$23.99 USD shipped to a new Banggood buyer. 14 days shipping from China-> eastern US. Haven''t started playing with it yet. This one has a European plug on the charger but it's 110/220v and it uses a real basic plug adapter I already had.
Great review Fred, very informative as always. I've ordered the UV-5R Plus £17.54 and a Baofeng programming cable £6.82, banggood makes it easy but being patient until it arrives is another matter! 👍
Nice one Fred, cheers.👍 The missing port. Its an IPX ingress issue. If the pads and tracks are there, just diy it mate. I'll be doin' it to mine when I finally can afford one
Hi , i own 2 of them new k5 orange screen ones, i got them with mics in same color, actualy i think they looks pro. Just go for 10 of them, if something happens some day, this radio is a must have, give the kids one, the nabour, the mailman, everyone should have one of these, it cost less than a pizza, me and some friends are playing around with them now, making antennas and doing fun stuff, going out for a test when we can, realy fun, im on the look for a APRS handytalkie, with a nice tablet and a solar power powerbank, it is a must for a prepper or us that just want to do fun stuff, PMR is possible, but as you say, on high this is not legal with this little thing, but you can listen, and if the day comes when we need to use one of these, i doubt that the radio police will come for a few watt extra out, just behave, i use mine for listening on all the different emergency channels, like VHf channel 16. So just get some of them when you can, Best regards from Norway. "Sorry for my bad English"
Great video Fred. I have both models as well. I really think Quansheng just tried to improve the cosmetics and screen on the K5 8, the main board inside is the same. I can confirm you can snip the tab off at the top of the larger battery and fits and charges USB-C just fine in the K5 8. The 5R screen seems slower at refreshing, you can tell when scanning. The sound difference is the case grill. Cheers sir 👍
The fixed cable charging dock is 8.4 volts whereas USB would only be 5 volts, faster charging with the hardwired dock. It doesn't have to be since they could use USB PD and buck 12v down to what is needed but they aren't doing that, they are boosting 5v on those chargers which is less efficient and likely at lower amperage therefore slower charging.
Use a portable mains charger with 5 volts multiple outputs but higher amps but use the 2 or 3 amp output. It's the amperage that matters, not the volts. Most phone chargers are a mere 1 amp which takes a while to charge a radio. Radios need higher to get a fast charge.
Thanks Fred for this comparison video …However, I wish you would say the name “Quansheg” three times fast …😂..during your video…😂! 73! Have a great day!
Failed every time with usb charging on the K 5(8) unfortunately , but get 4.5 watts out of both of them I think yes the main difference is looks, battery and USB charging
I'm not doing to good lately, listing to the bands and watching UA-cam is helping. Fingers crossed back to work & radio site work soon! anyway enough of me I'd love to hear your thoughts of the Retekess TR112 before I commit to buying one, I spotted them weeks ago but I'd much prefer your thoughts over reviews 👍
I have the UV-5R Plus and the Retevis RA79 and found the batteries can not be swapped from one to the other. Maybe yours is different but mine are not compatible from one to the other. I found this out the day I thought maybe I could use the RA79 and the USB-C port to recharge the bigger battery. Nope.. not for me.. They can be charged from the same desktop charger though.
Hiya Fred hope u are all well? We need a catch up mate its been to long. What is the receiver to the left of the shot? I must have missed that one? Looks verybnice. Oh and nice collection going on by the way hahaha
Hi Gary hope you are well. The SW is a Raddy RF919. There will be a short preview on Fred2 later today and a very long review next sunday on this channel. Nice to hear from you Bud. :-)
Fred I have purchased the Quensheng UV K6 Pro is this a better radio to the Quensheng UV 5R+, also are Quensheng and Boefeng the same company as I'm trying to get a 2000Mah battery as my K6 only has a 1600Mah but can only see Boefeng or are they compatible if not where can you get Quensheng batteries from. 73 Black Jack
Hi Jack. People say that all the radios prob come out of the same factory. Maybe that is true. I am not totally sure. I dont think the batteries are swappable without some modding. If i get time in the week i will line them up and check. Cheers.
Hi Fred Yes I saw a video saying if you put a bigger battery in you have to let the radio know that it's not being powered by the standard battery. But getting back to my original question I'm just stumped as to where you purchase the larger Quensheng battery, as to wether I need a bigger battery who knows but I'm of the opinion If there is a bigger one available why not fit it if you have the funds to be able to do it. As I can only see Boefeng batteries I just wondered if they were compatible and thought I would ask you as your very knowledgeable and you know people who may know the answer. Thanks for checking / researching it's much appreciated look forward to hearing from you but if you can't find anything not to worry. 73 Black Jack Gt Yarmouth.

Frid in the shed your UA-cam videos are awesome my friend
the manual says, only charge via the built in usb-c in an emergency. have a look at F4HWN 's mod of egzumer.

the manual/manufacture say the tx power is 'equal to or less than' 5 watts

Hi. The Retekess TR112 is one radio ive not yet reviewed. I will be doing a full review on the flagship RF919 next week.
Hi Fred, nice video. Thank you for giving your knowledge on these radio's. How do you get 27MC on those? Is the radio modified with extra parts?
27 MC ?
@@CB-RADIO-UK 27MC = 27MHZ or the cb frequenty usual the 27,555 MHZ is the monitor frequency
hi how about BAOFENG UV-5RH the other youtube this one sound better and the reciever is better maybe. can you find out please
TiDradio H3, how does it compare?
I ve not got a H3 but the H5 has a better sound but is no where as mod able.
hello sir, can you do a powertest ouput on qunsheng uv-5r plus ? 🙂 thank you sir
Hi. Sorry i cant as i do not own a accurate meter.
Can you charge the UV-K5 to charge the battery of the UV-5R? (Meaning: can you swap the batteries and charge using USB-c)?
Ans in the comments ta.
To me the plus sounds better on the high end, like it's not clipping on the higher end of the frequency, especially when Tony is essing.
Yes it is a tiny bit clearer.
The plus sounds a lot better. Maybe a treble issue

Thanks for the info. Not tried myself.
Snap off the plastic flap to make the battery fit!
Can you buy the larger battery as a spare and put it on the standard one?
Not sure where you can buy a spare battery but they will swap over.
is USB charging with both possible--i hear there is not so.
Only on the base charger.
İs There any hidden menü to open 27 MHz band?
Do these radios capable of doing digital?
No i dont think so. Not yet.

60k for a Train Driver is ridiculous for someone playing Thomas the Tank Engine.
I know and they want 20% rise.
@@markfeltham9456 It won't be much longer and we won't even need them. Self driving trains are the future!
