I like how the MJF gimmick for this title run was basically a perfect encapsulation of a gripe the OSW team had with Rusev's WWE run, where any babyface facing him was suddenly all patriotic and American, even if that wasn't their gimmick in the past. MJF doing a sudden patriotic gimmick as a heel works so much better, making him a real hypocritical slimeball.
I was there with two non-wrestling fan friends (they stepped in after a cancellation) and it was a lot of fun. Crowd felt quiet at first but got super hot later. I also got to meet Tom, who was very nice. What a gent.

I was desensitised for something like that by watching the old Dynamite Kid vs Tiger Mask matches from the early 80s, as they were just both spamming Tombstones for the entire match, both inside and outside the match. So a single Tombstone not being treated as a career ender is fine with me.😂

One of my very few claims to fame, I once gave Toni Storm a lift to a little indie show we both worked on in north wales in my busted ass 306 estate. She was super sweet and friendly. Seeing her as AEW champ was a double take moment as I haven't worked a match in years and dont watch a whole lot of modern wrestling, so happy she's been so successful
In regards to the fine, an old article from 2008 indicates Madonna was fined 50K for every 15 minutes she went over at Wembley and ended up getting billed over 130K for going 40 minutes over her allotment. Keep in mind that's almost 20 years old now but using those numbers if they prorated it per minute it'd be about 13K (Rounding, with each minute being 3.3K with 3 repeating infinitely). Again, these are old numbers so probably a lot more these days.

I loved ALL IN, but i think i underrated it, listening back and just getting the extended highlights you guys have done, this show was as massive as last year. I've gotten goosebumps multiple time in this "rewatch" just from how well things were and how special the big moments are.

Just want to point out that Ospreay cutting off his finger to be an Assassin was only a thing with the Crusade Era of games. It's a plot point during the Renaissance era that the Hidden Blade was modified so the user doesn't have to cut their finger off. So it's only Altair that had his finger cut off while Ezio, Connor and all the other future playable characters have all their fingers intact

In reference to Maffew, I remember driving across the country by myself for King of Trios in 2014, and night one I just so happened to sit down next to Maffew. He was a really friendly guy, and we spent most of the night popping each other with heckles and crowd commentary. I sincerely miss those days. If there was ever a chance to do a full Chikara review, I think it could be such a cool thing. But I also understand what a niche audience that would attract. Just wanted to share my story. I feel lucky to have met Bryan Danielson when he wrestled for TWA. I was there the night he, Spanky (Brian Kendrick), Lance Cade and Shooter Schultz signed wth WWF. Even in his American Dragon days we could see that he was going to be a legend.
I'm still not a fan of over-doing the 'false finish' (5 in a match used to be the 'Upper Limit' in a Main Event, now it's a typical weeknight event), but my lil' bro finally got me to start following AEW a bit and it IS a fun watch. LOTS of nods to old-school late 70's/early 80's territorial wrestling which appeals to 'Elders' like me. I'm more impressed with mat based wrestling ability, but can appreciate high spots that aren't TOO obviously staged (if you wanna fall 40 or 50' on to a crash pad, we'll understand, but TEST IT so it doesn't look 100% HORRIBLE- I still have flashbacks of seeing clouds of packing peanuts or sawdust shoot into the air when past bodies have hit their target: GREAT looking fall, but the effect got blown when the packing/stuffing visibly destroyed the 'illusion'). 'Hope these kids play safe, too- pro wrestling can handle it if we only get one 'Mick Foley' in a lifetime. Another FINE JOB of a review, boys- Cheers!

Just want to point out that Ospreay cutting off his finger to be an Assassin was only a thing with the Crusade Era of games.
It's a plot point during the Renaissance era that the Hidden Blade was modified so the user doesn't have to cut their finger off. So it's only Altair that had his finger cut off while Ezio, Connor and all the other future playable characters have all their fingers intact

In reference to Maffew, I remember driving across the country by myself for King of Trios in 2014, and night one I just so happened to sit down next to Maffew. He was a really friendly guy, and we spent most of the night popping each other with heckles and crowd commentary. I sincerely miss those days.

I feel lucky to have met Bryan Danielson when he wrestled for TWA. I was there the night he, Spanky (Brian Kendrick), Lance Cade and Shooter Schultz signed wth WWF. Even in his American Dragon days we could see that he was going to be a legend.

I'm still not a fan of over-doing the 'false finish' (5 in a match used to be the 'Upper Limit' in a Main Event, now it's a typical weeknight event), but my lil' bro finally got me to start following AEW a bit and it IS a fun watch. LOTS of nods to old-school late 70's/early 80's territorial wrestling which appeals to 'Elders' like me. I'm more impressed with mat based wrestling ability, but can appreciate high spots that aren't TOO obviously staged (if you wanna fall 40 or 50' on to a crash pad, we'll understand, but TEST IT so it doesn't look 100% HORRIBLE- I still have flashbacks of seeing clouds of packing peanuts or sawdust shoot into the air when past bodies have hit their target: GREAT looking fall, but the effect got blown when the packing/stuffing visibly destroyed the 'illusion'). 'Hope these kids play safe, too- pro wrestling can handle it if we only get one 'Mick Foley' in a lifetime. Another FINE JOB of a review, boys- Cheers!
