I've been using a percolator several months now. I like the sound, the aroma is great in the morning, the flavor is just the goodness a morning needs. I have been using a dash of salt added while it's percolating to help with bitterness. You remind me of my aunt. You brought back some good memories. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the kind words of encouragement! I’m glad to have brought back those happy memories😊. We need more joy these days. Have a blessed rest of your week❤️
My grandma percolated her coffee the entire time she was cooking breakfast, like 15 or 20 minutes. It was absolutely delicious and would make your hair stand up.
That sounds like my daddy. He would do the same thing. One thing about perc coffee is you will settle into what you like and that’s a good thing. Thanks for the great feedback and have a blessed day❤️
What a great way to start a day. Sitting on the patio Sunday morning, drinking freshly brewed coffee and contemplating all the blessings of our Good Lord bestowed on us before going to church
I love her accent! I had a friend make me percolated coffee years ago, and somehow, when someone makes it for you its the best you've ever had! I'm still trying to get that good at making it!
We have three stove top percolators we use in our kitchen. A stainless steel pot, clear Pyrex and white Corning wear glass. We have used them for years. Nothing like the smell of percolator coffee filling the room with the aroma of fresh perked Folgers in the pot, watching the snow come down.
We always did this camping and last year after going thru My 3rd drip coffee pot I pulled out the perk coffee and have not looked back nothing is better also fantastic when your camping and that cup of coffee and the smell of wood smoke heaven right there
Thank you for the great tips. I dug out my old perk coffee pot yesterday, and it had been years since I made perk coffee, and then I found you! Just made my husband a beautiful cup of coffee that he's enjoying right now. Blessings from above!
My grandma used her percolator everyday and I just recently found one at a thrift store and purchased and am excited to brew my first cup of coffee in it! So glad I ran across your video today! Thank you for the tips! And God bless you as well! ❤🙏🙌✝️
I have 3 different percolators. 2 electric, and 1 stovetop model. All 3 make some of the best coffee I've ever had. Great video for the newbies. And girl, i love your cast iron collection...
You sound like us! We have several styles but love the camp model the most. I do have a corning percolator in like new condition that I use from time to time and it makes excellent coffee as well. Thank you for the great feedback and have a blessed day😀
I use an old Revere Ware 4 cup percolator from the 50s I got at the thrift store (my wife doesn’t drink coffee, and none of the five kids are old enough). I’ve found mine works best at 5 min cook time and 3min rest before pouring. My favorite coffee bean is the 1776 blend from Blackout Coffee Company. Add a splash of fresh goat milk from the morning milking and it’s amazing.
Revereware from the fifties is top quality. What a find! I will definitely check out that 1776 coffee. Thanks for sharing that and the kind words. God bless!!❤️
Merry Christmas your scriptures and message at the end cheered my heart it made me count my good gifts from God Christmas can be lonely or sad and I decided to thank God for your cheerfull video I live near a beautiful bay so it was so much fun ti take my Golden retriever near the water and say thank you Jesus. Your sweet video opened my eyes to say thankyou
Oh thank you so much for the sweet words of encouragement!! It warms my heart that you found joy and a reason to be cheerful in these days of uncertainty. We serve an amazing God and I am blessed by your kindness. You brought a smile to my heart. May God bless you richly!❤️
Here in Denmark thermo carafes are a big thing. Growing up I always found a thermo carafe filled with freshly brewed coffee on the living room table at home or at my grandma's. So when I was a teenager and started drinking coffee, my grandma taught me a trick to get rid of the oily buildup in the thermo carafe: she would fill three quarters (give or take) of the carafe with boiling hot water and then add in two teaspoons of baking soda. The baking soda would react instantly with the hot water, and the oil would come off in flakes. I used this trick when I bought a second-hand electric percolator three years ago, so I can tell you for a fact that it works wonders. Just a tip (if you have the heart to put baking soda in your percolator). Fun fact: it's really hard to find a percolator here in Denmark as people tended to do pour overs or use vacuum brewers before we had the automatic drip (as opposed to the US, where - as far as I can tell - percolator coffee was the common thing before automatic drip coffee). You can buy a few electric ones online and camping percolators at wild life stores, but you won't find any in your typical Danish hardware store. I'm deeply fascinated by the percolator, despite its bad reputation. I really, really want to buy a vintage stove-top percolator, but you can't find any here in Denmark. At one point I found a Pyrex glass percolator from the 50s or 60s, which I bought. However, it got wrecked in the mail and it kinda broke my heart as there are a limited number of these in circulation. Oh well. To wrap things up, have a nice day at the homestead!
