IMPORTANT NOTE : The purpose of this video is specifically geared towards rotoscoping freeware 3d animations, as part of the previs process. Mixamo is free to be used in personal, commercial and non profit projects. Please do not use any animations that you do not have the right/ permissions to. I am not encouraging the use of rotoscoping for beginners as something to lean on, but for use as part of a particular process.
Great Stuff as always! A tip for "moving the origin of the GP object slightly towards camera (at around 02:50). You can keep the origin in the same location as the 3D object when you go to the Grease Pencil Objects Properties and under Viewport Visibility klick IN FRONT while drawing. Thus your line will always be clearly visible. You might know that by now yourself, I just thought ... Keep up the fantastic work!
my God sir. i could cry. im a graphic designer REALLY interested in animation and love that 2D feel of old animation in particular and this is a god send. the fact this is free is INSANE. I don't think you understand what brilliance you've created by making this videos. I'm subbed.
This whole series of tutorials was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very much. YOu answered so many questions and covered so many bases while getting right to the point while making it very enjoyable to watch. Most tuts are almost mind-numbing with dialog that distracts from learning what the video is about. Again, a great lesson. Very much appreciated. I had to subscribe.
Fantastic to hear, and glad you got all the way through them. Yes, I have made a conscious effort not to ramble too much (I do allow myself a little soapboxing/evangelising about blender here and there though :) But only where it is necessary to really sell this process of working and let a little of my passion for it out) That is the reason I don't do live recordings while making the content, but add the VO later so I can keep things tighter. New content coming soon, so thanks for subbing mate. I look forward to seeing what you do with it.
I never really understood the grease pencil until now! And wow I didnt know it was this useful for planning out animations which is where I lack in. But greatly appreciated for the content!! :D
Awesome videos, thank you so much for sharing your workflow. It was really well explained and I think you will help many others in exploring this excellent software! Did you ever figure out how to turn of that opacity turning on and off when using the onion skin?
Dude, this was incredible, Thank you. I'm a 3d guy in the industry for what, 7, 8 years, and I have always seen the new grease pencil with this kind of potential. I've boarded a 5 minute short and when I go to animate it I'll be coming back to this tute series for sure
when I try parenting the grease pencil object to my mixamo animation it does this weird thing where the model gets all distorted but the the bones are still doing the movement.. do you know what could be wrong?
