If you're wanting to know how you should practice check out this video where I walk you through 10 tips for learning FPV in the simulator!

Nice video! Very helpful, I'm hoping to improve in the simulator before purchasing my first FPV. I'm having such a hard time deciding whether I should go with a cinewhoop or get a 5"!

Thanks, bro glad you found it useful! I think the main thing is space, to be honest, and what you want to do (realistically). Are you going to be swooping through the forest or in your case above the river? do you want to fly slow between the trees and be smooth? i think i would go cinewhoop for your channel! I think i will make video on that! i think that's a great question?

    • @Bowhunt

@@MichaelHoughton_ In a way, I am leaning towards a whoop because I was initially looking at a DJI Mavic Air 2 for my channel. But, then I realized that with a little more work, time, money and tears.. I would be able to to get a FPV to open up some more opportunities. But, yeah I’m looking at pretty much a drone that can fly through trees for a nice cinematic feel, over rivers/lakes, and hopefully above the trees. I rather have a 5’ because it will also won’t be affected by wind as much since my filming is always outdoors. But, then I’m afraid that I’ll crash that right away. Decisions.. decisions.

Great Tips. Im learning on DRL sim right now and I found a couple of these quite helpful. This is coming from a rather skilled gamer of 30+ years. Great eye hand coordination and such, but learning to fly is a new curve. I can pick up a racing game/sim and chew it up and spit it out in no time flat. Learning to master a drone is proving to be a very rewarding challenge.

Thanks! This advice was helpful and I've gotten a lot better. Thanks! I'm still not quite up to racing and indoors, but my ability to go wherever I want, follow roads, circle objects, tight turns, make gaps, etc. has vastly improved in the last two weeks of day sim time (30-60+ minutes a day). My favorite is Tryp FPV, but I need to go back to DRL and Velocidrone for more indoor stuff.

Your best to experiment with rates pids to the extreme to see what they do. PID are for motor performance. Rates are for speed of signal from radio to quad. Preferance here.
A rate near 350-400.. for beginner you want to be here. Rates of 700-900 are very fast and make flipping easier as its done quicker. But at lower / slower rates your movements will be smooth in the beginning and that is what you want. smooth and controlled. Also height is your friend. When first learning a trick get some altitude so you have recover time

Hey Wendy! Good question. I think if you feel like your getting to familiar with a spot and you are finding it easy to do these tricks and tips then change it up. I guess I like some of the maps more then others. Do what you enjoy because it’s about that more then anything else
Enjoy the process. Getting the muscle memory of the maneuvers is more important then changing to every single map 🗺
