heyy i'm in jersey and same zone. i got blasted with blue berry maggots this year. at least thats what i think they were. very easy to tell which berries were infected. small little hole on them. luckily i found Spinosad and started using that and so far i'm starting to get small hand fulls of non compromised berries. apparently i should have been spraying earlier so its good to know about! spinosad and bt really effective when you spray them earlier enough my kale was toast by this time last year. since the blue berry maggot comes from the soil i think i was wondering if the nets still help in that case. since spinosad worked and is so cheap i wont be bothering with nets yet but i also had damage from carpenter bees which results in a lot of tiny berries that werent fully pollinated. that the nets def would help with i guess. also since you always talk about utilizing space so much it would be cool to see you do a video on the bushel and berry varieties of berries. all are bred to do best in small planters or hanging pots. i've had success with them in this climate this is their secodn year in my possion and they have good fruit set. my space is extremely limited but i can hang these plants all over the place and above where the deer can reach and as close to the side of the house . worth exploring in the least!
So are the 'flowers' you recently incorporated considered 'Ground Cover'? Also, how do you get cabbage (and everything else for that matter!) to grow so LARGE when the bed is that densely planted? Additionally, I see that you do give your potatoes their own beds.
@jamesprigioni wow this looks amazing. I live on a mediterranean island , zone 10, i started last september .we have pur challenges here sometimes i just want to quit but then i see your videos and get inspired again . Thank you. May i know if you covered the ground with wood chips? And straw ?
I'm very impressed how my garden is growing this year. I've been fighting non hodgekins mantle cell lymphoma cancer for 17 years now and this year, I'm planting smarter. Time is precious. I've been watching you and Tuck and you are such inspiration. I wear my food forest shirt proudly! Thank you James❤
Hope you get well soon look up vitamin B17 and also look up the people who have reversed their diagnosis with a raw vegan diet there is so many things out there you can do even switch to hemp milk and hemp seeds in your smoothies etc
Dude, (ok, this is CRAZY!🤯), well done on successfully being in the war for SOOO long. Me: NHlymphoma stage 3 met'd to Mult Myoloma, year 28. Respect!🙌 I'm down to 6hrs a day of even minimal activity. James & Boss Tuck💕 have let me continue to garden like I did 30 years ago! Thanks guys! And best prayers to you, Jude!👍
James, your energy is unrivalled! All the best from the UK! You have single handedly got me into growing again this year and I can’t thank you enough my friend!
Same , started my raised bed garden last year in Uk after discovering this , and second year in have got myself an allotment and am really enjoying it.
The garden is as ridiculous, as unbelievable and as other-worldly as ever Mr. P. It's just 'wow look at me' everywhere you look. Hard to choose from all the awesome stuff. But the golden raspberries made me salivate... ❤Tuck is in heaven again...
LOVE your genuine and contagious joy when you're harvesting or even walking through your garden, whatever stage it is in. I can absolutely relate. Thanks for sharing your beautiful garden and all the tips! 🧡 to Tuck
Garden gnome at 9:05. You are the best gardener & your Food Forest seems too good to be true... Like a Wonderland😇 Love, all the way from Darjeeling, India
As a Landscape Architect, I love plants. James is an amazing guy.. I learn from James. as well as my family. We as a family watch over and over. We started feed our Miniature poodle a lot more fruits and vegetables. Thank you so much James.
I have been following James for many years. I have watched move from level to level as he continue to grow he himself continues to grow. I started watching him because first and foremost, the wood chips after watching Paul G. Back to Eden documentary. By no means a new way of gardening that Paul himself invented, instead a method that he was enlighted on that bought on revelation and shared his personal experience. Needless to say, Paul and James has so inspired me to grow, along with another UA-camr, Larry Hall (now has passed on) Rain Gutter Grow System, all three of these guys he lit a fire and desire to never give up and grow your own. Every time I watch James, it's like, his garden his so bodacious, vivacious, and on green steroids, so strong and healthy. DO YALL SEE THE LEAVES ON THOSE CABBAGES? Trips me out everytime😆, furthermore good for compost and feeding those chickens. When he pulled back the leaves on the Purple Dragon Cabbage, kid you not, he and I both said at the same time "Beautiful". The color of his garden is like painting a picture. I have watched him build his beds and start to refine and define his space. I MUST ADMIT when I first started watching Food Forest, I thought this was a mess, how does he know where everything is at, walking all over stuff, stuff just everywhere😂and his dog walking on and licking all over the food, thats just me being a nut. But it's suppose to be a food forest and a forest does not have have everything in symmetrical order, OCD order, it's growing in its own harmony. I stuck with James, and watched him build his raised beds, and trellises and his love and excitement to grow food. The other day I did order his JP fertilizer waiting on my shipment in a few days, I considered it sowing a seed into his wealth of knowledge that he passes on. Thank you James for all you do, so grateful, 👍🏽👍🏽and hats off to you. Fellow New Jersian, Somerdale.