What an amazing comment!! Thank you for the great tips and for the wonderful insight into your part of the world. I will definitely try the baking soda. The inside of my percolator has quite a bit of build up and needs a good cleaning. Thank you so much for the kind words of encouragement. God bless!❤️
The Pryex Glass ones are really rare do to a safety recall in the 70s. My parents had one and you had to send in the glass stem and basket becasue I think they could break, chip or something and get into your coffee. I think they sent a refund if you mailed in the internal parts. They kept the glass pot and used it on to make tea in for years.
@@ryanhawkins1235 The Pyrex glass percolator was our first coffee pot when we were married. It was a shower gift. Those fragile glass parts - stem and basket didn't last long; they were easily broken. It was okay since we were mostly tea drinkers back then. I never knew about the recall.
This vlog is so nostalgic, my 3x's grandma would do this every morning for pop pop before he left for work, and I would beg for some of her coffee; maybe sneak a sip if she said no. Maybe that's why I adore a perfect cup to this day. Thank you for filling in the blank of how to continue grandma's tradition.❤
You’re quite welcome! My daddy was a strong coffee drinker and “fed” me coffee when I was a toddler on his knee. Seems like coffee is common in many wonderful memories of our lives. Thank you so much for the sweet words of encouragement and have a blessed and peaceful weekend❤️
Thank you for sharing...I was always taught to clean a coffee pot with salt and a damp rag...《salt becomes an exfoliate).works great with no salty tastes.
Your video popped up, wasn’t even looking about percolator coffee- but so glad it did! It’s the video I didn’t realize I needed! I came across a new stainless steel percolator at the thrift about a year ago & fell in love with perked coffee! My mom had a glass Pyrex one growing up, so it was nostalgic too. I also put fresh local honey from my friends’ 🌸🐝 I took note of your tip to turn it down once it starts perking- and to just let it perc 2-3 min; I was letting it go full blast at least 5. No wonder it’s been a tad bitter!😂 But liked it anyway. It’s going to be better now, thanks! And just love how you finish it with Scripture♥️🙏🏼 God bless you too!
Thank you so much for the sweet words of encouragement!! I was drinking a cup of coffee from that same percolator when your comment came thru😊. It thrills me to feel the joy in your words. I’ve got a vintage electric Pyrex percolator in great shape that I use when I’m in my shop working. It’s a jewel💕. So glad you stopped by the cabin for a visit. Have a blessed day!❤️
Came across this video by mistake and glad I did . Your voice reminded me of going to my grandmother's in Texas. She percolated her coffee ,and had an empty coffee can full of bacon grease on the stove at all times as well.
What sweet memories! I wish coffee still came in tin cans. There were so many uses for those empty coffee cans. Thank you so much for the kind words of encouragement. Have a blessed Sunday❤️
I'm a 85 yearold Ozark hill billy and used to smoke, (i quit) anyway, My way was to fill the water to the bottom of the basket then fill the basket all the way to the top, IF the designer didnt mean for the basket to be filled he wouldnt have made it so deep, Place on the fire and watch till it starts perking, then pullit back so it dont boil over , then light a ciggerett and when the CIG is done the coffee is done. There has always been a relation ship between ciggerets and coffee . :) have a good day.:)
Great comment😂!! You have a valid point and my husband would completely agree with you😁. Thanks so much for the tips and great feedback and have a blessed weekend❤️
I bet at one time you drank your coffee from a saucer. Im 71 first saw my grandparents drink it that way. Anything my grandma done I did too. Nobody ever love a grandma more than me. Vice versa too.
Today is my mama's birthday but she is in heaven, she loved her coffee and her cigarettes and now I love my coffee and my joints. God bless you all and enjoy that morning cup of coffee happy heavenly birthday Mama I'm cheering you with a hot cup of coffee
Help me understand this please. If you stop the water from boiling, then it isn’t coming down over the grounds, except just a little when you take it off the fire. So, the almost-booking water is sitting under the grounds, instead of seeping down through them to become coffee liquid. Sounds like weak coffee to me. Am I missing something?
That was really good. Back in the 60s friends of mine and me baby sat for my aunt who had a peculator and we drank coffee all night long but never knew it was ready after 2 to 3 minutes. I am going to buy one now and make it like you said. Many thanks from the UK.
