Original theme of the 1987 film RoboCop. Music written and composed by Basil Poledouris (now deceased). "Part Man, Part Machine, All Cop." Special thanks to: Orion & MGM Films
Unidentified renegade Z member he can break first three laws especially when a bad guy who is a public authority a power full one is bad and deserves death
Basil Poledouris, it has been 10 years since you died. But we will not forget you. With your music for the movie Robocop, you have added a stone to the building. Thank you for all !
Paul Verhoven was a genius. Sadly he doesn't get enougth credit that he deserves, he should be up there with Spielberg and Tarantino for his contributions to cinema. Robocop, starship troopers, total recall, all amazing movies. John Carpenter is also another director that doesnt get enough credit, however he is less underrated than Verhoven
Don't agree with Starship Troopers. IMNSHO I think that movie (and all sequels) STANK!! I'm a big Heinlen fan. Verhoven admitted he never even READ THE BOOK! In the book the Earth government was NOT fascistic to the point of being a silly caricature; it was more Libertarian. I agree with the critics who called it 90210 in space... I think Verhovern was permanently traumatized by his childhood living in Nazi occupied Holland and it shows in his work. Lastly Starship Troopers with no powered armored spacesuits and no orbit to ground meteoric assaults (basically a paratrooper drop from space..) is NOT Starship Troopers.

+Irondrone4 Here in Europe, in 1987, the critics had been devasting and the public opinion of the viewers as well, same with the reaction to the TV show. Most People couldn´t follow the concept of the story. to abstract. Personaly ROBOCOP is one of my favorites. I loved it when DEUS EX HUMAN REVOLUTION copied the transformation scene of the police man into the cyborg-man,
And the sequel because of bush league awful writing completely disregards that altering continuity including the Old Man the Owner is the same ruthless bastard as Dick Jones with no damn intelligent explanation provide as to why he changed. Sequels shouldn't get green lit that use moronic asinine nonsensical unintelligent unnecessary changes which can be retcons.

[Robocop opens fire on Dick Jones, sending him flying out of the boardroom window to his death below.] "Nice shootin', son! What's your name?" " ... _MURPHY..._ " *ROBOCOP*
...you might need to rewatch the 1987 Robocop if you think we need Robocop in the real world...Robocop was a card carrying employee of a massive corporation that was rapidly taking over a local government who, above all else, was not permitted to act against said corporation on pain of deactivation. He was functionally a modern day Pinkerton.
@@IllinoisTrafficAttorney Well said. The fundamental underlying theme of Robocop was a warning against giving corporations too much power. At their heart, commercial entities answer only to the bottom line; they exist to maximize their profits, and the costs to people, society and the environment be damned. So when you start allowing corporations to manage things that should ostensibly be for the public good, what happens when the public good is not profitable? And in recent decades, we've seen this come to pass more and more, from tech companies having the power to sway public opinions by hiding (or showing) only certain things, to gun companies lobbying to be able to keep on selling their wares to a public that clearly does not have the wisdom to use them properly, to energy companies knowing for years that their products were having adverse effects on the climate but suppressing that information anyway (a similar thing happened in health with cigarette companies hiding the truth about how harmful they were). Basically, the free market cannot be allowed to rule unopposed and without regulation, just like any other power base (whether it be political, religious or something else.) EVERYTHING needs to have checks and balances.
Meh. It's good music, but not particularly my favorite. I would rank Hans Zimmer, the Rain Man theme as probably number 1 of movie music. Also liked the Requiem for a Dream theme. And of course Vangelis - Chariots of Fire.
When I connect my iPhone to the audio player in my car, play this one and drive,I feel I became robocop Btw one of my coworker’s move is alike robocop too...
The remake felt like a wonderful modern day tribute to the immortal legend that is the original. The moment I heard this score in the remake, I knew their heart was in the right place. Hollywood doesn't make amazing scores like this ever.
Paul Verhoeven FTW! Such a sad thing they are destroying his movies. First Total Recall that got butchered, then Robocop and now they are even remaking his movie Starship Troopers. Why o why does Hollywood think you need to remake legendary movies and do it all Hollywood style instead of what he used to do? You can't remake his movies, Paul wasn't a American (so he didn't do it the way America where used to make movies), he didn't had the vision Hollywood had, his movies weren't political correct. His movies where full of comments about society. And most of all, his movies where full of details. Murphy got ripped apart when they gunned him down. You saw it happening, you saw the tugs laughing, you saw his body being destroyed, you saw it all. In the new movie he dies in a generic explosion that they use for every freaking movie to kill off people. Stop butchering his movies, go make new movies. Want a Robocop movie? Make a new one, not based on his movie FFS.
RoboCop was ahead of it's time when it came out because it served as a social commentary about the relationship between citizens and police. I think the purpose of Robocop is to show that both sides need each other to maintain law and order and mercy. As an iconic figure, Murphy served both sides well. Thank you
"Clarence Boddicker! You are under arrest! Everything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law! **Tosses him through a glass pane** " - Robocop
This music swings from one end of the spectrum to the other. The way it builds @3:56 then changes pace is genius. Basil Poledouris was a true master craftsman.
It's a timeless film, I think....soooo much more than just a summer sci/fi actioner blockbuster that had something to say, as how it was reviewed upon release. It has HEART :)
I never knew until now that this was a Poledouris theme, but now I know, it's actually very obvious, this theme really could fit in with any other film he's scored, and they could very well fit here equally as well. Such and underrated composer.
The music in Robocop is absolutely fantastic, Basil Poledouris really is a great composer! I watched Robocop for the first time today 2 years ago, and i still think it's one of the greatest Action movies ever made!
When it entered the slow music all I was imagining was Robocop walking through his house and having flashbacks in different parts of it and then at the end he hears the promo TV thing how is describing the house and then he gets pissed of and just punches the thing
Atlantean Sword from Conan the Barnarian and Klendathu Drop from Starship Troopers, both by Poledouris stand out as two of the best movie themes ever in my oppinion
Man this movie's theme gave me so many emotions as a child. I felt suspense, tension, hope and a sense of happiness all at once. It is such an amazing theme. Some girls remember their first kiss at 7 years old with their 8 year old bf on the swingset. I remember this theme as a 7 year old sitting on my grandma's rug watching the tv set.
Greek composers have my full respect. I mean just listen to this... also Blade runner, conan, the hunt for red october, starship troopers soundtracks. Just brilliant

