When I was in the waiting room, having a few accessories installed on my new 2018 F150 (cross-bed tool box, headache rack, lift kit), I read the owners manual. Hundreds of pages! The funnel is handy in the tool box.
I love this car in every way, except this feature! Thanks for explaining where the funnel is. So people put their gas covered funnel back inside the vehicle so the fumes get around to the passengers after dumping out their jerry cans… and the owners manual says aftermarket funnels won’t work - really helpful of them to be so proprietary! *Rolls eyes.*
Nice of Ford to include the funnel. Probably not a great location for it after it has been used - sniff.... Great video by the way. Thanks. I couldn't figure out where the funnel was. Anybody else miss the printed manual? For 75 large, at minimum they should offer it to people who ask for it. Win-win. Save money on those who don't want it, and wouldn't that be a considerate test to determine customer satisfaction with their choice to remove it? And the document holder, which is now a plastic sandwich bag? Where did that go? Kind of feels like a kick to the agates after spending $75K. Me: "Hey, where's the owner's manual where I used to record my oil changes and other notes?" Ford: "Nah. We put it online and you can scroll the display in the truck. Get it there." Me: "But what if my truck won't start and I need the manual? Okay, well, what about my notes and things, and where I used to store my registration cards for truck and trailer, and my insurance card?" Ford: "Nah."
Thanks for warning me about that spring cover on the fuel tank. I had one years ago and that was the reason that I got dirt and debris in my tank. You just saved ne from buying a truck with a factory installed feature that I hate.
My vw had a misfuel adapter. Day one of owning it, I took a snapon cotter pin puller and ripped it out, I don't lend my car to anyone and I would never put anything but diesel in, and my local station has the wrong nozzle anyway so with the misfuel adapter I would have had to buy the Jerry can funnel.
If you are smart you can use small funnel as a “key” to open the passage and then use a funnel of your choice not to spill any gas from a canister…. Choose your presidents with thinking as well…. Will save you some grief later….
What do you use if you don't have the funnel. My truck is on the side of the highway now because I couldn't get gas in it. Now I got to go to AutoZone and buy another one tomorrow if my truck still there. Impersonally I think it was a bad idea to try to stop someone from stealing a little gas. There's a dozen other things wrong with the Ford F-150 they should fix or do something about then that little bit there number one stolen car in America
You are right about not really needing it. However, F150 isn't even in the top 10 for stolen vehicles (Honda CR-V is #1). Not even the most stolen pickup.
Am I the only one that reads the manual? No so much for the funnel but how to get the jack and the spare tire down. Better have a rag to clean the dirt out that funnel after sitting behind that seat for 5 years.
love videos like this that just get straight to the point, no messing around. thank you!
🙌
Thanks dude! You just taught me something new about my five-year-old truck
Glad I could help!

Totally agree!
It's a design flaw for sure!!!!@@JasonGillett
@@juliuswilcox7327 The infuriating thing is it is not a "flaw."

Thank you - much easier than owners manual
You're welcome!
This video was good. It was short and sweet. I have a new Ford xlt. This video helped me locate the funnel. Thank you Jason Gillett.

Well there you go
So much content. A solution looking for a problem. Do not want.
Needed this before I spilled gas all over lol.
lol oops
That Funnel looks like the "Female Adapter" for one of those Portable Urinal Containers!... Hahaha!
@@jasonbuck489 😆
The problem is....the cup is so small, I spilled more gas than actually went down the tank. Good video
Yes, you are correct it is a very small funnel. They could’ve put a bigger one.

THHHHANNNNNKKKKKKKK. YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU. We rented one after an accident and we hated putting gas in the tank. This video saves the DAY!!!!!
🙌
But the funnel is not needed for regular gas station fill ups.
For years I just assumed Ford didn't provide me with a funnel. Now I feel like a boob Thanks for the info.
:) happy to help
Thank you! We couldn’t find the funnel and this helped so much!

They put all kinds of safety features on the truck and fail to put a locking fuel lid or gas cap, don't understand how this could be over looked?

My 2014 snapped into place under the left hand side seat, right beside where it's needed. They aren't getting better.

My truck is second hand and whoever sold it took both the funnel and the jack and the dealership didn't replace it
boo urns!
Thank you sir!

Piss poor that the owners manual has to be purchased like a damn accessory now !
So true, or am I just turning into a grumpy old man lol.

Why does a truck come with a funnel? Do truck owners run out of gas often? or does the engine use oil so always adding oil? strange.
The capless fuel system has two flaps that prevent debris from entering the tank. The funnel is made so that you can put fuel form a jerry can in
Used it to piss into a soda bottle on a long haul.
Clever
Thanks, that helped
Glad it helped

Good idea
What do you do if you buy used and it’s not there
Order one from the dealership, ebay, amazon or a place like RockAuto
If people can’t figure out how to fold down the rear seat, they need to own a Prius.
😆
Thank you!!

I iave a Ford Focus and it claims its in the glovebox there is nothing in my glovebox but the owners manual.
This is for a f-150
How about look in owners manual???
Or UA-cam. Much quicker
My 2012 XLT back seats Do not fold down.
Really I did not know that
@@JasonGillett yeah, unless i'm not doing something right lol the seats fold up, but the back rests do not fold down
Where would I find this on my 2011 f150 xl?
I’m sorry if it’s not in the same location as this one I’m really not sure
What if you don’t have one.
You can prob order one form Amazon or your local Ford Dealer.
Ive never ran out of gas.. and you wonder why trucks cost an arm and a leg and are nothing more than a tin can on tires...
How do you really feel? lol

And when you put the used funnel back behind the seat, soon the whole interior smell like gasoline! Typical Ford stupidity.
How do you really feel :)
Stuff a paper towel into a plastic grocery bag, use it to hold drips and funnel after use. ☆
Dont need that BS to fill up a GM, another dump idea from ford