Hi Jackie...just adding another comment. This is unrelated but I noticed that you have a well water pump next to your sink. That is fantastic. I didn’t see a video on your channel about it...but...If you are ever up for it, could you do a video about that. My parents had a well but the hand pump was out by the well!! Ted and I are looking to move (eventually!) and we will probably have a well where we are going. I would love to learn about having a well water pump at the sink for a back-up and how you find it works...and are you happy with it. Hope you are having a great week. Love and God Bless, Mary ❤️😘❤️
That’s a great question! The pump actually isn’t hooked up yet. We ran into a problem and are looking at other ways to get water to it. The pump is rated for up to 19 ft so it is a shallow well pump (which is common for these type hand pumps). We went down over 30 ft (by hand) and didn’t hit water. We are now looking at putting in a cistern type tank underground to catch rainwater and hook the pump to that. Eventually we hope to have a deep well but the cost in our area is unbelievably high. In an off grid situation a deep well might not be the best option anyway because of the difficulty getting water up without an electric pump. We will get the hand pump up and going and I sure will document it in a video to hopefully show another option to have safe, clean water in an emergency. I will keep you posted on the progress🤗. We have to be prepared! Thanks for the wonderful feedback sweet friend and God bless!❤️
Oh what wonderful memories! Mine are similar. Waking up in a feather bed to smells coming from that old farmhouse kitchen🥰. Thank you for the wonderful feedback and have a blessed and peaceful evening❤️
I have four different coffee makers and I only use my stove top percolated-it absolutely makes the best coffee-I buy the beans and grind them fresh and use spring water-
Thank you for your friendly, simple, straight forward presentation. I've had trouble getting it right. I used an old tin camp pot, using your simple instructions and I actually can drink it black now. I used to add creamer to cover the bitterness. May the Lord bless you and keep you!
The smell of sizzling bacon and eggs cooking over an open campfire on a misty morning looking at the snowcapped South face while the coffee is brewing . . . This is life!
I've just purchased my first percolator. When I opened the box, I was wondering where the directions were.🙄 Thank you for your video. Winter storm power outages take out the normal coffee maker. Thanks to my propane stove, a percolator & your video, all will be well.😊
Oh goodness thank you for the kindest of words! I am glad to be of help and it sounds like you are very well prepared. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. Have a blessed day❤️
I love freshly brewed percolator coffee and forget about it. I think it is one good way to slow life down so we enjoy the peace. Love your channel and that it is Faith based.
I believe the old ways are the best. I’m constantly downsizing and simplifying and I appreciate this instructional so much! Today I made my first perfect cup of percolated coffee. I didn’t know coffee could taste so good. I’m donating my icky plastic automatic drip coffee maker tomorrow. Thank you for this!❤
Love percolated coffee. When I had one I found that keeping it just under boiling, around 190 to 200 degrees (yes I used a thermometer and experimented to figure it out) gave the best flavor and strength without getting that bitter burned taste.
I have been using an electric percolator for 20 years now and also have 2 camping pots. I tossed those plastic coffee makers years ago. Most of the time I use well water. I found this channel by accident and had to subscribe.
Welcome to the cabin! Thank you for those kind words of encouragement. I have the best subscribers on UA-cam😃. Those who haven’t had an authentic up of perc coffee just don’t know what they’re missing, do they?
Ahh a women after my own heart. I just bought a 1 quart Pyrex clear glass Coffee perculator & inner's are also glass. I took note that on your counter glass jars of all types. I collect (hoard) I just can not throw them out I find anything glass so beautiful and useful. My husband thinks I am nuts 🙄 😂 nothing looks prettier to me the something in glass jar/ canisters 💛
Oh my goodness I’m the same way about glass jars. I made myself throw away a couple the other day and I felt so guilty🤦♀️. Thank you so much for the kind words of encouragement. Have a blessed day❤️
I will be sure and give this a try. Mom and dad percolated coffee years until the Mr Coffee days. I remember the rich taste and aroma of percolated coffee.
That aroma first thing in the morning! Wonderful memories are made around a good cup of coffee. Thank you for the great feedback and have a blessed and peaceful weekend❤️
I’m in LOVE with your kitchen!! And that old fashioned water pump??!! Cool. You are very blessed to have a gas stove. If the power goes out here, I’m stuck because of stupid electric stove
My that cup of Joe does look Heavenly. And the L❤️VE you put into making it as well. I landed here by way of a video search for the Faberware 12 Cup Stovetop Coffee Maker. I love all things coffee i.e. aroma, sound, taste, and smell. When the Keurig CM became popular I ditched my ole faithful, tried & true traditional Mr. Coffee for one and realized I mainly invested in convenience (not taste) as I found myself looking more forward to grabbing a cup from my local McDonald's on the way to work each morning. Case in point Old School is still the Best School on many levels during these microwave times our world has adopted. In any case, Thanx A Bunch for the tidbits of knowledge here on all things Percolator Coffee, who knew? And that uplifting Scripture you referenced. Btw, beautiful percolator, coffee gear, and lovely abode you have there. Stay Blessed!🙏🏽💚👍🏽🙂
Yes mam I too love a good cup of coffee! And I agree, there is something about the aroma of fresh coffee that just soothes the soul. Thank you so much for the great feedback and kind words. I’m so grateful you found value in our video and hope you come back to visit often. I truly have the BEST subscribers on UA-cam. God bless your day!❤️
This is a great video....from the cleaning of the pot to ensure we keep the seasoning on it, to why you don't put the water above the bottom of the spout. And yes, I take my coffee black...it's the way my daddy drank it, plus, it's quicker to drink if I don't add anything to it. Thanks for sharing.
