I LOVED Alpengeist back when it first opened, but I haven't been to BG in over 20 years. My first thought on watching this was- there didn't used to be such big trees on the first drop!
I used to hate this coaster! Was really rough! Rode it last year with my daughters best friend and it was soo great!! They must have fixed it and didn't tell anyone. One of my favorites now, home park, when i was younger it sucked. But now its a thrill. I dont know why, I hate rough, but this one has certainly changed!
Youre not the only one that thought it was rough. I've ridden probably 100 different coasters, and I can say for a B&M coaster it was pretty rough. Good to hear that it may be smoother now though.
@@trenton1190 IDK what they did to it, it's my home park. But it's way more enjoyable now. Rode it again a couple of weeks ago, and still awesome! Was my daughter's favorite.

Thanks for the video. I was working at BG when this one was first released. At the time, it was my favorite coaster. Unknown to the general public is that this coaster originally was intended to have a musical "soundtrack" accompanying it. The orchestral score was recorded but never used, supposedly because they couldn't find a reliable method of powering it. The speakers, in fact, are visible, but unless something has changed since my years there, it's never been used. I worked in the music dept at the time and have a recording somewhere. If I can get back to the park, I'd like to GoPro the ride and maybe sync it up.
Tony Kim, this is one of my favorites. But it needs some TLC because it’s gotten very rough. Busch needs to consider serious refurbishment, like how Universal did with the Hulk. Also it’s time to upgrade the trains to the ones with the new restraints.

After that I loved roller coasters and rode every single roller coaster in the park!
My friends and I rode this one three times in one day cause we loved it so much. It's oddly relaxing for a thrill ride, like you're flying through the woods just barely skimming trees/rocks. The rocky slopes at 2:25 looked a lot more realistic when I was there too, maybe they repainted them? The first row is 100% worth it if you're prepared to wait a while. The back row is fast + still fun but you cant see anything above or in front of you. We waited maybe 5-10 mins for our first couple rides in one of the back seats, then 45 mins for the front row.

Montu and alpengeist are the Busch gardens B and M inverts. Two of the best in the world. Montu is my favorite of the two but I think it’s because I love the Egyptian theming and I grew up near Tampa Busch Gardens.
First time I went on this was in 2003 on a Dixie Classic Music Festival Band Trip. It was the middle of May and an unusually cold and cloudy, misty day. Getting pelted in the face by cold rain droplets at 60mph added to the whole experience.
Ughh! This ride has an infamous B&M rattle. The layout is so good! I just hate how some of the inversion just jolt you around like crazy. Especially the bottom of the first drop. Plus the way it snaps into the mid course isn't good.
