was in a plane crash and hit her head and crash landed in a corn field in Iowa and ended up fracturing her spine and had RSD ( reflex sympathetic dystrophy)it causes chronic pain and she was sidelined from her career for a number of years because she suffered with chronic pain but she returned back onto the scene with Randy Jackson her fellow American Idol judge and recorded a song dance like there's no tomorrow as she performed on American Idol that she's been back at it ever since thank God
She took time off in the mid 90's because she had Bulimia. In that time Madonna reinvented herself, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey became mega stars and fledgling talents like Mary J Blige and Toni Braxton hit the scene. Paula was quickly forgotten about unfortunately because she was out of sight/out of mind. That's just how it goes sometimes.
Man, I don't care nothing about what the hell nobody say, Paula Abdul snapped out on this album Spellbound! I use to listen to this album over and over again when I was a teenager.
Was zusammengehört, fügt sich zusammen!
I really hope when it comes to dance, future generations are watching Paula while they of course watch Michael as reverently as we have watched Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly, she's just that precise and entrancing.
I just realized, Paula dances to a different style in each variation of the white dress. Then at the end, the original Paula is the one that leaves with the man, cuz that's the Paula he fell in love with.
Absolutely Paula's best video. Actually one of the best EVER. This is the difference between a real dancer with instinct and an overly practiced, heavy hooved production. Paula, I'd definitely 'put a ring on it'! Just beautiful.
Paula Abdul was considered hot in the late 80's early 90's. Every guy wanted her. This was when classy people were actually noticed, society has changed people have changed. Even though she's older now like in her 50's she still looks great she hasn't changed one bit.
Paula Abdul is incredibly talented. She's not my favorite artist. However, this is a good song. Great video. She's still one of the best dancers in the world!!!! God be with you Always Paula Abdul.
Love both the other "Paulas" cheering her on at the end as her translucent prince charming carries off and.. As a songwriter i love the unconventional coda (lyrically)
I'm always struck by the peace and loveliness of a brief part that begins at 1:16. Also, mostly in the choruses there's a massively cool wind-instrument sound (but clearly keyboard-generated). A very beautiful song. Thanks Paula for the memories!
When I was younger, I had so many people think I was Paula. In my youth, I looked so much like her. I wore my hair like her, (before she became famous), I wore my makeup like her, I just looked like her. Paula aged beautifully, I did not. Maybe it takes money to age that well, I don’t know. But Paula is still stunningly beautiful. I wish I still looked like her, but I’m just a tired looking gray haired old lady now. God bless you Paula, and thank you for the wonderful music. ✝️🙏🏼❤️
This song does what it says on the tin! Paula Abdul is asking her lover to marry her. It was released just a few weeks before Abdul tied the knot with the actor Emilio Estevez (the couple split in 1994). "Will You Marry Me?" was written by the songwriter Peter Lord, who told Songfacts: "Paula had a title and feel for the song and we built the foundation from there." Stevie Wonder played harmonica on this song. Lord told us how this collaboration came about: "One of us said, 'Wouldn't it be great to get Stevie to play on the track?' And Paula said, 'I can get him.' Stevie was, of course, incredible. He is truly my primary inspiration for even becoming a songwriter or musician. It was one of the highlights of my music career to work with my hero." Spellbound was Abdul's second album and the follow-up to her 1988 debut Forever Your Girl. Lord told Songfacts about working with Abdul in the studio: "I found she gained much more confidence and actually vocal strength as time went on. And most importantly she was always definitely a hard worker."
I remember this song and the video premiered on my 15th birthday and I got to go to her concert in Tacoma, Wa a few days later. She was super happy at this time freshly married to Emilio Estavez.
When I was in 6th grade I said on my essay that Paula Abdul was one of my favorite singers. I still feel the same. Here is a good oldie but good song!!❤
Shocked? It’s awful lol. I was a huge Paula fan. Still am, but this song and video are just so blah. After the missed opportunity of having a crazy weird and amazing video for Vibeology, she then went on to give us this. To You or My Foolish Heart would have been a nice bounce back, I believe.
@@RockinDaBoombox - Agreed. This music video in particular could've been so much better and was a wasted opportunity. Paula bouncing & strutting around in a white dress for 4min is boring af. Paula and the director should've come up with a story concept of some kind like she did with the video for Rush Rush. I loved how that music video paid homage to the movie Rebel Without a Cause.