I would love to see a garden plan of your food forest, maybe in the garden almanac planner or some other app. Or on paper. Because I see it from ground level but can’t imagine it from above. Cheers 👋
I watch you peal back those huge leaves and just keep thinking man I would love those leaves to make concreate stepping stones with them. Love how you teach James thanks so much. Hugs and snuggles to Tuck
James, I think you might just live forever with this lifestyle. Haha! Have you heard of blue zones? There are a few places in the world where people tend to have above average health and live a long time. In a lot of those areas, you might see the 98 year old grandma in the garden with a garden hoe, getting to work. The consistent sunshine, movement and fresh produce are incredibly valuable. You also add in the social aspect if you are sharing produce, and visiting with friends and neighbors. As an addictions counselor, I give this addiction a 20/10. Would recommend.
22:15 the gnome is at your armpit. ❤❤❤❤ Tuck, you and your garden! We rent our home, but that did not stop me from having a garden. Containers, containers and more containers plus a huge dirt mound for squash and eggplant and raised bed for green beans. Next year getting strawberries to grow.
The size and color of the cauliflower is phenomenal. I know you eat and gift to family and friends but do you can or freeze any of your harvest? You and Tuck ❤❤❤❤ are truly awesome.
Love your Food Forest is the stuff Dreams are made of! I am getting my first two raised beds in a couple days! I am so excited and have seedlings about ready to transplant into their new home. You have been a very enthusiastic model for getting into growing organic food crops. Can’t thank you enough and of course your boss Tuck! Blessings
What an amazing garden! I never miss your videos. If you haven't been in the Better Homes and Garden magazine, I really hope they see your channel and enter you in their magazine. Take care and keep up the great work and teaching.
would love to see a video sometime on how you decide how much food to grow and what you do with the extra! i always wonder about how to know exactly how much to plant for just myself to eat
I am so jazzed, watching your videos. Gets me excited watching my own Food Forest grow in zone 5 in Ontario Canada. Love❤Tuck. Oh, and a shout out to your camera person. Able to follow you with a steady camera and not make us dizzy watching
Gnome at 22:13. Probably not first. Been gardening for 5 years now because of watching your channel. Only have 6 raised beds and 3 trees but it’s a start.
Agree with all the wonderful comments on your passion for veggie and fruit gardening. I've heard so much about permaculture over the years, but you did an awesome job of making this simple and understandable. Lots of hearts to Tucky
Dude, I'm loving what I'm seeing. Our food forest is banging too. We harvested a bunch of raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries. Apples, peaches, figs, and pears are coming in. Our chickens are laying too.
Love you James and little Tuck. All your hard work is amazing. Enjoy your channel so very much. It makes me feel like I am back in my grandparents big gardens when I was a kid. Bless you and Tuck.
Garden is looking gorgeous!!! The cauliflower absolutely stunning and I am now motivated to try some of your varieties. Always love seeing you and Tucky in the garden💞💕♥Another great video - thanks for sharing James.
You are awesome in your great tried-and-true growing the natural forest method.... Got to love it ! You are well rounded and cover lots of edible crops from the garden : bush, vine, tree and everything in-between. I am sooo glad that you don't harvest cattle or chickens....which to me is stressful. You are the best true gardener out there ...as well as Acre Homesteading ( probably learning from you ) . Mr. Tuck is sweet and cute and adds a great loving element to your garden. You are quickly becoming #1 to my homesteading viewing preference. Awesome...all-around great job with your garden knowledge and sharing with us in a positive, energetic and loving manner. Thank You .

❤ I'm very glad that I stumbled upon your channel. I'm in Connecticut therefore I should be able to grow what you grow. Thanks for the tips!
Do you go back and take the rest of the plant out? Also, do you compost all the leaves? If you do, maybe a video on how you compost.
