    • @adambane1719
      @adambane1719 2 роки тому +11

      @Ac Tion "In the 19th century, kudos entered English as a singular noun, a transliteration of a Greek singular noun kŷdos meaning “praise or renown.” It was at first used largely in academic circles, but it gained wider currency in the 1920s in journalistic use, particularly in headlines: Playwright receives kudos. Kudos given to track record breakers. Kudos is often used, as in these examples, in contexts that do not clearly indicate whether it is singular or plural; and because it ends in -s, the marker of regular plurals in English, kudos has come to be widely regarded and used as a plural noun meaning “accolades” rather than as a singular mass noun meaning “honor or glory.”
      The singular form kudo has been produced from kudos by back formation, the same process that gave us the singular pea from pease, originally both singular and plural, sherry from Xeres (an earlier spelling of the Spanish city Jerez), and cherry from the French singular noun cherise. This singular form has developed the meanings “honor” and “statement of praise, accolade.”
      Both the singular form kudo and kudos as a plural are today most common in journalistic writing. Some usage guides warn against using them".

      @@samulivainionpaa9338 This is the lowlights of 15 years of supercars. Of course it has more incidents than multiple seasons of f1. supercars also have more cars and thus probably more pit stops (it would be pretty even except for Bathurst where there's about 200 pit stops in 1 race). There is a difference in the amount of space in the pit lane because V8 supercars can't tell countries to spend millions to make bigger pit lines or else they'll go somewhere else.

      The foam is just to prevent a fire, Murphy received a 5 min penalty for the incident. As this happened during the Bathurst 1000, an enduro event with two drivers per car, may as well use the time the car is stuck in the pit to change drivers.

    Someone should invent a grippier type of roadwork for the pit stop area for when it is raining so if the car slides the grippy floor would stop the car from doing so

    That second pit-lane moment had penalties for both RBR cars for unsafe releases (SVG came out in front of Rick Kelly, forcing him to hit the brakes in the lane)
    Also, with Holdsworth spinning, I still haven't figured out WTF happened to Webb?

    You don't even need to get to 88mph/ 141.6 kph in these new time machines. You get the 1.21 gigawatts of power right from the start. They need to work on the formula for the return trip though. The car was on fire instead of being ice cold.

    man, is it really that difficult to stop a car at the right spot ?? cant understand why they can’t seem to brake in time.

    • @Strange1_au
      @Strange1_au 3 роки тому +11

      It's because time lost in the pit lane is harder to reclaim on the track, so they brake as late as possible into the pit bay. So when you have been practising your stops in the dry but then arrive and it's suddenly raining you have no reference as to where your new braking marker is. On top of that the pit bays are smooth concrete where as the pit lane is grippy tarmac, so there is a friction difference as you brake between the 2 surfaces and just to make it a bit more challenging the pit bays are where your team mate may have already refuelled so there could be fuel and/or oil on that now wet slippery concrete surface. They aren't parking at the supermarket (Although people seem to have an issue doing that anyway)

    I wonder how the pit stop crew gets their jobs as it seems so important and high skill requirements being fast and consistent/safe. Like do they have a school for training to be safe and fast or is it something where the team finds their own guys or have try outs as I don’t see how you can find reliable members which also makes me wonder how often a single mistake causes them to lose their position

      Outdated reply, but here goes - I think NASCAR teams recruit former college sports players who aren't good enough to go pro at their sport. They have experience being athletic and working in a competitive team environment.
