Let's...GO! Nice vid brother!
I love the youtube gardening community! This rocks good to see you here too Kevin!
My fave gardener commenting on my fave food forester 🤩
I NEVER have to plant kale anymore! It always reseeds in random spots, I take what I need, I leave the plants to flower (even if they have to be mowed around 😅) and I let them go seed happy! Every spring, I wind up with kale far more resilient and gorgeous than I seem to be able to grow myself. Nature knows what she's doing, so I let her! ☺️
"I have never seen a vegan pup before". This video had me laughing so hard. Your pup really making his own salad. Pup with the munchies. 😂
Yorkies rule!
Yes. He is definitely the star of the show. Team tucker!!!!
The Tuck segment starts to sound like that "promotion" segment from most content creators. Any time I expect James to go "this video is sponsored by Tuck, head of gardening patrol! Head over to the comment section and send him a like!".
I love this team! Great video and knowledge, as always!
Tuck is a star! Can't get enough of him.
Agree
I couldn't agree more.
Is Tuck a cairn terrier?
Yep!! Definitely! 👏✨👏
Nasturtium was the very first garden seed I ever planted and I was very successful. That was about 60 years ago and that magic has kept me trying my whole life. Sometimes very successful, sometimes shameful not. Usually my failures were my fault, so I keep on trying and loving every minute.
Edit: Well, loving most minutes.
Same here...been gardening for 60+ years, but just recently began learning about permaculture and guilds. There's always something new to learn when cultivating the land, and gardening does have its inherent failures. But, the even the failures are there to teach us; mostly, it keeps me humble, and always learning/researching.
Happy gardening.
Your deep love for Tuck brings a tear to my eye. 🥲
Ha! Don't be sad. It's just allergy season.
I am on my sixth Yorkie( I do come from Yorkshire)🐶
Greetings to both you and Tuck.🥰🇨🇦
Greetings Patricia!
I just love Tuck.
Me too, and he is my boss
😂😂😂 shower him with kisses for me. He reminds me so much of my late blue yorkie , Mr. Winslow. He was my baby. 🐶
I just discovered delicious radish pods. I let my radish go to seed because I wanted to try saving seeds. This week I picked a pod to see if it was ready and discovered that they taste delicious. Mild radish flavor crossed with crunchy pea. Then you talk about how great they are!
Tuck's coat is so healthy! It has to be this wonderful fresh food he gets :)
Growing Radishes is the best! Almost instant gratification after a long winter. And something so satisfying about the surprise when you pull it out of the ground. This was my first year growing these spring crops and I loved it!
You should do a video diary so all of us zone 7 gardeners know when to plant what veggies, also seed starts indoors timing as well
Awww, sweet Tuck. We do love seeing him & it's so cute how he loves the veggies. Great tips!
Excellent!!!!! A friend of mine grew spinach on his farm. The trick to huge spinach crops is to plant in the fall and the roots develop. When winter comes the leaves die back to the roots. In spring the plants are already established. He can get three cuttings in the spring season for produce.
He retired from spinach farming and now does a pick your own and entertainment farm. The geese were eating an acre a day of the roots and leaves going into winter.
I've completely changed my mindset about gardening. I always thought lettuce type veggies were a waste of time because they didn't have many calories. Now I realize they are the perfect vegetable because they are packed with nutrition and grow rapidly. I can just buy calorie foods at the store.
yup
Besides calories, I think It's also about the taste! 😉
Add as many different leaf varieties as you can .... Herbs and flowers make salad more interesting ....side salad every meal 💓
My 15 yo dachshund, Chocolate, sends his love to Tucker!! Chocolate follows me all over the garden also! He doesn’t eat as many veggies as your Tucker, but he does love carrots 🥕!!
Awe!!! Chocolate sounds like a sweet pup! Thanks for the love and kind words, send him some "good boys" from me and Tuck
My Rosie and Sophie do took!