Much love from Shreveport, my wife and I recently pulled ours out of our camping supplies and it makes such good coffee. We’ve got a big fancy keurig that I’m ready to throw in the trash. Love taking my time and listening to it perc in the morning. Your explanation on how it works was great, thanks for the good content!
Thank you for the kind words of encouragement! I agree! There is something soothing about the sounds a percolator makes. Add that distinct aroma and it can’t help but put a smile on your face🥰. I bet you are very familiar with Community coffee too😉
@@LittleCountryCabin I thought everybody had community! I hadn’t been able to find coarse ground in stores maybe they have it online I’ll have to look.
We have an off grid cabin. Absolutely love our perk coffee! In fact, when at our city home, will use perk coffee on the weekends as a treat. We do prefer about a 15 min perk, when I saw you pour yours, looked like tea, but to each his own. Great video, and great words.
Thanks again for your kind words. The one great take away from your video that I failed to mention was the seasoning of the pot. I will now treat my pot as I do my cast iron fry pans. No soap! Hot rinse and wipe only.@@LittleCountryCabin
I bought a percolator, around 40 years ago for camping it had a plastic view bubble. One time camping wasn't paying attention to the fire and it flared up and melted the plastic and started leaking. After it cooled down the plastic sealed and still use it. Percolators will last a lifetime.
I enjoyed the video as I love percolated coffee. Being from the South, I especially enjoyed hearing you say "rurn". LOL. I subscribed after seeing and hearing your promote Jesus. ❤
Lol I do sound so “southern” sometimes😂. Thank you for subscribing! I really have the best subscribers on UA-cam!! Thank you so much for the sweet words of encouragement as well. Have a blessed and peaceful day❤️
Thank you for this. After 5 months, I am the happiest person. Coffee made this way is fantastic. Houston's water will make you sick. Distilled water cold is best and Community coffee. BEST CUP OF COFFEE EVER.
You are quite welcome! Thank you for the kind words of encouragement and I’m so glad you are enjoying that good cup of coffee. Makes the world a little bit better🤗. Have a blessed weekend❤️
They can still be found at some old time hardware stores or, my favorite, ordered from Lehmans. Thank you for the kind comment and have a blessed day❤️
My daddy has a percerlator . Its so neat. I love the simple ways of doing things 😊. I might get me one for tea use . Unfortunately I don’t like the taste of coffee. I appreciate you explaining this . Have a wonderful day honey! I hope you all are doing good.
This little percolator has gotten a lot of use during hurricane season. Got to have one especially then!! Thanks for the wonderful feedback and have a blessed day❤️
I love this! I’ve been keeping an eye open for one at a thrift store. What a treasure you have. Thank you for the great feedback and have a blessed day❤️
@LittleCountryCabin This is my Pyrex Flameware story: I am 66 years old. When I was a kid we would visit my aunt, uncle and cousins often. My aunt was a coffee drinker the pyrex percolator was her coffee pot. I remember being just tall enough to be eye level to the gas burner of the stove. When she made coffee as she did every time we visited, I was fascinated and mesmerized watching this pot do its magic. I was amazed how the blue flame created the stream of bubbles at the bottom of the pot that eventually rose up the pump creating coffee. Magic! Jump 35 years ...I am at a flea market and I see this coffee pot sitting on the gravel all by itself being ignored. I ran to get it and scooped it up. It was $20, and I couldn't have been happier. I would have gladly paid whatever the price was. I lived about an hour away and looked at that pot the whole time we were driving home. It was filthy, but in good shape; no chips, nicks or scratches. This had been a family's coffee pot. I wondered how many times it was perked before everyone started their busy days. How many times did mothers sit at the kitchen table drinking coffee from this pot after the kids went to school? What was its history that led me to discovering it that day? Thoughts and memories of Aunt Mary Anne and her coffee flooded my mind. When we got home I couldn’t get out of the car fast enough. After a serious cleaning, I was ready for some coffee. I filled the pot up, turned on the burner, and waited. I remembered all the times I watched my Aunt Mary Anne make coffee. I was still fascinated and mesmerized by the rising bubbles and distinct sound this percolator made as the aroma quickly filled the my nose. Amazing how those senses have the power to transport you to your childhood… I have been making coffee with that flea market Pyrex Flameware percolator for all these years. My Aunt is gone now but every time I make coffee I am a little kid in her kitchen watching magic before my eyes again. I toast my Aunt Mary Anne with the first cup in thanks for introducing me to this work of art. Thanks Aunt Mary Anne. I can’t wait until we are once again together sharing a magical cup of coffee... Peace...
