Thank you for this method! We always rinse the strainer before adding the coffee, prevents the grounds from falling thru the little holes. For every cup of coffee, use 1&1/2 coffee scoops of coffee. Perk until you can strongly smell the aroma. Be careful it doesn't boil over. This is how my Dad taught me and when pouring the coffee, there should be a red hue seen in the pour. Yes, he liked it very very strong, but used evap milk plus heaps of sugar. I like it very very strong, but black. My sister calls it mud.

Wonderful! Glad to see other people still perking coffee. I just bought a 6 cup version last week from an antique store. Paid $50 😬. But I don't think this thing has ever been used, as it doesn't have a mark on it and it is so clear and clean. I also have 2 CorningWare percolators as well. One is electric and automatic, and one goes on the stovetop like the Pyrex. I love and use them all. I use them mainly on the weekends when I have the extra time. Before work during the week I still mainly use the standard Mr coffee drip maker that I set up the night before on a timer. Although once in a while I will set up the Pyrex the night before. If I put hot water in it it tends to get done faster. I turn the stove on and by the time I'm done getting ready it's about finished.
Glad you liked video. Take a look at our channel for other videos and give us a like. Thank you PS: suggestion - Try not to use hot water from tap, more impurities start with cold water for cooking
I like to use my Pyrex coffee maker, too ! ( I like to see the coffee perking...) After you see the coffee water dripping through the basket, I give it 7 minutes, Just like You do... and Voila! + ! Coffee! Just as I like it! Thanks, Grandpa!
P.S.) I forgot to mention; Once the coffee starts to drip through the basket & I see it dripping into the water below, I like to turn down the heat, there's enough momentum at lower heat to maintain the perking process for the 7 or so minutes... It works for Me ! : )
In France where the same percolator systems have existed since the 19th century they certainly do NOT use such paper filters. No way it is bitter without their use ! A waste of time & effort with respect
It can take 20 minutes to boil off any chlorine in the water, but if you actually mean fluoride, that is not removed by boiling. “Sink water” as you call it, is not good stuff to make coffee with.
I had this pot and made coffee the same exact way you do. The best coffee ever!
Thank you for this method!

Based on Joe's accent (what I grew up with) the water is from the wonderful Delaware River so it must taste great. Yeah that's a little joke.
Thanks, Grandpa! I love my Pyrex coffee maker! with fond memories of my grandmother and my aunts in the kitchen making coffee with a Pyrex percolator!

Hello from the quiet Ozarks! Another video of value! Hope your well and enjoying your day. What kind of paper filter do you use?
Thank you. I use filters made by Melitta
How much is the price of this today?

Thanks for the input.
I couldn't hear over the loud background music
Just use more then 6 cups water to start, then you don't have to add water at the end. 🤔
By adding more water at start you are thinning out the brew and you will end up with a different amount each time
I put a pinch of salt in mine. Cut cuts the bitterness