Yes, Yes, Yes.... I will. A Very underrated Paula Abdul song. One of my favorites along with Forever Your Girl...... Maybe I just have a thing for her voice.
Her voice is definitely distinct, which is one of the the reasons she was able to reach the level of success that she did in the music industry. She may not have Mariah Carey's vocal range, but that's almost irrelevant! Thank you Paula..... Love the song... now it's time to decide on a dress... The dresses are all so beautiful.... I'd wear all for my day... one for walking down the isle... reception... quick change... honeymoon... just saying
excellent video quality Will You Marry I stay 10 looks prettier paula abdul is one of the best videos in history with great special effects looks very current thanks for remastering the video
not really. it was a coincidence it was a single in the timing. but this was released in May 1991. she didn't meet Emilio Estefan til January 1992. they were married in April of 1992
I saw Paula in concert in 1991-ish in Raleigh- she has a great voice and so talented- she was about to marry Emilio Estevez and sang this in a wedding dress- she doesn't get enough credit for her Pop ICON status
...cute song; made it to #19 Pop, Spring of 1992.... The Video was FABULOUS, & made up for the 'low-budget' Videos for "Promise Of A New Day" & "Vibeology"...her dancing is on FULL display here! Unfortunately, tastes were changing in '92; "Jump" from Kiss Kross, was THE Song to beat, then.... LUV the 'Sassy Paula' chompin' on the gum, on the right, at 4:24....
Anybody in the US who owns a copy of this on VINYL better hang onto it...if the rumors are true, the only vinyl release of this (in the US) was through the Columbia House® music club (remember THAT??). I have it on CD, and it is a very crisp, clear sounding audio body of work! This song is my favorite off of the album!
During this time, her videos were really visually interesting; they pushed the boundaries of technology, so the image was really sharp and the colors were vibrant. They've aged very well in terms of image and her singing was at its finest.
I’ve been sent back in time after watching this.. I was 13 years old in 1992 and loved Paula Abdul♥️
Yeah, I wanted to be the lucky bastard who got to carry her at the end, but alas, that's not how it worked out! XD
Classic!
Me too. My heart is happy
I was 12 and bought both cassettes.... I think I was in love.
Omg me too🤟🏻❤️❤️❤️🤙🏻🤟🏻
This song deserves a comment in 2022!!! It is approved by time! Great recording! Incredible mood and harmonica by Stevie Wonder! Can't stop listening!
The harmonica is everything
Não sabia que Stevie Wonder participava nesta canção.

He did?
Christen Smith Yes indeed, and also for Sting's "Brand New Day" (I might be missing others).
Eric Springer never knew that but at least that's all he does in this song. He's more talented when he shuts his mouth. He can't sing worth shit

I love the “water man” Paula dances with at the end. This video is so cute and visually ahead of its time!!
Back then, I thought she was dancing with the T-1000. Think bout it.

Thank you Paula..... Love the song... now it's time to decide on a dress... The dresses are all so beautiful.... I'd wear all for my day... one for walking down the isle... reception... quick change... honeymoon... just saying
Пола, лапушка..... Хочется, что бы у так людей как она, всё по жизни складывалось...
I've always thought this to be so beautiful!!! 💚
excellent video quality Will You Marry I stay 10 looks prettier paula abdul is one of the best videos in history with great special effects looks very current thanks for remastering the video
This was her proposal to Emilio Estevaz who did end up marrying her.
But ended in divorce about 2 years later 😟
Doing this as a song after what i just read is a pop star asking for trouble.
not really. it was a coincidence it was a single in the timing.
but this was released in May 1991. she didn't meet Emilio Estefan til January 1992. they were married in April of 1992
Robert Price you mean Emilio Estevez Emilio Estefan is married to Gloria Estefan
TheDeluxe79 why would SHE propose to him
Never saw this video before, only the cover of the cd, at that time was hunger-student, doesn't have Tv cable, is good to finally see Paula on this.
I saw Paula in concert in 1991-ish in Raleigh- she has a great voice and so talented- she was about to marry Emilio Estevez and sang this in a wedding dress- she doesn't get enough credit for her Pop ICON status
Such a GORGEOUS song
I was only 13 when this came out and didn't know of love and relationships then.
So poinient now
Will ya marry me? This is a beautiful song.
Yes I will Paula! And I will quit dipping snuff...well maybe. ;). Lol. Love some Paula Abdul! Grew up listening to her every word. DPT
One of my favorite videos of all time and the song still is amazing catching my heart every time…😌🥰
I always thought the song was a great piece of pop confection. Its an innocent ode to love. What a concept.
So elegant! Adore this song!
Lovely ☺️ how are you doing today?
...cute song; made it to #19 Pop, Spring of 1992....
To me, I think, Will You Marry Me was the best song on the Spellbound album. And I'll stick by that statement as long as I shall live.
I miss the days gone by. Especially the times like when this song came out. 80s and early 90s I miss you pretty bad.
Paula is adorable
I think that she's great too!
We have 1 life to live..............why not?
I LOVE PAULA
She looks so pretty in this video.
I love the way she dances and she looks so beautiful. I remember seeing the end and thinking how futuristic that looked. LOL
I miss that times so much... 😍🎶💃
30 years old, this song is so cute.
I absolutely loved Paula Abdul when I was a young girl. I still like her.
👼Heavenly sound❤️
