    This sentiment comes back to the beatitudes in a way. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be satisfied. Those who want to grow closer to God will be allowed to, those who show mercy to other will have the same done to them, those who make peace will be called sons of God, those who are meek will inherit the whole earth.

      This is very strange. I listened to this many times to be sure and around.0.55 seconds in the priest says satan said he returned to his home justified. I’m not trying to miss the forest for the trees, but I found this to be very strange.

    "We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does his will.".
    John 9:31.
    The content of this video is half true.

    • @ponti5882
      @ponti5882 4 дні тому +4

      No, it is fully true. For these things are not mutually exclusive. You should read for comprehension rather than mere repetition. The words of the blind man that Christ had just healed to the Pharisees bears truth because unrepentant sinners do not seek God. But just as scripture says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, so too do Christ’s words ring true:
      “For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” Matthew 7:8
      Was Christ speaking a half-truth when he said this? Of course not. Those who return to God in prayer, are well-received by their Father in heaven, as we see in the parable of the prodigal son. And the efficacy of prayer, though we be all sinners, is very much attested to in scripture and in the writings of the saints.
      The sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. Psalms 51:17

      In John 9:22-34 the Pharisees are calling Jesus "a sinner". The blind man who was cured responded (paraphrasing) if Jesus was a sinner, he could not have performed this miracle. "If this man were not from God, he could do nothing". [Jn 9:33] This discussion wasn't about prayer, but about performing miracles.

      @@ponti5882 “For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.' Matthew 7:8"
      Does this apply to a person who has fallen into sin, like skipping mass or eating meat on a friday, for instance? Or is the phrase more apt to those that don't sin at all? You cannot maintain a friendship with God at the same time you spit on His face.
      "The sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise'. Psalms 51:17"
      Does a sinner have a contrite heart? Sorry, the answer is a resounding "no". The aforementioned Psalm is about a person that is not in sin anymore and mourns her sinful past.
      You can forever dance around the issue, what is written is written whether we like it or not; the words are absolute.

      @@douglasmotta5971 If God did not hear the prayers of sinners then no one would ever be converted. God by necessity hears all things. Prayers of petition are of course not meritorious if one is leading a life of unrepentant sin. But if one is stained by sin and attempting to convert, then their prayers will be heard. This kind of rigorism you are espousing savors of the Jansenist heresy and you should knock it off.