What sweet words! You are the blessing! I have wonderful subscribers that are becoming friends and your words sure blessed me!! Thank you for taking the time to watch and may God bless you and yours❤️
That Community is really good, like the Cafe Du Monde from NOLA, both have chicory mixed w the coffee and really makes a smooth cup in the morning 😊 thank you for the perk knowledge!!
I use a small “2 Cup” electric percolator I found in a thrift store. Old enough to be made in the US. Hadn’t thought of rain water - and we’re getting afternoon showers EVERY day here in Alabama. For coffee- lots of trial and error- I head to the Piggly Wiggly and get Red Diamond WHOLE BEAN. The Pig has the grinder and I set it for the most coarse grind. Give it a try!
I have a percolator but haven’t used it much and I will try your recommendations. One thing though, my grandparents were from Ireland so I always use Irish cream in my coffee, the kind from Ireland!
Thank you for this lesson ! The old ways are indeed best ! I appreciate your patient , kind teaching...not only the "how to" , but the reasoning behind it ! By the way , the pattern on your cup and saucer is lovely !
Thank you so much for the sweet words of encouragement😊. What a blessing! The dishes are vintage Homer Laughlin. I found them at a thrift store and I agree, the pattern is so very pretty. Have a blessed and peaceful evening❤️
Lost power and water today, pulled out the percolator, that had been unused for years, and confidentiality stated making coffee. I made every mistake... it was terrible!! Found your video and redeemed my morning cup!!! Perfect video for me. Thank you! I'm going to stay practiced from now on!
I replied a few days ago and I guess I didn’t hit send😁. Thank you so much for the encouragement and kind words. So glad I was able to help you make a great cup of coffee. There’s just something about a good cup of coffee🥰. Have a blessed day!!
I have been thinking of trying out a percolator. It seems to be very difficult to find anything but criticism on percolators. Everyone seems so bias against percolators. it was very refreshing to find your video, and I was quite happy with your presentation and how well seasoned the pot was. Thankyou very much.
Thank you so much for the kind words! We love percolator coffee plus it’s a great skill to know if you ever find yourself without power. Thanks for watching and God bless❤️
God is SO good! I try to stay away from as much artificial ingredients as I can so the honey and 1/2 & 1/2 is perfect. AND it tastes 😊. Thank you for watching😃
☕️ Awesome! This is the best video I’ve seen on how to make a good cup of coffee. I’ve had many types of coffee pots and just could not get that great taste my Mama use to make when I was young. Well after seeing your video I now know I need to get myself a pot for the stove and make that good old fashion cup of coffee once again. Thank you for sharing your time and techniques. I’ve taken notes from your video so I can put them in my recipe book.😊Blessings to you, your family and friends! 🌸
Oh I’m so happy you found value in this video🤗. There’s just no match to that perfect perc cup of coffee. It’s really a lost art today. Especially with all the fancy coffee shops around. Sometimes the simple, old fashioned way is still the best. Thank you for the sweet words of encouragement and may God bless your day❤️
We have to do things a little different now, we retired to the hills in Jamaica 🇯🇲 it rains heavily and we get a lot of power outages, i love my morning coffee so I'll need a stove top Percolator, thank you for the demo I really enjoyed listening. I've just subscribed as I'll need ideas on how to live easier in my new rural environment.
Thank you for the kind words and the subscribe! I love my perc coffee over the drip drip kind and I know you will be an expert making yours. It’s a great skill to have😊.
🌴We grew up on the farm , we had the old enameled coffee pot that mom had ready for us every morning up north, moved down south to west central Florida some 35 years ago and did drip coffee maker , was shopping at a thrift store and low and behold the old blue percolator was sitting on the shelf calling me , at $2.98 I figured that it was time to revive that old pot and bring back the good ole days , thanks gal for the info. Y’all have good one ☕️
Thank you so much for the kind words😊. I’ll have to try the McDonald’s coffee for my husband. He loves strong coffee as well. Me…not so much☺️. Have a blessed day❤️
I love coffee made in a percolator pot. My husband and I used one when we camped and when we lost power. It’s been a very long time since I had some. Hope y’all are doing well. God bless y’all.
This little percolator has a lot of miles on it and it’s still going strong😀. Hope you are doing well Mrs Vera. You are in our prayers. Thank you for watching and have a blessed day!❤️
Might want to try adding fresh ground nutmeg, cinnamon and/or anise. I like to add a drop of high quality vanilla to the cup. Go to a health food store to find better ingredients.
While I was enjoying this video, I did a quick multiplication and realized I have made in excess of 20,000 pots of coffee in my life! Yet, here I sat watching you make coffee 🙂 Your videos are soothing to the soul. Love your coffee pot; it's the same size as my stove top coffee pot. We use a Bunn coffee maker now, unless the power goes off and I pull old faithful off the shelf. Nothing like it.
