What FPV Sim is the Best? | Low Performance Computer

- I got a new laptop and wanted to find what simulator felt the best with a computer not necessarily made for gaming. It's an M4 Macbook Pro, great for editing, not awesome for simming.
Let me know what your alls thoughts are ! I know this wasn't a perfect test so i apologize, I may make it again with other sims in the future!

I’ve flown most of the sims . Velocidrone is my favorite . I love the nemesis mode and the feel. I just tried the updated version tonight and had a blast flying tiny trainer , spec 7, light switch , prospec and the prig ! Also so fun to fly past Multigp tracks!!
Great video.
VelociDrone is a staple and definitely what I fly most. Uncrashed is pretty good, if you spend the time to understand and tweak their physics engine.
What was up with DRL locked at 60? Input latency would be way too high, and make it feel really weird... Thats literally the reason I use a 240 OLED panel for SIM... It feels closer to my IRL flying, even compared to my old 360Hz LCD.
Try it out !
Just downloaded Velocidrone and love it. I was using Liftoff. Runs good on my weak PC.
Sweet!
I own every SIM also and I definitely rock with velocidrone the most. It definitely feels the realist out of all of them. Second I love FPV logic it's the closest to authentic 5-in handling in my opinion but nothing beats velocidrone velocidrone feels like I'm out side having a session I learned to fly in velocidone and I practice in velocidrone daily still 2 and 1/2 years later. My second favorite Sim is definitely FPV logic it's the only one that comes close to the authentic handling of velocidrone. Great video bro Loving these daily uploads. Ps velocidrone so good that I literally tested and adjusted my rates in the sim and then took it outside and back and forth until I got the perfect rates That's how authentic velocidrone is also it's got full Betaflight PID's and rates in it one of the few Sims to have it I believe TRYP also has it but the feel of the quads just isn't authentic enough for me same goes for uncrashed.
I need to try FPV logic apparently!
I find FPV logic very unrealistic compared to Liftoff, tho that second industrial map is by far the best map in any sim
@@headsupfpv YES YOU DO!
Great video. Super helpful and down to earth. Sifting through specs and technical parameters for your machine puts us into analysis paralysis. I wouldn't call an M4 MacBook Pro a low performance computer but totally get what you're getting at. I use MacBook Pros and have always struggled to get the ideal simulator performance. Nicely summed up.
Great feedback ! Will use this moving forward.
Man... your pre-turns are next level, Evan (duh! right?). I was wondering, would you recommend I lower my camera angle to something a bit more modest when first learning to race if I seem to have the tendency to try and fly a course too fast and end up crashing out and getting frustrated? When I try to make myself slow down it works for like a lap or two before a false sense of confidence triggers my inner Ricky Bobby to come out yelling "I WANNA GO FAST" and immediately go from flying a multirotor to flying a bad of dog poo.
Maybe you have a better suggestion? One other idea that just came to mind as I was typing this was maybe handicap the quad in the simulator (or fly 3s or something on my 6s quad?)
I think this is a great idea to start! It’s great you’re noticing this on your own, most people will do everything in their power to go faster when really they should probably go slower. Try it out and let me know how it goes !
I love DCL and DRL - they both have a kind of feel or vibe to them that seems fantasy like in the way that they have neon like lighting combined with many amazing locations for the tracks.
I have wanted to purchase Velocidrone for some time as it frequently comes up as peoples no 1 choice for a sim however I am glad to hear that you found that DRL and DCL are for sure at least competitive to it.
They are all good ! each have their strengths of course
Awesome! Thanks Evan!
Thanks for the support always!
Velocidrone just got a MASSIVE physics and optimization update. they added two more cpu physics settings "super" and "ultra". and a big addon for me was the "sticks on screen" setting stays on/off when you change tracks, because I record all my practice sessions. (and stream sometimes)
I was also really happy to see the tinytrainer and the spec 7 added too, since we already had the lightswitch and the switchback. tiny trainer training for tiny-spec is going to be ON! just wait till January 11 when I can afford to come race. >:3
Is the update athematic? Did not notice it couple days ago.
@@stumbras2000 it was posted on the 17th, was a 1409MB download in the launcher, check the changelog "1 - 17 - 0 - 768".
automatic? it should be as long as you are connected on launch.
Really excited to test it!
Thank You for this one Evan! Been wanting to see how the m4 macbooks do with these sims and framerates. Nothing beats a macbook for editing though :)
Totally agree!
Low performance computer should definitely try out FPVSIM's online drone simulator. Runs in your browser, you know how low end the hardware can get!
I will have to try this !
How about a quick walk through of Velocidrone - getting rates loaded picking drone, courses etc
I’ve got it on the list!
Having a great computer with a GPU that can handle 360Hz monitor helps - alot! I jumped from a 60Hz monitor to a 360Hz and it was so smooooooth (of course I had a video card that could handle the high output frame rate). I could clearly see the difference and my lap times were noticeably faster... in Velocidrone.
...and yes you do want a 17inch Alienware bible thick laptop to just SIM on. It will help keep you warm during the winter months. LOL!!!
lol! 360 hz sounds absolutely amazing haha glad you like it!