I just realized that at about 4:07, it's the rebirth of the man formerly called Murphy, now known as RoboCop. The way the music changes it was "here's officer Murphy, his death, and now here's RoboCop" yeah I know,it took me forever to see that, and I can't even claim to be 100% correct on that, because the person who could confirm or deny that, is unfortunately no longer alive. But, if you compare it to how the movie goes, it seems to semi match.

+Don Sharma What about them? Maybe Armed QRF security where you're actually earning your paychecks. The rest of em get paid to observe and report and they're making way too much money per hour to pretty much sit there and do nothing.
And this movie must of been mind-blowing to you right? Now, imagine how mind-blown millions of others were waaaaay back in 87? Except I wasn't allowed to watch it till '91 at 10 years old. We had nothing to really preceed it, except for Terminator & Aliens. Good to see it can affect new generations :)
This theme song sounds so beautiful. Like a feeling that justice is on it's way. I wish Robocop was real. So he can END violence that people create for no reason but only for their needs and entertainment. I love watching Robocop. It tells me that true strength comes within and no matter how hard it is. Robocop is a hero because he symbolize Justice and true law enforcer. Nobody is above the law. Robocop wil find you lol
me encanta... cada vez que la escucho se me pone los pelos de puntas!! me encanta todas las pelis de robocop... cuando las venia de peke asta lloraba y todo cuando le pasaba algo jejejej
Kevin Baron the 2014. erosion had some little things that i liked. for example the scene where the man is trying his new prosthetic arm and is playing the guitar. that concept right there i thought was fitting to the robocop aspect but...none the less. the 2014 version did disappoint me.

1) Serve the public trust.
2) Protect the innocent.
3) Uphold the law.

Peter Weller made Robocop relatable.

What about them? Maybe Armed QRF security where you're actually earning your paychecks. The rest of em get paid to observe and report and they're making way too much money per hour to pretty much sit there and do nothing.
starship troopers, conan, robocop. basil has written everything awesome. RIP
The greatest superhero of all time in my opinion.
2021, 34 ans, encore plus fan que jamais!
34 years old next month. Best movie of the 80's for me.
Dead or alive...you're coming with me.
Remember when Detroit was a city ?
cr4yv3n Wait it was?
@@richardched6085 no
That was a long time ago. The movie predicted Detroit would be a disaster by now and it is.
All these years later, this is still not possible - "part machine and part man".
Can you fly bobbyyyy
225 people don't have a dollar.
Your move, creep!
Madam, you've suffered an emotional shock.
If only we could do that to rapists....
epic and badass song
This is being played while RoboCop is walking towards you to fill up the time and make it epic while you're waiting.
I like the way Paul Verhoeven applies his dark humor into his movies, like this one and Starship Troopers.
Basil Poledouris is awesome.....always has been great theme..
"Your move creep!" *knocks thug into freezer* "thank you for your co-operation, good night"
The bit where he goes back to his old house always gets me.
Son: "Can you do that, Dad?"
Wife: "I really have to tell you something. I love you."
Dear 80's
Come back to us and continue making movies
Sincerly true movie fans
Still got it on VHS, its so old it must worth 1 million dolars lol
Doubtful.
But I tell you what, I'd buy that for a dollar.
Retro Brothers
Haha, gives you the Cobra Assault Cannon.
Metalman200xdamnit I LIKE IT!
Retro Brothers
Finds a 6000 SUX for you to aim at.
Metalman200xdamnit BOOOOM!
Great movie, they don't make em like this anymore.
All I can think about is how eerily similar "Klendathu Drop" is to this.
God I love this movie!
me encanta... cada vez que la escucho se me pone los pelos de puntas!! me encanta todas las pelis de robocop... cuando las venia de peke asta lloraba y todo cuando le pasaba algo jejejej
You have 20 seconds to comply.
one of the best movies off ALLLL time, none can replace robocop 1 2
maestro Basil Poledouris R.I.P.
Serve the public trust

Kevin Baron the 2014. erosion had some little things that i liked. for example the scene where the man is trying his new prosthetic arm and is playing the guitar. that concept right there i thought was fitting to the robocop aspect but...none the less. the 2014 version did disappoint me.