Oh girl that’s a lot of pots of coffee😂. I think just like everyone has their favorite coffee cup they also have their own special way of making coffee. Thanks so much for the sweet words of encouragement and may God bless you richly❤️
You’re quite welcome! I’ve never heard of Sea Port coffee. I’ll have to do a search on it. Thanks so much for the great feedback and have a blessed day❤️
The grind I used would be considered a drip grind. Really not ideal for perc coffee but these modern days it's almost impossible to find a more coarse grind suitable for the percolator. I do grind my own from time to time which allows for more coarseness. Thank you for the great question and have a blessed day❤️
I would prefer spring water, over distilled water. You need some minerals in your water to make your beverages taste nice. I have a few 'alcohol' burners, in case the power goes out. I also have 2 alcohol percolators. They use a 'bunsen' type burner beneath the urn. They are very slow to perk a pot of coffee. I have a coleman percolator coffee pot, and a faberware one, but they are very slow too. They are like your, they site on the stove to heat and perk. I do not think you are supposed to be able to see throw the coffee when you pour it ! I guess I do tend to like the spoon to stand up in the cup once you are done stirring it, aka a little on the strong side. Thanks for posting this video, I enjoyed it. I also like your hand water pump.
Thank you so much for the kind words of encouragement! Great point about the water source. I hadn’t thought of that. I love how you are thinking ahead and preparing for ways to make coffee. Those of us who enjoy our coffee know how important that is😊. My husband would absolutely agree with you about strong coffee! To be honest, the lighting did make the coffee seem much lighter than it really was. Thank you for watching and have a blessed day❤️
We did blind taste tests. Same coffe. But one was perked, one in a drip coffee pot, one (actually 2 batches) of French press, and one vacuum brewed. The perked coffee won with 6 of 7 tasters picking it #1. French press was 2nd (#1 with the 1 person who did not pick perked) was French Press. No votes at all for the other 2 methods. We did not use a Keurig, but most people agree it would rank just below the drip method which most people ranked 3rd. BTW one the coffee starts percolating, you have only 6-8 minutes. 6 & you get almost no bitter caffiene. 8 minutes & you get a strong caffeine hit. We use filtered water.
Great feedback! How interesting and thank you for the info on the caffeine. BTW, a Keurig is a no go for us under any circumstance for so many reasons. Have a blessed evening❤️
I challenge anyone to go the extra mile and do what cowboys do and add a dash of salt ( himalayan/redmonds realsalt etc...) this allows you to have stronge coffee without bitterness. Salt makes it sooo smooth a flavorful!
The next time you scrub your percolator, I suggest you use a little baking soda to remove the stains. I have a stainless-steel percolator and I manage to remove most of the brown spots. I think it make the coffee taste better.
I have been perking coffee for many years. I had gotten a Mr. Coffee pot as a gift a long time ago and I started using it for the automatic start time in the mornings. But I really did t like the taste, the plastic or filters. So I bought a stainless steal camp coffee maker mostly as a spare if the electricity went out (stove is electric). One morning it was out, so I made coffee in the extra coffee maker over a butane burner. Well. That was it. I got rid of Mr Coffee and have done perked coffee since. It takes 8 minutes to get going, I turn the heat down to medium low and perk 4 more minutes, I let it rest and then I enjoy my morning. Prior to Mr Coffee, I had used a percolator so I knew I wouldn’t keep the electric pot for long. It seems convenient but it really isn’t worth it if you like coffee.
@twinfin8571 I hear this over many times. So many coffee lovers say that they just can't go back to the auto drip. It's not the same. Thank you so much for sharing the great feedback. Have a wonderful day❤️
If the percolator is steel or something stainless you can boil it with dish washing (machine) powder, and then rise well and boil it once with citric acid. It will remove any residue of soap no residue or taste at all. I am sure you are onto several ways about cleaning these pots. For aluminium dish washing powder isn`t the best, but basic soap and natural soap will work. I know some avoid soap and detergents absolutely, but I have thought about those liquid coffee maker cleaners, they are suppose to rinse out and not leave any taste. It works in drip coffee makers.
Personally I like the French Press for my coffee but am open to any manner of stovetop brewing...When I was a youngster my grandfather made the Sunday coffee...He had a granite pot from his cattle herding days, measurements I have no idea, bring the water to boil remove from heat and set about thirty seconds, add the grounds with a pinch of salt and a small amount of black pepper...wait about five minutes and add about a cup of cold water, wait about five more minutes and the best coffee I’ve ever had is ready.
@NBZW Thank you so much for sharing this! Love how you recalled the details of how that coffee was made. Sounds like your grandfather was very special. Thank you for the great feedback and have a blessed evening ❤️
I grew up on stove top percolator coffee. The way my parents did it was to bring the water to a boil, turn down to a simmer then add the coffee and let it percolate for about 6 to 10 minutes depending on how many cups you were making.
