I was in Lourdes October 2023 and this account is exactly how it is there. St Bernadette pray for us!
Is it directly from her book???? Or narrated at the grotto by a tour guide???? Or ???? How do they tell you the story there at Lourdes?❤
I prayed for my mother (who had died) at the shrine of our Lady of Lourdes and Saint Bernadette. At the end of prayer the sun pulsated through the trees and I took a picture of it. To my astonishment the photograph revealed the face of a young woman smiling back at me. It was my mother, I recognised her smile. There were also red and blue rays, reminding me of the divine mercy rays. About a year later I happened to check the date when the photograph was taken, it was April 16th, the feast day of Saint Bernadette! This occurred at Saint Thomas the Apostle Church, Abercynon, South Wales, UK. Thank you Blessed Mother, thank you Saint Bernadette for what you did for me on that day. XX. IESU BENDIGEDIG! Bernadette's own remembrance of her early life is not consistent with the movie version of her life in "Song of Bernadette," which portrays her mother as harsh and her father as pretty much lazy and worthless. Bernadette remembers her parents as loving and religious despite their poverty. The movie -- though well done and riveting -- does a disservice to her parents.

When my husband was 3 days from death, his doctor asked if he was afraid to die. He replied “no” because he said he had seen a lovely lady who told him she would go with him after his death and lead him on to the next life. He did not know who she was, but I firmly believe it was Our Lady, and this has consoled me through all my sorrows and surgeries ever since. Bernadette is my confirmation name.

The nuns and townspeople were so cruel to her. I spent 12 years with Holy Cross Nuns in school in the US. Those nuns wwwere indeed cruel, evil, and loved hurting people, children! I never sent my children to Catholic school due to their evil, hurtful ways. I left the Catholic church and was confirmed in the Episcopal church. I have remained there for 55 years. I am still scarred emotionally by the sharp tongues of those evil women.

Every morning the rosary is prayed at Lourdes. I often see the pink blossom alive at the foot of the statue of our Blessed Mother. Thank you Mother Mary for your yes, your love. Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us. St. Bernadette, pray for us.
I went to Lourdes, and had a spiritual experience!
The baths were freezing - I wasn't used to 20 naked men and myself, waiting to go under the Water.
The Mass at the Statue with the Candles was fantastic.
Sadly every street seemed full of Statues, I think it would have been better with a big Church Shop. I can't get Holy Water as I am crippled with a spinal injury and the Priests refused to visit me again, saying they were to busy? After I had given them £ 100 each - Even when I was crippled, I kept the Church It and Computers running for 10 years, while I was in pain.
I also saw the pink roses before and it did not come to mind that Mama Mary's yes. Thank you.

She was dressed in White and I remembered the Blue sache, as you described.

I had read a vouple of biographies of St Bernadette.Both were well written and I knew a lot about her life....but somehow this presentation with her picture was very beautiful and made me realise how hard the poor girl's life was and her absolute humility and truthful nature.Very impressive and heart rending.

I went to De la Salle high school. Soubirou was the girl school equivalent. Wow, now I understand why and how. This story was the first time I heard it yet was familiar to me so much so I cannot explain it. I must see this grotto in this lifetime. Help me repent St. Bernadette

Beautifully done. The Song of Bernadette is one of my favorite movies. I wear 4 medals. St Bernadette, Lady of Lourdes, Saint Theresa of Calcutta and my patron Saint, Edith Stein.
Saint Bernadette's feast day is, April 16th (my sons birthday) Saint Edith Stein's feast day is, August 9th, my birthday.
Saint Edith Stein's miracle happened in the state in which I live.
I hope to visit Lourdes one day.

St. Bernadette is my favorite saint along with St. Francis of Assisi, both very humble in nature, but strong in faith. They are the saints I introduce to my children in Catechism class.
The children in my class are about her age and I point out that she had trouble learning her lessons just like them. This encourages them to keep doing their best in order to be able to make their First Holy Communion and continue learning more about our Catholic Church.

In the catholic church you really have to be special to achieve sainthood. Glad the N.T. and Jesus recognizes all true believers as saints.
All true believers are saints in the Catholic Church as well. But the Church singles out some people who are especially good examples to the faithful.
We have a feast day - All Saints’ Day to recognize and celebrate all the saints that are not canonized.

I am amazed of how our Blessed Mother appears to children who are innocent and humble. Like Bernadette and the children of Fatima, they were jailed and threatened with imprisonment. Nothing shook their devotion of wanting to see "the beautiful lady" when she asked for them. Many doubted them and treated them with disdain but their attraction to our Blessed Mother never failed. Thru the actions of these children, and by the grace of God, many repented and souls were converted. Gods will be done. On this eve of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, let us all pray the rosary and ask for the repentance of sins and the conversion of sinners. 🙏🙏

Mary please look into the ‘GAPS’ diet…. It is basically eating good wholesome veg, meat and fish, avoiding bread, and making lovely veg soup with bone broth in (you can buy this broth as ready prepared, it is tasteless, but is the most nourishing food in the world. Many have cured arthritis and all sorts of auto immune with this diet. Please try it! It could be your miracle! ❤️🙏❤️

That was comprehensive, accurate and affecting. I don't recall Bernadette ever mentioning being carried to Nicolau's mill house, because either she was in a complete reverie or because she was embarassed to have physical contact with a man even in emergency circumstances. There is no doubt that the account is factual, but it is an oddity of her life that there is no evidence of any romantic interest. In one of her letters she writes, "Please say hello to the young man who accompanied you on your last visit." It is a stretch to interpret this as anything more than "say hello." Bernadette never had a problem with the vows of poverty and chastity (she had always been poor and chaste), but obedience was more of a,challenge. She came from mountain people who did not like to be pushed around. She admitted to being headstrong. Our Lady needed a head strong (literally) person to stand up against the threats of prison, an asylum and execution. However, Bernadette completely internalized any rebelliousness toward the blatant mistreatment she received at St. Gildard. It may be that Bernadette's canonization was, in part, an attempt by the Church to atone for this mistreatment. Too little too late. Nevertheless, nobody ever deserved sainthood more than Bernadette. More than one of the elderly sisters who lived to testify at her cause stated, "Many times I tried to emulate Bernadette. I could never do it."