I Agree!!
You keep calling the M4 Macbook a low-performance computer but even the baseline 10-core GPU is generally comparable to a desktop Nvidia RTX 3060 and has significantly more VRAM available to the dGPU with the shared high-bandwidth memory. These new Macs are actually beasts and they're super efficient.
You have a good point !
For those out there who love Uncrashed with its amazing graphics & now new map builder feature, my older MacBook Pro M2 works totally fine, the fan does kick in so I also run an external fan to help out.
Happy Flying Y’all.
I’m going to give it a shot!
Personally I use uncashed and after their new physics 2.0 update I feel it’s as realistic as it can be with multiple maps, active community and able to run on my laptop which can barely edit properly 😅
Sweet ! I’m going to give it a try next
Nice the liftoff lags on my old cheap laptop hope velocidrone operates good with an old cheap laptop. Fly on!
excited to hear if it performs better!
If your looking for a topic, would be nice to have some tutorials about using some free video editing software like gyroflo and davinci, just start on how to load video, trim it and stabilize it on gyroflow and then load that on davinci to add music, you could probably get several short videos out of this, maby one for adding tittles, and maybe one for some simple color grading, seems like when you look up these videos you get these long winded videos that never show you what you want him to know just to make a nice video of a nice FPV rip to share with your friends....
I love this !
Hi Evan, just had a thought on feeling some delayed input into DCL I wondered if you reduced the dead zones for each axis to 0 within the game? It starts by default at 0.2 which feels weird.
I should absolutely verify this!!! Will do that now
For others that don't have something that can run a sim you can pick up an old 10-12 year old gaming PC for like $50 on marketplace with something like a gen 8 i5 and 750ti gpu and put steam OS on it that runs much easier without the windows scamware running. You can also do this with a Mac, you can partition the drives so it can still run the original scamware OS on it too. I also prefer velocidrone myself...
Interesting ! You’re full of good video ideas haha
I'm interested to see how TRYP performs on my macbook after their update coming out on Thursday (12/19/24), which should greatly improve performance issues for lower end computers, and also reworks the physics
I’ll try it out ! Didn’t know about this
Way more maps and tracks too. Most of their tracks are big open and unrealistic at the moment, still very fun and improving a lot. The low graphics look way better than they used to on the beta.
👍🏼
Logic for freestyle! Velocidrone for racing enough said.
Uncrashed is better for freestyle 🤪
I’m struggling with this issue rite now. When I got back into fpv I bought a Lenovo laptop to set my quads up with, didn’t even think about running a sim… now I’m on the hunt for an affordable gaming laptop or pc that I can train on., the Lenovo only gets does like 20fps on liftoff and is completely useless. I’ll try velocidrone but I’m not expecting it will do much better if at all
I think you need 60FPS minimum , hope it works out!
DRL has so much potential but it's sad it hasn't gotten an update since May 18, 2023!
Totally agree, I hope they pick up the updates soon!
Is liftoff any good compared to the others? I'm new to the hobby and that was the one I went with to learn how to fly. It got me flying, but it doesn't feel anything like real life , almost like flying in zero G so I don't use it anymore. I'm thinking of trying another, but wasn't sure if all sims felt like that or not.
Liftoff is definitely the floatiest in my experience, which isn’t good! Velocidrone would be a great one to try, very good physics and awesome features.
You forgot kamakazi drone!!!
Fpv logic, and liftoff. Fpv logic is great for muscle memory
I need to try FPV logic!
Also, you can run Velocidrone on Windows, Linux, MacOS, Android and iOS
True !
have all, love velocidrone most, but it lacks more multiplayer players like liftoff has..
They’re all strong in unique ways, i need to give liftoff another shot!
Hmmm... I'm not sure I would have thrown DCL in there, as it seems pretty different, and would have included Uncrashed, but hey, I'm watching. Sell me.
I will have to try Uncrashed and tryp in a future one!
i got tvrp and uncrashed!! updated uncrashed is good!
On the very bad PC - Freerider. On old but still OK PC - Velocidrone(with adjusted settings).
Which settings?
No uncrashed? Surprised i run it on a basic 300 dollar laptop and it runs great...... edit i play for freestyle skills honing and after i commented you stated you were goin on parameters of racing
I need to try it out !
I played on a M1 for a while it way.
How was it?
@ better than you think but lags when connected to external display
Real Drone Simulator for low performance. You can plan on mobile even.
Which sim?
It's got a proper turtle mode, Multiplayer, Car + drone multiplayer, Betaflight, and he's working on a juiccccyyy y big update at the moment.
Evrybody got a ps why not use that
I use Mac for editing, but I will test PC!
my question is
what is your pc setup
and are you a fellow no life pc nerd
I have a 3080 and 240 hz monitor, think it’s featured in a couple older videos , five33 themed ;)
@ which 3080
What copy
Mobo
Ram
EVERYTHING!!!!!
@ answer me Evan boy
@namanienie123 He was answering you, until you turned into an idiot.
Ew. Blocked.