Thank you for sharing this! I love hearing all the memories of making perk coffee. Especially the different ways people made theirs. Have a blessed day❤️
Nothing smelled better than waking up in the morning and smelling fresh coffee brewing on the stove.
Agree!!
I am 66. I remember family brewing coffee with a percolator. This is the first time someone showed me how. Thank you.
@@Para-p3y You are quite welcome and thank you for the kind feedback❤️
I've been using a percolator several months now. I like the sound, the aroma is great in the morning, the flavor is just the goodness a morning needs. I have been using a dash of salt added while it's percolating to help with bitterness. You remind me of my aunt. You brought back some good memories. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the kind words of encouragement! I’m glad to have brought back those happy memories😊. We need more joy these days. Have a blessed rest of your week❤️
My grandma put a clean egg in the pot and a pinch salt ! Made the coffee smooth ! 😊
Thanks for the great feedback and have a blessed day❤️
Whoa! 15-20 minutes would put me in my grave. I like my coffee medium.
I cook my coffee for 25 minutes, which gives the coffee about 5 minutes perking. I like strong coffee with frothed hot milk. It is a day starter.
When coffee curls your straight hair, or straightens your curly hair, you know you have it at the perfect strength.
I do 17 minutes. Don’t ask me how I came up with that number but it works for me!
What a great way to start a day. Sitting on the patio Sunday morning, drinking freshly brewed coffee and contemplating all the blessings of our Good Lord bestowed on us before going to church
No better way than this! Thank you for the sweet words of encouragement and have a blessed and peaceful evening❤️
Your closing words brought tears to my eyes. God bless you too and thank you for the fine video.
@danmartin3402 You are quite welcome! Thank you so much for the kind words of encouragement. Have a blessed and peaceful Sunday🙂
I love her accent! I had a friend make me percolated coffee years ago, and somehow, when someone makes it for you its the best you've ever had! I'm still trying to get that good at making it!
Thank you for the sweet words of encouragement! I agree, when a friend does something for you it makes it extra special🤗
After hurricane Helene & not having electricity for 10 days, buying a perculator is my #1 emergency buy. Can't live without my coffee.
@@joannajohnson696 Absolutely!😁
I bought dunkin donuts concentrated coffee liquid. You can make it as strong as you want, just by adding hot water.
Mom used to get flat paper filters for her percolator. Have you ever used them?
We have three stove top percolators we use in our kitchen. A stainless steel pot, clear Pyrex and white Corning wear glass. We have used them for years. Nothing like the smell of percolator coffee filling the room with the aroma of fresh perked Folgers in the pot, watching the snow come down.
Agree!! Thank you for sharing the great feedback and have a blessed day❤️
We always did this camping and last year after going thru My 3rd drip coffee pot I pulled out the perk coffee and have not looked back nothing is better also fantastic when your camping and that cup of coffee and the smell of wood smoke heaven right there
Oh my goodness! Two things that bring a smile...wood smoke and coffee perking!
Thank you for the great tips. I dug out my old perk coffee pot yesterday, and it had been years since I made perk coffee, and then I found you! Just made my husband a beautiful cup of coffee that he's enjoying right now. Blessings from above!
Now that is what I call perfect timing😂. A good cup of coffee with the one you love….priceless🥰. God bless you as well❤️
We do ours for 18 minutes with a 10 -12 cup pot, medium grind I roast my own for the last 5 years, so delicious, we do have well water so good!
How interesting! I would love trying my hand at roasting my own☺️. Thank you for the great feedback and have a blessed week❤️
Good looking coffee and Great Word from the WORD! Blessings.

My grandma used her percolator everyday and I just recently found one at a thrift store and purchased and am excited to brew my first cup of coffee in it! So glad I ran across your video today! Thank you for the tips! And God bless you as well! ❤🙏🙌✝️
My apologies for responding late. Thank you for the kind words. I hope you get many cups of coffee from your find🙂
a seasoned pot, rainwater, the right coffee and cooking time = the perfect cup one of many blessings Thank you
A good cup of coffee is definitely a blessing🤗. Thanks for watching friend. Have a blessed day!
Thank you for the timing you gave, I've a revere ware 4cup also tried it once must have been the timing was off. I will try it again. Thanks again.

@@ryanhawkins1235 so interesting! I had not heard of that before.
@@LittleCountryCabin I can't remember the details but my Mom usually remembers stuff like that. I can ask next time we talk.

I also put fresh local honey from my friends’ 🌸🐝
I took note of your tip to turn it down once it starts perking- and to just let it perc 2-3 min; I was letting it go full blast at least 5.

@edwardharrington678 Wonderful memories! Thank you for the kind feedback, and you're quite welcome.

My that cup of Joe does look Heavenly. And the L❤️VE you put into making it as well. I landed here by way of a video search for the Faberware 12 Cup Stovetop Coffee Maker. @LittleCountryCabin
This is my Pyrex Flameware story:
I am 66 years old.