All my dogs I've owned in my life love carrots!!!!
love those fresh veggies and nice seeing you both Tucker
Thanks! Nice seeing you as well my friend, me and Tuck appreciate the support 😁
My zucchini rotted do you have any tips
Ayeeeee it’s my favorite gardener bro the fact that you did this in jersey makes it that much better. I hope tuck has babies to carry on his legacy
I made my own vegan dog food which my dog loved! SO SO SO happy you encourage Tuck to forage for his veggies and fruits. They are omnivores. I am happy for you both. This IS the life. And happy that you are grateful for all of your blessings. This made all the difference to continue watching your channel.
My Swiss Chard grew through the winter in zone 7! I got to eat it early April as it grew and filled out so well! It also seems to grow fast for me in the first season I plant it too.
You know we love to see Tuck. He is such a smart boy.
Hi James! Could you try and make a video about recipes that you like to cook or prepare from your wonderful crops? It would be really nice to see how you use up all the stuff from your garden. Cheers!
Tuck is a great little dog. It's great that people see how good veggies are for dogs. Most of us feed only dry
Or canned food , thinking that's all dogs eat. But dogs need veggies in their diet. That's what's nice about a
Family garden, and good for kids to be introduced to the necessity of home fresh gardening. We don't know
Where or how store bought veggies are grown or what chemicals they are consuming. Today especially we
have to start eating healthy and include more fresh greens. It's a very natural thing to enjoy your garden , and
not really work, but a labor of love. Something personal you do for yourself and family. It's Love!
Great video! One thing I just found out this year is that the flower shoots from kale and collards, kohlrabi, etc. are called "raab" and they're delicious sautéed with some butter or olive oil and garlic until tender, maybe slightly burnt. From now on I'm going to be happy when they bolt because that's my new favorite vegetable!
It’s good to know what parts are good to eat (root, pods, leaves, etc) for those of us who are novice gardeners. Thanks!
You and Tuck bring great joy to my life. I love watching you guys! I love growing and I love dogs. You're a DYNAMIC DUO! 🥰💚
I don't know how quickly they can be harvested but I like collards, turnip greens and mustard greens.
I have to laugh, I thought I was the only one with a radish loving dog 🤣
Love watching a fellow NJ gardener.
You and Tuck inspire me to get out and start growing!!!
I love your videos. I’ve learned so much from you....Thank you James!
Thanks Leslie, me and Tuck are glad to hear that. We have a blast making the videos
Briefly sautee those radishes with spring onions in a bit of butter! Divine!
Been watching you since 2020. You inspired me to start a tiny food forest in my yard. I love the perennial mindset! Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us!
Wow.. what a coincidence.. I have also harvested Radishes from my garden & made a step by step video for it.. Grown it in a container this time (white icicle, red variety) but also sowed next round in garden bed.. 😀 If anyone would like to watch it from sowing till harvest.. You are welcome !
Tuck is SO cute! Love how he eats his veggies!! 😍
Wise old man tuck. Seeing veggies grow always makes me happy. Pity, I only can grow 3 planter in my small apartment.
Not in the garden but... sprouts.. sooo easy. Beets. You can pick beet greens and use thinnings while the roots mature.
Great suggestions Tom! Thanks for sharing
I'm a dog person, so yeah love seeing Tuck 💕
Tuck is the best garden dog!
Tuck is teaching us a lesson indeed!
Tuck is on to it. Our cat follows me around the garden, I notice always in the background and appears in most photos around the garden. Nice to have the animals around too. They do teach us don’t they.
James you’re my hero.
I don't have any recommendations, as I just am really getting into gardening (2nd spring), thanks to you James (and Jess at Roots and Refuge). James you're incredible. I so appreciate your continuing encouragement, humbly shared knowledge, wicked enthusiasm, beautiful food forest, well-paced and to-the-point delivery of helpful Information, all in videos with perfect sound, fantastic camera work, and great editing. Thank you for all this and more! God bless you.
That is a great list, thank you! Most of them apply to us here in zone 3 as well.