Amazing how those senses have the power to transport you to your childhood…
I have been making coffee with that flea market Pyrex Flameware percolator for all these years.
Peace...

Thank you so much!!
I am hooked on McDonalds Columbian Coffee for my percolated. I buy mine at Walmart. I love strong coffee and no bitterness.love your water pitcher.
Thank you for watching and have a blessed day!❤️
@@LittleCountryCabin thank you Jackie and Jerry for your prayers. God bless y’all my precious friends.
First time watching one of your videos. Loved it. Most of all, delighted you mentioned God. Will be watching more of your videos
So glad you stopped by and thank you for the kind words of encouragement. God’s blessings to you and yours❤️
Good to the last drop ☕️
Thanks for tip
You're quite welcome. Thank you for the kind comment🙂
You perked up my interest in a Percolator
@MySpace662 Thank you and have a blessed and wonderful day❤️
Nothing beats the aroma of percolator coffee
That’s the truth!😂. Thank you for the wonderful feedback and have a blessed and peaceful weekend❤️
Great video on the percolator... and even better spiritual message. Kudos!
Thank you very much sir. Blessings to you and yours🤗
I enjoyed the video and loved the message.
Also, you have a nice voice. 😊
Thank you so much for the kind words🙂
Thank you for sharing this coffee video! Learned something new today! God bless! 😙❤😙
I love hearing that someone learned a new skill😀. Thank you for taking time to watch and for the encouraging feedback. God bless!❤️
Might want to try adding fresh ground nutmeg, cinnamon and/or anise. I like to add a drop of high quality vanilla to the cup. Go to a health food store to find better ingredients.
@Sandrab769 oh that sounds wonderful! Thanks so much for the tip🙂
Ma'am, I'm in Southeast Texas, and Community Breakfast blend is my favorite also. Thank you for this video. I used to like Sea Port also
You’re quite welcome! I’ve never heard of Sea Port coffee. I’ll have to do a search on it. Thanks so much for the great feedback and have a blessed day❤️
YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL AND I LOVE A GREAT CUP OF COFFEE!!
Thank you for the kind words😊
Percolator coffee tastes best to me. I have several different types of coffee makers but only use the percolator.
I totally agree!
I like to grind my coffee beans as I need them it seems like it makes a better cup of coffee.
@anitamassey3434 I have done that a few times, and you are absolutely correct. Thank you for the kind feedback!❤️
I prefer perked coffee too. We have an electric pot, but we use the stove top pot most.
I would like to know what the grind consistency is. I love good percolator coffee ☕️. Thank you for your video. And God Bless you!
The grind I used would be considered a drip grind. Really not ideal for perc coffee but these modern days it's almost impossible to find a more coarse grind suitable for the percolator. I do grind my own from time to time which allows for more coarseness. Thank you for the great question and have a blessed day❤️
Wow, I love your kitchen , it looks so cozy. Thank you for the beautiful video, God bless you 😊
Thank you for the kind words and the sweet blessing!🥰
Thank you for the cleaning process, I really thought it was me on the soap part. Thank you
You’re quite welcome. I treat my coffee pot like my cast iron. Well seasoned and no soap😊. Thank you for the kind words and have a wonderful evening❤️
Thank you for watching and have a blessed day❤️
@@LittleCountryCabin- that’s what I figured - the lighting probably made the coffee look lighter pouring out; It was dark in the cup.
I shared this on my last video post because it is a great informative video!
Thank you so much!!! We have been SO busy and I’m behind on watching your videos. I’ll catch up soon tho I promise. God bless you friend!!❤️
I challenge anyone to go the extra mile and do what cowboys do and add a dash of salt ( himalayan/redmonds realsalt etc...) this allows you to have stronge coffee without bitterness. Salt makes it sooo smooth a flavorful!
I definitely will give it a try!😀
The next time you scrub your percolator, I suggest you use a little baking soda to remove the stains. I have a stainless-steel percolator and I manage to remove most of the brown spots. I think it make the coffee taste better.
Thanks for the tip!🙂
@@LittleCountryCabin I'm glad I could help. Baking soda is also good for washing clothes. Put a little in with the detergent.
Have a wonderful day❤️
What a beautiful video! Thanks so much.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😁
Thank you friend! Have a blessed day!❤️
If the percolator is steel or something stainless you can boil it with dish washing (machine) powder, and then rise well and boil it once with citric acid.
Thank you for the tips! I like the idea of dish washing powder. It makes perfect sense🤗

Honey in coffee, never tried that. Sounds good.
It is very good and better for you than white sugar. Thank you for watching and the wonderful feedback🤗
Some people use molasses for a bit of a different flavor.
@@kfl611 I’ll have to try that🤗
I grew up on stove top percolator coffee.
